A Place of Rage (Pratibha Parmar, 1991)
This exuberant celebration of African American women and their achievements features interviews with Angela Davis, June Jordan, and Alice Walker [as well as Trinh T. Minh-ha]. Within the context of the civil rights, Black power and feminist movements, the trio reassess how women such as Rosa Parks and Fannie Lou Hamer revolutionized American society.

I have felt myself become a servant of sadness. I am still looking for the beauty in that.

I really am crying
One of the best coffee places I’ve ever been to.
so i might be going to venice next summer and would LOVE to be able to speak some italian while i’m there - any recommendations for good italian workbooks for beginners? personally i don’t love apps, i much prefer learning through textbooks and videos
If this essay doesn’t kill me, nothing will. I’m currently grappling with the concept of connecting Du Bois’ concept of double consciousness with post-structuralism. I don’t know whether I’m being very clever or very stupid. (x)
still on contracts. my new system for working through concepts i dont understand is to map it all out on a big sheet of paper to see the whole idea or the general flow— it helps me from getting too stuck in the details of a concept and to see how to move forward. i also like to take a deep breath and a sip of tea to find my center.
you are capable. you can do this. hope everyone is having a good and safe week so far.
every book i’ve ever read is now deeply rooted in my personality and self-identity i cannot change this

one of the books i’ll be reading this semester is L. P. Hartley’s ‘The Go-Between’. i like to read a book at least once before i properly study it (that way i can be more aware of things like foreshadowing and recurring motifs), so this is my first read-through - you can see my initial thoughts written in the margins!
i’m very grateful for this beautiful wooden table at my neighbour’s house, where i’m currently reading and babysitting, because it makes a great base for photos. before you keep scrolling, try to think of one thing you’re grateful for too.
hello everyone! i’ve been absent because i’ve had no work to do! however, uni starts in september and i’m planning to get a headstart on my texts for this semester, so hopefully i’ll have some book annotation content coming soon :)
Jan 3 / the best thing to happen this semester has been this assignment on Rivendell and its place in Middle Earth. it's making me wish I could do fantasy research for a living.
