I’ve designed some (very cheap) dark academia-inspired bookplates! bookplates are pasted in the fronts of books to show ownership. they’re PDF downloads with all 4 prints in any purchase + 2 colour versions ✧
The weekend again: pink early evening light in the flat, long showers, a walk down to the river and back, small pleasures
07.10.20 / some hard hitting lines from a book i started reading last night. i’m feeling a bit melancholy today but i’m trying to channel it into writing. i hope your week is going well so far ♡
Academia is cool and sexy until I’m expected to do work
You know how black people have been pointing out that white women benefit from white supremacy and will always choose white supremacy over solidarity with PoC? And how white women are just as willing to abuse and harm PoC--especially black people? And how white women have a long history of lying and manipulation to appear harmless and soft while reaping the benefits of white supremacy at the expense of black people especially?
Because all of that's pretty fucking important to the issue of justice for Daunte Wright.

Study for a young man dancing ,1680-1682.
Some periods of our growth are so confusing that we don't even recognize that growth is happening. We may feel hostile or angry or weepy and hysterical, or we may feel depressed. It would never occur to us, unless we stumbled on a book or a person who explained to us, that we were in fact in the process of change, of actually becoming larger, spiritually, than we were before. Whenever we grow, we tend to feel it, as a young seed must feel the weight and inertia of the earth as it seeks to break out of its shell on its way to becoming a plant. Often the feeling is anything but pleasant. But what is most unpleasant is the not knowing what is happening. Those long periods when something inside ourselves seems to be waiting, holding its breath, unsure about what the next step should be, eventually become the periods we wait for, for it is in those periods that we realize that we are being prepared for the next phase of our life and that, in all probability, a new level of the personality is about to be revealed.
