the younger siblings

i had a long 8 hour flight and the whole time i was thinking: “hey what if the friend group had younger siblings?” and while i was thinking, i came to the conclusion that only festus, livia, and hilarius could have younger siblings. like the others (clem, felix, pippa) all give me the vibe that they’re an only child, and vip gives me youngest child vibes.

festus, he definitely has younger brothers. he gives off older brother vibes. @fairyhagmother has two ocs named cat and val creed and they’re festus’ younger brothers!

for hilarius and livia, i tend to imagine that their siblings are close in age as them. since most people have their kids two years apart, so i just imagine their younger siblings two years younger than them.

in my headcanons, livia has two brothers- one younger and one older. but the older one dies, and the younger one is more favoured and cared for after older one’s death, and livia gets overlooked. livia hates lucius due to this fact; he gets favored over her, and well, she’s jealous.

thessina heavensbee

for hilarius, he and thessina are on better terms than livia and lucius. hilarius and thessina are like usual siblings; they bicker, they joke, they bully their parents together, etc. their parents hate the both of them so they don’t really care about favoritism.

lucius and thessina are classmates, they’re not necessarily friends, but they tolerate each other :)

Just thinking about how everyone compares Katniss and Sejanus, but actually, the parallel is with Reaper, not Sejanus.

Sejanus actively wanted to be a rebel, actively wanted to improve the lives of the Districts and to take away power from the Capitol. Katniss never wanted to be the leader of a rebellion. All she cared about was keeping her family safe. She was not the rebel, not like Gale was.

Reaper's actions in the movie - despite not being considered a rebel - affected the narrative deeply. This was someone, who just by existing, went against Dr. Gaul's beliefs and challenged the games. Much like Katniss and the nightlock. Both of them were accidental symbols; The Mockingjay and The Reaper.

They were hunters with the ability to kill, but they valued human lives and saw them as just that; human, and therefore with worth. Even when Katniss takes 3 lives, they were never intentional or with malice; despite the fact she could've been the deadliest hunter in the arena. Same goes for Reaper; someone who apologised to the tributes beforehand that he would have to kill them, and ended up taking no lives. They both could've been sole victors, but instead they chose another path, a way without violating their own beliefs.

They were the Protectors, taking a younger tribute under their wing and devoting their time to solely them, before reacting with such intense emotions when Dill and Rue died that, in Reaper's case, he defied the games and did not care if he survived, and in Katniss', she took a life. They were the very symbol of rebellion inside the games, the only tributes we know who honoured another after their death, proving that even though Gaul and Snow thought otherwise, people are inherently good, that violence was not the default state.

Reaper took down the capitol flag and properly covered the bodies of every tribute he could find, honouring them in a way that the Capitol had failed them. Katniss had sung to Rue, staying with her in her final moments and then covering her body in flowers. The knew the Capitol was watching, and they refused to let them forget that children had been killed. Reaper and Katniss held the Capitol accountable. They refused to let them forget that what had happened was unforgivable. That a war years ago was no excuse for the pain and suffering inflicted upon the districts. A reminder that their lives were not a spectacle; that the games were real and not just something that the Districts watched through a screen; that actions had consequences.

On a side note, something that pained me is that people pay more attention to Katniss' honouring of Rue, of her humanity and her rebellion. The people of Panem, that is. For when Reaper had torn down the flag and drawn attention to the brutality of the games, he had been silenced. Dr Gaul had interrupted the feed. She tore the Capitol's attention away from his rightful accusations, away from the morality of their own actions, and distracted them with the news of the death of a Capitol student. Gaul interrupted the honouring of the tributes that had been killed by the Games to force their attention onto a singular person affected by the Games. Only, the Capitol cared more for the death of one of their own than the slaughter of innocents at their own hands. And then when he died, everyone forgot about him in favour of talking about the singer that kept the snakes at bay.

Reaper deserved better. His legacy lives on in Katniss.

i’m so tired of how much hate there is is the world. everyone hates everyone. everyone hates on everything. things are funny for a week and then everyone switches up, everyone hates it. everything is immediately “cringey” or “over” or “done with”.

anything deemed as “basic” or “mainstream” is bad, because why would you want to be like other people? why wouldn’t you want to be your own person?

by the way, the things you like determine who you are.

by the way, if you support this you’re terrible and if you don’t support this you’re terrible too.

live in a grey area at all times because nothing is definite, and nothing is black and white.

but also, hate everything that’s confusing, and scream at people on the internet who ask others for help.

everyone is too soft and everyone is too kind, wake up! oh but of course, don’t forget that if you’re too firm then you’re close minded and idiotic.

if you joke about this you’re a terrible person, but if you’re too serious about it then you’re a prick.

you’re bullied if you show any sense of individuality, and the world relentlessly tries to villainize you if you’re different.

don’t be too basic, but don’t be too weird!

keep up with the trends, and make sure to ditch them once they’re over.

pick out tiny little flaws and obsess over those flaws, pick out tiny little good parts and obsess over those, but don’t forget the full picture!

how can you exist in this world? how can you be yourself when there will always be someone who hates you for that?

everyone hates everyone and i’m so tired of seeing it everywhere. hate seeps into the tiniest cracks until it’s breaking apart the concrete of our societies.

we’re all going to die either way. who cares what happens after? don’t be restricted by fear. don’t be restricted by hate.

i’m tired of being affected by all this hate. guess what? i love myself. i love my body. i love my perspective on the world. i love my interests. i love who i am. that doesn’t make me selfish.

the hate is everywhere and you can’t escape it. but why not try? try to live without it. try to love yourself, and try to love the people around you.

you can recognize flaws in something while loving it. you can recognize the good in something while disliking it.
