On 26/8/15 was the presentation of final assignment one poster.
I was glad that Mel’s overall feedback was positive and he questioned me to dig deeper in my next assessment piece. I plan to take part in experiments to help me finalise an idea for assessment two. I will still like to keep the concept of Humans being the glitch in our system although in a different approach. Mel encouraged me to personalise my second assessment piece... as my poster was quite a generalisation and created awareness of how humans are the glitch in our system. I need to create something that actually helps the planet (creating a statement) rather than creating awareness which i agree entirely. I will now take this approach and hope to create a more personalised piece.

Exploring Glitching: I have found an App which detects your face and automatically manipulates the coding of the image..... it then glitches the area that has been detected (face).

A glitch is a short-lived fault in a system. It is often used to describe a transient fault that corrects itself, and is therefore difficult to troubleshoot. The term is particularly common in the computing and electronics industries, and in circuit bending, as well as among players of video games, although it is applied to all types of systems including human organizations and nature.

Artwork 1 Documenting wind - With this particular artwork I focused on documenting the hidden force of wind. Wind is something we experience on a day to day basis, we know what it is, we see it, we hear it but how can we document this in an innovative way? I decided to capture the motion, direction, and path of the wind by placing a canvas beneath dangling paint brushes allowing the natural flow of mother nature to paint a picture. I then decided to take this even further by bringing the painting back to life with its original purpose of documenting natural wind and movement. After the process of editing the original wind painting was transformed re-living its creation. The illusion of movement was recreated with sounds and editing. This was an abstract approach of the winds journey.
Artwork 2 Natural form of Documentation (Body Canvas)-
A canvas or a computer screen is not the only thing you can use to create a work of art… Instead I decided to use the natural human body as my blank canvas. In this artwork I explored the ideas of natural documentation. I chose to pair the blank body canvas with something organic, pure and close to earth; crystals. This was ideal to use crystals instead of paint for example because it correlates with the concept of a natural organic form of documentation.
Artwork 3 Documenting crystals natural patterns (projection light show)-
With this final artwork I created my very own light projection; inspired by the astonishing light show Vivid. I wanted to produce an ‘organic projection’ instead of a completely artificial projection. This is why I substituted computer produced images/patterns with earths natural patterns. I once again used earths organic minerals to produce this projection. Crystals alone have such a beautiful form and create natural patterns which are quite aesthetically pleasing. This is why i chose to document crystals in an interesting way by projecting their natural form and patterns in a dark room. The idea of documenting a crystals natural pattern applies an organic aspect into something as artificial as a light show.
