Message for my discord if you want to keep in touch.
Goodbye, UIS. I loved you so much.
Fabian nodded at his twin, an anxiety filling him. He knew that Vic wasn’t exactly the cautious type but disappearing completely felt out of character for her. He also knew that she hadn’t been talking to anyone.
If Fab had to guess, something had to have happened and he didn’t want to see another missing person gone. He just followed Gideon’s lead trying to figure out areas where she might be.
“I’m guessing they’ve got London covered, but she’s got a license and might have been on the road. ” He didn’t want to say she was captured, that was to much to think about and he figured it was implied anyway.
Gideon nodded along with his brother, leading the way down the hall and out of his flat building. “They’ve been to the covering of London already, yes. I’ve been to the thinking of how to begin and i’m thinking that the best course of action would be for us to be backtracking to the last place she was seen and see if we can be to the finding of any clues at least to which direction she was to be going in. And then we can begin tracking in that direction.”
He had a map in his bag but he wasn’t going to get it out until they were outside of the city. They didn’t want to be trackable lest they lead someone with darker intentions to Victoire, so Gideon tugged Fabian in the direction of the nearest muggle bus stop as he continued, “and if we aren’t to the finding of anything else, we will backtrack and trace a full perimeter outside of London, as far as we need to be going-”
Realizing that he was getting a bet red in the face, Gideon took a breath and turned to smile at his big brother, pointing out, “i’m just very so a worried sort about Victoire, you know, Fideon.”
The sounds of music from behind him faded to white noise around him as he stood there stunned. There had been multiple times Remus had wanted to reach out to Gideon and apologize or write him an owl with how sorry he was, but he failed to do any of that. Now, Gideon was standing in front of him and Remus could still feel the ghost of Gideon’s lips on his. Gideon’s hands were still holding Remus’ suit jacket and that was the only thing keeping Remus grounded.
The man he had been with at the bar and flirted with happened to be the man that was stuck in his mind. Remus almost wanted to kick himself for not realizing who the man was behind the mask sooner. It took until now for Remus to discover the identity and he felt nerves fluttering in his throat before shyly looking away. His fingers were light on Gideon’s sides still and he wasn’t thinking about dropping them.
“I think we’re both in the same with that,” Remus managed a small ironic laugh, furrowing his brows at the ground. How had this happened? His face colored at the implied question and Remus snapped his eyes back up at Gideon. “No,” Remus said quietly, locking his gaze with Gideon’s. He remained tense for a moment before softening under Gideon’s touch. “No, I don’t want to leave. Please…please, don’t think that, alright? I…I’m sorry. I’m sorry for everything.”
Remus didn’t seem to be pulling away from him, but his touch was light and he was looking away, and Gideon remembered the last time they’d spoken, when Remus wouldn’t meet his eyes. When he wouldn’t let him look at his face for the scars now slashing across it. Gideon breathed slowly, kept a small smile on his face though for a moment he felt like he might cry, again, as he never did and this time in public in front of Remus, but it didn’t happen.
Instead he let out a little breath of a laugh along with Remus, watched the tension in his brow with an ache in his eyes, and felt utterly surprised when he was suddenly met with Remus’s own warm brown. Looking at him, telling him he wanted him to stay. He felt light and aching all at once, and he hesitated before slipping his hands up to hold Remus’s face for the first time since he’d gotten his scars and since he’d told him that this couldn’t work.
He felt warm, and whole in his hands, and he was still so beautiful. But he was apologizing, and Gideon shook his head slowly, not wanting to look away from him now that Remus was letting him look.
“You don’t...? I don’t understand,” he licked his lips, took a small breath, and reminded Remus, “you didn’t do anything wrong. You don’t have to apologize for- For not wanting things.”
He took another breath, and then the words just tumbled out of him, what he hadn’t been able to say in the burrow the last time they’d seen each other.
“You just did it all without me. You got to making all of these decisions about my feelings and my safety and what’s best for me like i’m somehow not understanding everything that’s going on, Remus.”
“I don’t want to go. I want to stay. Please.”
Two Figures
When Gideon was able to remove the sheets away from Remus, he was already grinning up at the other. It was intriguing how Gideon had the cunning ability to make Remus feel so carefree and wondered if this was a new feeling that he was creeping into his head. It was something he was eager to feel and ready to explore. When Gideon stared at him with wildness in his eyes and so easily complimented Remus made his chest squeeze with a small burst of affection for Gideon.
