The loneliness can be suffocating, and the fear of not being able to provide the love and support my childrens deserves weighs heavily on my heart. But despite the challenges, I refuse to give up hope. trans women are women. trans men are men. there has never been a world without trans people and the world without trans people will never exist.

as a cis woman, seeing other cis women say such vile transphobic things in the name of “feminism” is heartbreaking. no, you’re not being a feminist by trying to exclude fellow women from being women just because their journey towards womanhood is different from yours, you’re only making it easier for your country to maybe one day take away your rights too. because if the court can target and say if a woman isn’t woman “enough”, how do you know they won’t one day target you too? how do you know if you will always be “enough” of a woman to them?

they target trans women now, who knows which minority they’ll target next? black women? asian women? disabled women? queer women? you?

Living as a lesbian in Kakuma Refugee Camp is not just a struggle for survival; it is a daily battle against discrimination, violence, and lack of basic human rights. Many of us have fled persecution in our home countries, seeking safety, but instead, we face harassment, physical attacks, and exclusion from essential services. The situation is even harder for single mothers like me, raising children in an environment where both our identities and our dignity are constantly under threat.

As a mother of two—one of whom has special needs—life in the camp is overwhelming. Access to medical care, education, and safe shelter is a challenge. Many organizations turn a blind eye to our struggles, leaving us vulnerable and isolated. Finding work is nearly impossible due to discrimination, and resources for LGBTQ+ refugees are extremely limited.

I am reaching out for financial support to help provide food, medical care, and a safe space for my children.
