[Description: a looping bouncy animation of grace and Rocky from project hail mary. Grace throws himself onto rocky for a hug, smiling and nuzzling his face to the top of Rocky's xenonite covered carapace. Rocky brings a claw up to ruffle Grace's hair and grace throws himself even more on top of rocky, rocky wrapping his arms around grace. End description.]
happy happy 30th birthday to the book series that changed my life!!!
animorphs is my all-time favorite piece of fiction and i’m in the middle of this huge painting for it, but figured i’d post this WIP anyways since its june 1! hopefully the full piece will be done by the end of the month :-)

pov: grace tries to explore outside the biodome, only to find himself in a first person horror game in a foggy pitch dark hellscape with many alien rock spiders, scuttling in and out of the darkness. at least they're all friendly!
i miss my friends (i still see them regularly but i don't get to see *that* part of them)
you cant just say that man
Getting caught up on CR and I must ask - what's gayer:
gay people
whatever body-horror, homo-erotic situation Halandir and Bolaire have going on

I can finally use my computer again!!!
Anyway here's a Bird
actually I lied, this was the funniest part of that doctor's appointment
Sometimes I'll be looking at bullshit online that I know will just rile me up and I have to think of this image to get myself to stop
The stars are so different under this sky…..
I think I have a terrible idea...
So I've been working on quilting my Magnus Archives quilt (The Vast Quilt) and after several years I'm getting close to being done.
I want to embroider the Ex Altiora statement around the quilt in green thread to give it that extra TMA link. My husband and I both agreed that it would look best on the dark blue, but be more balanced on the medium blue.
Which leaves the dark blue border... And folks you have to know how painfully tempting it is to embroider the fact that "The Magnus Archives is a podcast..."
Can I justify three years of my life on a shitpost?
So the answer is I'm not going to do that, but I am embroidering the statement until I run out of room. Let's goooo!
sweet beast
welcome to the holocene little one, we’ve waited so long for you
This brought tears to my conservationist heart today.
The continued existence of these species is the legacy of so many people whose names we will never know--some of who never lived to see the impacts of their work.
When you count up the flaws of our species, you have to count the good things too--out of the many species throughout Earth's history that have caused the demise or endangerment of other species, we are the only one that tries to fix it out of our fascination and love for other life forms.
(Big thank you to the anonymous asker who sent this in!)
Earth Day reblog of this thing that made me cry.
And I'll add some other recent good conservation news.
•Green sea turtles are no longer endangered
•Giant pandas are no longer endangered
•Panamanian golden frogs were returned to the wild for the first time since they were wiped out by chytrid 17 years ago
•The Eastern humpback whale population has exceeded pre-whaling numbers and many other whale species are showing strong signs of recovery
•Salmon and bison have been returned to their former habitat in multiple parts of the US through dam removal, habitat restoration, and reintroduction
•The Western monarch migration was up 60% compared to last year
•Galapagos tortoises were reintroduced to Floreana for the first time in 180 years
•Attenborough's long beaked echidna was rediscovered after being though extinct for decades
•Five "lost" island bird species were documented by citizen scientist birders in 2025
Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die.
there a lot of details of american macroculture that have caused what I'd describe as a reality fracturing mental reset when I learned about them. one was learning that children do literally swear their allegiance to the american flag every morning before school and that's not a quaint comedic exaggeration left over from the 1950s like rabbit ears on a TV. one was learning that Americans have to pay for ambulance transportation. one was learning that Americans are taught the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were tough brave necessities that made the world safer and not horrific war crimes on a footing with the nazi holocaust.
and one was learning that the cultural cachet of veggietales is completely unironic and a lot of you watched the parables of God from the bible and his son jesus christ the cgi vegetable for real real and thought it was good, no goofing, not a bit
most pathetic useless unreflective oblivious not even enjoying the fruits of their rapacious solipsism people on earth. at least do everyone the courtesy of shutting the fuck up.
If you're an American and this has you feeling defensive, here's a good video to watch while you consider why you feel the impulse to defend the nuclear bombing of two civilian targets.
You were probably taught in high school that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed to *save* lives. You have probably learned a lot since high school, it's time to learn some more.