The word sounded foreign to him and Remus ducked his head for a moment to avoid letting a small blush cover his face. He could feel the heat seep into his face, allowing to nod at the compliment instead of brushing it off. It was a reflex to almost deny it, but the way Gideon was looking at him after saying that made him attempt to believe it too. A small sigh escaped him when Gideon pressed his lips to his forehead. He resigned the thought of wondering what it felt like to have the man’s lips pressed against his own. In the wake of being told it again, the corners of his lips smiled and he lifted his gaze. “You’re quite beautiful yourself,” Remus breathed. And then Gideon was pulling away from him and Remus blinked around them, reminding himself what they were doing.
Remus propped himself forward away from the couch, watching as Gideon explained for a moment before pushing himself off. Never had he been to a museum and he had not made a fort since he was about six. It was all vibrating excitment within him and Remus smiled as he straightened himself. “Needing a…chair?” Remus helped, trying to determine the gaps between Gideon’s words. It almost seemed as if Gideon was just as nervous as him, but Remus didn’t acknowledge the possibility. “Is this-um. Do you want to use magic? I-I think we could probably prop it up that way…”
Gideon licked his lips as he got to work unfolding the largest sheet, intending to hang it as he’d been trying to explain to Remus while his mind was so preoccupied... With Remus. He couldn’t stop thinking about the way he’d looked when he’d called him beautiful. He could still feel the warm, squirming feeling bubbling up inside of him knowing Remus thought the same about him. He’d always known he was good looking. Fabian was attractive, and Gideon looked exactly the same as he did. But somehow Remus saying it was incredibly different.
Remus joined him and Gideon blinked back to present, color in his cheeks and lips pressed into a tight smile that still reached his eyes as he looked up at Remus. “Chair?” He asked, as if he hadn’t even been hearing himself speak before, then remembered what they were doing, what they were building together, and broke out into a wide and beaming grin once more. “Actually, magic is to being a very good idea. I was to the idea of using spellotape, but that would be to being as easy as a simple sticking charm and I can be to the undoing it later-”
As he spoke, he handed Remus a corner of the blanket, and he tugged him over to a corner above the couch before asking him to, “hold it to the wall, high as you can!” He stuck the corner to the wall, moved them on to the next corner, grinned at Remus as they made themselves a ceiling and as they moved to put up the walls he couldn’t help asking, “what sorts of things are you wanting our fort to have?”
Laughing under his breath, he glanced at Remus out of the corners of his eyes and said in a playful sort of tone, “I think i’d be wanting really high towers. And a moat.”
More New Things || Remus
There was a tremor in his throat and Remus felt a swam of guilt enter him, dreading looking Gideon directly in the eyes. Even if he tried to put it into words, he still didn’t know if it would be understood. Remus never had felt like this before, so frightened that it shook him. Ever since Gideon knew what he was, there had been a hesitant thought in the back of his mind if Gideon would leave him. He had completely accepted Remus and now Remus couldn’t come to terms with accepting himself. That had always been the case, but now he felt like he was putting Gideon in danger somehow.
Remus felt his face burn as Gideon persisted to ask questions, feeling his breath grow short as if his chest was tightening. It was clear Gideon was attempting to make sense of it all and understand, something that Remus was trying to do. “No, no. I don’t remember. When I’m…that. I don’t remember anything. I wake up sore and exhausted. That’s all I know,” Remus said tiredly, feeling exhausted as he explained. If it wasn’t enough for Remus to stare at the hideous scars that littered his body, now everyone else had to stare at it too. The face was something he couldn’t hide with an over sized sweater or tall socks that rose above his ankles.
When Gideon moved to the floor to look up at Remus, he fixed his gaze for a moment before glancing away. He knew what Gideon’s eyes were grazing over and he didn’t want to see the pain on the other’s face or his thoughts. The questioned prompted Remus to let his mind trail down and begin thinking of the one thing that would make sense. Remus knew the stakes were getting high and this was the most intimate anyone had ever been with him. “Gideon…,” he said weakly, licking his dry lips for a moment. “You can’t. This isn’t…something I want you involved in.”
