unlikely allies. sif & bucky
Fight is something that is incredibly short lived, much shorter than he would have expected. Ah, of course. Just when he thinks that he finds an enemy that has a good fight in them, they turn around and disappoint. Only, that wasn’t the entire case here. There was someone else that had gotten involved, only he didn’t quite notice until the enemies laid sprawled at their feet and his attention had turned to the woman. Gaze suspiciously narrows as he moves from the spot he remained, taking a few steps to the side.
Something is definitely off here, with her.
Then she speaks, and it causes for his suspicions to be confirmed. As of late, he’s met a few people that… weren’t quite from around here. With so much happening, it seems that everyone affected is getting involved. As if one fate, connected to the fate of many. Then again, he’s never been one to really believe in such a thing. It’s only what he has heard in the past, even if it sounds a bit silly to him. He assumes, that this is one of those. Which makes him tread a bit more careful. Because the last thing that he needs out here? Is anymore enemies. He already has a long enough list of those.
Lips purse, and a breath is drawn. “That depends.” Gaze narrows, and he waves a dismissive hand towards the bodies that are still splayed across the ground. So far, they seem to show no promise that they were going to wake up anytime soon. “Are you looking for trouble, specifically, or are you out here on a mission?”
Sif cannot make out his face in the dark, and his voice gives no further indication of his identity. Not that she was planning on knowing any stranger just walking about the street. But there was something in the way he had fought that told her he wasn’t just an inhabitant of the realm. It was more than that. It sufficed to say that Sif was reasonably wary.
His rebuttal causes her to bristle a bit, her old Asgardian pride rearing its head in the face of his perceived ingratitude. Sif lets out a breath, cocking an eyebrow as she eyes him. “Not trouble, if you couldn’t notice how I aided you only moments ago.” The statement is punctuated with a slight huff.
“But I have to admit, you held your own for quite a while.” In a show of peace, she lowers her hands, stance still tensed in the case of any conflict. “A mission, though, is...not far off the mark. You are no regular citizen, then. Not with that set of skills.”
Her gaze flickers down to their fallen assailants for a moment. The adrenaline running in her veins has calmed slightly, her nerves less frayed from the midst of combat. And still, her curiosity is peaked to who this is.
