I read somewhere once that Gege wrote Megumi as a representation of depression, and that JJK fans basically treat him the same way depression is treated by society. As a joke, and I can't disagree. Especially with how lately people who can barely comprehend two sentences slander him.
Megumi was a gifted child whom some adults put a lot of pressure on with their expectations, and who, along the way, lost people he deeply cherished and cared for. Hell, his own father was absent before eventually dying. I mean, he basically had to watch how his own two hands killed the two most crucial people in his life. I can't even imagine the pain he felt after Gojo dying, especially. After all, Gojo was the only constant adult figure in his life who didn't treat him any differently than he would any other child. To him, Megumi was just Megumi. Not a Zenin, not Toji's child, and I believe that it brought a lot of comfort to Megumi who was already broken to some degree. I know that I am probably reading too much into it, lol.
Idk why people treat him so much like a punching bag lately (the jokes got old, imo). But hey, I love Megumi and how complex he is. I can relate to him in a lot of ways as well since I was a gifted child myself who had a lot of high expectations put on her by the adults. I just wish he wasn't slandered as much.