“Oh. That’s... That’s not in the textbooks...” Gideon let out a breath, but though he now knew it was usual it still sounded awful to him. To come home with scars like that and not remember how you got them. There had been many times before that Gideon had felt the overwhelming urge to wrap his arms around Remus and pull him safe against him, but now he felt as if he shouldn’t and his arms felt strangely static.He was painfully aware of Remus looking away from him when he brought himself down to his level. He was turning away from him, hiding those scars again and Gideon fought back a wince for the thought that Remus might think the scars could change something.
Hazel eyes were searching Remus’s face and at first when he spoke, all Gideon did was nod smally, but his nodding slowed as the words registered with him, and his chest began to ache as he realized what Remus might mean.
“You... You don’t want me to be asking about your cycles anymore? I can be remembering that.”
His heart was racing and he tentatively reached for one of Remus’s hands, wanting to comfort him, hoping this wasn’t what he thought it was.
“You know what they say about men with big feet!” A snort came from Jacob before he cleared his throat. Why would you even say that to someone that you just met? What is wrong with you, Jacob? “I usually have two left feet. I’m so clumsy. You are a good dancer though. I must admit; I never thought anyone would dance with me.”
“Big shoes!” Gideon agreed immediately, tipping his head back in laughter. He stumbled smally, corrected them with a small, “sorry, sorry, i’ll be back to the paying attention now,” and took a small breath. “I’m very so a clumsy sort as well, myself. The secret to be dancing when you’re clumsy is to the finding of other clumsy sorts. We’ll certainly never be to the minding of the stepping on toes.”
More New Things || Remus
The small word seeped into him and beckoned Remus to mirror with a small grin of his own. Remus kept his head low, hoping Gideon would talk about whatever happened to his day and just nod along. And then, that hope was snatched away from him and he could feel the air shift between them.
“It’s fine,” he murmured, keeping his gaze on the floor and not wanting to look up to see the expression on Gideon’s face. If it matched the tone in his voice Remus knew it would only hang heavy on him. The last thing he wanted was for Gideon to worry about him, but he could sense that was too late.
“No…no, not like the others,” Remus said softly, at least this time he was telling the truth and met his gaze with Gideon’s. The other man’s eyes were on him, his expression unreadable as his eyes traced over his scars and Remus stared at him. He sought Gideon’s gaze, for comfort or confirmation of the danger he didn’t want to face, he couldn’t tell. When he felt Gideon’s fingers move to touch the fresh scar, Remus leaned away, crumbling as he did so.
For a moment, the room sank into silence. Remus didn’t want to speak yet, his thoughts still probing his mind. It was still hard to focus on what happened, not that he didn’t want to remember what happened but that he couldn’t. “I-I can’t say,” Remus responded, his voice hoarse as he cleared his throats. He had become so absorbed with the danger that now taunted his mind. Don’t do this to him. He doesn’t deserve you. The strange words that filled his mind made his stomach twist into knots and he bent forward. “I don’t know.”
Even with the small lifting of his hands Remus was flinching away from him and Gideon winced smally, letting his hands drop immediately back into his lap, and then carefully getting back to his feet, taking a step back though what he wanted to do was slip onto the couch next to Remus and hold him and make sure he was all in one piece. If the new scars on Remus’s face weren’t like the others, then who hurt him? His thoughts were racing a mile a minute, but he could tell that Remus wasn’t alright. There was something serious happening.
Gideon was the stable one. Gideon was the one who knew how to care for his own emotions, he was the one who could always keep it together, for Fabian or Molly or whoever needed it. Remus needed it. He was only reminded of that as they sat in silence, and when Remus finally spoke it did nothing to ease his worry but Gideon managed to meet his eyes and ask in a level tone of voice, “you don’t remember...? Is it a normal thing not to be remembering-? F-uck-” Te last word was soft and cut off as Gideon bit hard at his lower lip.
Carefully, he moved to crouch on the floor beside the couch, put himself lower than Remus, and he set his hand on the arm as a quiet offering if he wanted it.
“Is there anything I can do?”
Remus was dumbfounded. He wasn’t expecting any of this and especially having someone he didn’t even know of their name pressed against the wall. There were so many thoughts rummaging through his head, but within the several minutes they already had shared together, Remus stilled the thoughts suddenly.
