These homemade burger buns are soft, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. They will take your burger game to the next level!
Ingredients: 4 cups all-purpose flour. 2/3 cup warm milk. 2/3 cup warm water. 2 tablespoons sugar. 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt. 1 egg yolk, beaten for egg wash. Sesame seeds optional, for topping.
Instructions: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, and sugar. Sprinkle active dry yeast over the mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the flour mixture. Mix until it forms a dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover the dough balls with a kitchen towel and let them rest for 15 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375F 190C. Brush the tops of the dough balls with the beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the buns are golden brown. Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before slicing and using for your favorite burgers.
