I noticed you havent said anything about my new wound
It's incredible how all of the censorship on the modern internet doesn't actually seem to be making society kinder or more wholesome hmm maybe there's a lesson in this
MAY (2002) dir. Lucky Mckee
You know that thing would eat you if you died, right? *pointing to the false image of you that others perceive*
All that matters is that you are alive and that you are paying attention
actually my mommy is the one who has issues with me. so.
Will you never let it go? No. I repeat and recall and relive and retell and redress because childhood lasts, youth lasts, our childhood and youth constitute a future that starts over constantly, it is an ongoing process. I home in on it again and again because the body remembers and suffers and thinks, the body knows, it is not just the mind. The mind will hit a wall and when I write, I chip away at it, that is why I write, I work on the wall to discover what parts have substance and significance, yes, I rewrite and I reproduce like Munch painted several versions of The Scream, I repeat and I vary the repetition, shamelessly, with my heart on my sleeve and suffering inevitable heartburn in order to process and understand and put it behind me or to reinforce the bitterness and excitement inside me, in order to change myself through repeating and varying patterns
—Vigdis Hjorth, Repetition tr. Charlotte Barslund

The "Some Questions I Might Ask of My Poems and the Poems of Others" Creatures of the Deep Poetry Coloring Page
Variety: Does the poem change, develop, progress, or simply continue? Does it surprise? Has something happened to make you feel differently?
Speaker and Audience: Who is speaking and to whom? How can you tell? Is this the voice of a beloved, a stranger, an enemy? Is the audience a friend, a nation, the future?
Precision, Economy, Word Choice: Is every word necessary? How many could be cut? Is every word effective, precise, substantial, concrete?
Structure: is the poem inevitable? Are the structures fixed or are there other directions the poem could follow or explore? Can the parts be shifted or rearranged without doing damage to the poem?
Emotion: Where is the emotional center? Is it honest emotion, melodrama, cliché?
Emotional Distance: What is the relationship between the content and the author?
Line, Stanza, White Space: Does the form fit the poem?
Content: What is the poem “about?”
Context: Does the poem remind you of other work(s)? Does it dialogue with other writers, other texts?
Authority: Does the speaker “own” the subject matter?
Necessity, Credibility, Impact: What are the issues the poem presents? Does the poem explore its issues sufficiently? Are you invested in the subject matter?
Glitches: Does anything interrupt your experience of the poem while you are reading it?
Figurative Language: What poetic devices are being employed? Are they in the service of the poem? Are they original, appropriate, effective?
Memorability: Is it memorable? Do you want to read this poem again? Why? ls it the craft that makes you return to it or is it something else?
Expectations: Does the poem do what you think poetry should do? Does the poem make you reconsider what poetry is? Should all poetry do that? Should any?
Is the poem successful? What is success?