Even while he had his eyes closed and was blind to whatever the man was doing, he felt the movement against him and knew the man had complied and taken his mask off. Something about the option to open his eyes and see who it was, was a thrilling thought, but Remus wasn’t about to break the rule though his thoughts tempted him to go against it. Instead of finding the man’s ear, his lips brushed against the man’s cheek, smiling for a moment but didn’t pull away despite the slight target he missed. He chuckled smoothly and nodded against the man’s face. “As long as we-”
Then, as soon as those words left his mouth, he felt a pair of lips being pressed against him and slowly his lips parted. Before he could open his mouth more, the stranger pulled away. Confused, Remus followed the movement, not wanting what just happened to stop so abruptly. And then he heard that voice and his eyes flew open and a breath caught in his throat.
“Fuck,” he said aloud, foolishly repreminding himself and unable to draw a single coherant thought about what happened. “G-Gideon? What-I-Fuck, I’m sorry,” Remus said shakily, weakly shaking his head. No, he didn’t just kiss Gideon. The one person he was hoping he didn’t see tonight and yet it was the only one he managed to be with in this moment right now. “I didn’t mean to…I didn’t know-but, of course it’s you.”
Gideon was still smiling smally, but Remus didn’t seem to be handling the situation as well. He thought back to the last time he’d seen Remus, sitting in his sister’s living room curled on the couch, explaining to him why they couldn’t see each other anymore, why there couldn’t be anything more between them than friendship. And now they were here, somehow. But of course it was Remus. Gideon didn’t know what to say, pressed his lips into a tight little smile as Remus stumbled over his words and he didn’t know what to say for himself because what could he possibly say?
“Of course,” he agreed smally his voice quiet. His hands were still holding Remus, and his back was still pressed firmly to the wall, and he felt oddly tense where he stood because he didn’t want to leave that moment. Gideon didn’t believe in what ifs, but in that moment he wished that he hadn’t taken Remus’s mask off. Maybe they could have kept their eyes closed and the dream could have lasted a little bit longer for him. He let out a bit of a breath, tried to ignore the racing of his heart as he explained breathlessly, “I... I thought it was weird, that this would be happening with a stranger of sorts, I...”
He stopped, swallowed, pulled Remus a bit closer as he asked, “you want to leave now, don’t you?” And his heart ached.
Shocking Allowances || Emmeline
“People will accept a lot of things when they’re scared.” Emm said. She didn’t much like it either. Unforgivables sent people straight up to the long-term care wards. There was no real treatment for what they did to people. They could work to ease the final symptoms, but often there was no reversal. Not in any way that really mattered.
She chewed on the inside of her lip and stared down at the table. There wasn’t anything she could do. Not even the Order could reverse this one. No matter how hard they worked or what subterfuge they ran.
“Kingsley’s with you there. As am I. Less people I have to diagnose with things I can’t treat, the better.”
I’m only of the wishing that everyone in the office was of the agreeing with you, me, and Kingsley,” he reached for his tea as h spoke though he wasn’t really thirsty for it anymore. Rather than being more awake it would have been nice to go home and climb into his bed. Wrap himself up in Fabian and fall asleep reassured that he at least would be safe. But he had work to finish, work that the ministry was making it easier for them to fight more lethally rather than save lives as they should have been.
“If only I could be to the getting of these contraptions prototyped and approved for mass Order and Auror use faster,” he mused, looking down at the plans in front of him for a one-time use shield capsule for those rendered wandless. “So it would be to the making unforgiveables seem less easy of a choice.” He couldn’t imagine ever considering unforgiveable curses as a choice in the first place, let alone the easy choice. He’d become an Auror alongside his twin to keep people safe, not to be responsible for hurting and controlling and killing others as anything other than an absolute last resort.
More New Things || Remus
It was a few days after the full moon and Remus was unbearably exhausted and near sick to his stomach the past two days. Luckily, he offered a passable excuse to the store, passable to release him from the rest of his shifts that week. This full moon was different and he wasn’t ready to face anyone quite yet. Every part of him seared with pain when he moved and it was on the second day that he willed himself to get out of bed and head to the Burrow, somewhere away from his flat. He sent a letter in advance letting them know he was coming over. The Weasley’s were always able to make him feel welcomed and cheer him up enough to be distracted by the tensing thoughts.
The house was quite silent when he entered, Remus about to leave before Arthur told him Molly and the children went out for some more shopping and would return soon. He made tea for Remus as he waited before slipping back to whatever he had been working on before. Remus slumped into a chair in the living room, tea perched on the table beside him and a book in his lap that he brought.
