Is prom even worth it?
Jeremy quirked an eyebrow as she was so frank about what he did when he was away.
“Yeah you’re right. It’s hunting. I’m not like ashamed I just don’t like to bring that stuff home to you and Mila and… you know it’s like a different life. “
But then Jeremy felt like he’d had cold water dumped on him. He was stuck, frozen, sort of just staring at Maggie as she pitched out the most ridiculous idea he’d ever fucking heard.
“No. Maggie, you’re hilarious but no. It’s not happening. I’m sorry Mags.”
He gave her shoulder a squeeze, but Maggie as pretty agreeable, she didn’t argue too much and he figured if he closed of the issue she would drop it.
“You need to be worrying about what color your prom dress is going to be and about acing your final exams. Alright. I’m serious. You need to focus on what’s going on in your life now. Leave the rest of the world to me. You don’t need to grow up any faster than you are already.”
Brows furrowing, Margaret stepped away from his touch, head shaking slightly. Naturally this would come off as a joke. She should've known. The blonde swallowed, now growing annoyed as she poured the noodles into the pot, a hand running through her hair.
"'I'm serious, Jer. I'm sick of being the kid. I'll be eighteen soon. The self defense classes are a joke at school. I..." She fell silent, her mouth opening, though no words came out at that point.
"I just want to be a part of something."
She faced him, now offering him a small smile. "Please, Jer."