Tiredness dragged on him, Remus rereading the same paragraph multiple times. There was no possible way he could focus. He jumped slightly when he heard the door creak open, expecting it to be Molly and the boys but felt his chest tighten at Gideon entering. “Gideon, hey,” Remus managed, blinking away his confusion before smiling widely at him. He furrowed his brows at the book, the name leaving his memory and instead flipping it over and reading out loud, “Hemingway.” In a brief movement, he closed the book and replaced it on the side table, sipping at his tea instead. “You are um. Back from work?”
He could tell the moment he settled beside Remus that the man was somehow even more worn out than usual. His voice was soft and he seemed a little lost. “Hey,” he repeated with a soft, affectionate sort of grin of his own, nodding when Remus read the title of his book to him as if he’d forgotten for himself what he’d been reading. Maybe he hadn’t really been reading at all. The thought of it made Gideon want to slip a blanket over the other man, make him something warm to drink and maybe get him to take a nap. Remus Lupin wasn’t good at taking care of himself, it was so strange for someone so gentle and caring of others.
“I’m back from work-! Wh-” Remus had turned to face a bit more towards him and hazel eyes did a double take back to the very new and very visible scar tearing across his face. His mouth hung slightly open, worry in his eyes, “your face...”
As immediately as he saw it he could guess what had happened. He’d found out so many thing about Remus when they had last seen each other, had realized an important secret about him but he hadn’t thought much more about the fact that Remus was a werewolf until that moment, seeing his face scarred irreparably. Werewolf scars didn’t heal, he knew that from school. he hadn’t thought about it before, but now he was remembering that the full moon had been only a few days before, and now Remus was sat on his sister’s couch and something horrible must have happened.
“Did you... Did you do this to yourself? Can I touch you?” His hands were already listing smally in front of him but he wouldn’t touch Remus if he didn’t want him to, he was just so worried for him. “What happened?”
Two Figures
While Remus did have affections for people like anyone would, he never really acted on them and he was fortunate this was easy. The whole day had been simple and fun; Gideon had been what he needed. During the date he hadn’t thought of anything bad or negative except for not feeling enough, but it was better than sulking about everything else. Something he would be doing if he wasn’t with Gideon. He wanted to be in the moment and Gideon made it effortless to do so.
Remus was grinning as he watched Gideon’s features lighten at his agreement, releasing a small chuckle. Before he could offer his hand, he watched as Gideon trailed off as he made his way down the hallway. When he returned, Remus could barely make out Gideon’s face as the many sheets covered him.
“Are you sure you’ve got enough-,” Remus began, teasing before he was loaded with an assortment of sheets surrounding him. For a moment he tilted his head back and laughed before attempting to wrestle his way out of the sheets. “Somewhere, yeah.” When he emerged from the pool of sheets, his hair was skewed and his lips were pulled into a wide grin. “Ah, there you are.”
Remus’s voice and laughter were so muffled behind the pillows and blankets piled on top of him, Gideon could only laugh along with him himself, and they both managed to get Remus free from the shoulders up at least easily enough. He looked so ruffled when he reappeared, his already messy brown locks messier and the grin on his face all to enticing and Gideon’s cheeks almost felt sore for all of the grinning and laughing he was doing with Remus. He felt oddly electric in the nicest ways. “Here I am,” he agreed with Remus. “Nice to be seeing your beautiful face again.”
Remus did look beautiful, in that moment. Gideon could remember so many times before that he’d felt Remus was beautiful, but he hadn’t said it then, and it seemed unfair now somehow that he hadn’t. Letting out a little laugh under his breath, he looked Remus in the eyes and assured him, “you’re very beautiful.” And he took Remus’s face into his hands, kissing him square on the forehead before pulling away again entirely with a mischievous look on his face. “Now let’s get to the building of our fort!” He grabbed some sheets from the stack on Remus and got to work, fully expecting the younger to man to follow suit along with him. His mind was still on Remus as he explained while they worked, and it was clear in the way he spoke, as if he couldn’t keep his mind on the task at hand as he was never want to do. “We’ll be needing... So we can be hanging a sheet up here... And one over there... We’ll be needing walls... Definitely.”
He kept looking back to Remus, laughing under his breath.

It’s the best picture because they look like they’re gonna slam some dunks but they’re totally not dressed to be slamming any dunks.
