hey, if you’re bi/pan/ply and call yourself gay or a lesbian, that’s ok.
if you’re a bi man who reclaims slurs like “fag”, a bi woman who reclaims “dyke”, or a nonbinary person who reclaims either or both, that’s ok.
you’re not hurting anyone by using gay/lesbian as an umbrella term or reclaiming slurs that were historically used against all of us.

So i got into this argument with a dude on insta, and he was talking about how feminism is just reverse sexism. There were a lot of people backing him so imma just explain how people with this mindset are wrong.
Feminism was made because women were abused,made inferior, and pushed into stereotypes and societal norms. It was a concept created to fight back against the patriarchal society that we live in.
Feminism was made for the 17 year old girls that were forced to leave their education because they were a female.
Feminism was made for the girls who were abused and pushed around by their husbands.
Feminism was made for the girls that were told that their only purpose is to cook,clean, take care of their husbands and give birth to children.
Feminism was a beacon of hope for the oppressed and mistreated woman and girls all around the world.But eventually, as the world evolved so did feminism. It was not only there for women, it was also there for men. Because we as feminists realised that standards and societal norms can go both ways.
Feminism was there for the boys who were told that crying wasn’t manly.
Feminism was there for the men who were told that wearing dresses, putting on makeup, and feeling pretty was ‘gay’.
Feminism was there for the men and boys that were sexually assaulted but never believed because ‘men cant get sexually assaulted’.
Feminism is about abolishing our patriarchal society, a society that affects women AND men. Yes there are some women who go overboard with the KAM (Kill All Men) jokes, and want to enact reverse sexism, but those women are not feminists. They are just people who are so angry that instead of abolishing the problem, they are just reversing it so it suits them. They are horrible people, period.
So no Chad, feminism isn’t a bunch of women trying to oppress men. If you think that men are getting oppressed, that just your blatant stupidity and idiotism. You think that when a man is forced to take accountability for something horrible he did, he is being oppressed. Thats only because you are so used to women being mistreated, and men being pushed into set moldes that you think like this.
“Reversed sexism” has become a mechanism for people to continue calling women out instead of actually addressing the problem. Cause why would a man ever want to admit his mistake when he could continue putting other women down.
And this has gone so far that now there is either hatred within the people of the same gender, tearing each other down, or, even worse, internalised misogyny. The idea that a woman isn’t equal has been engrained in our heads so much that we even put ourselves down because of it.
Literally my entire conception of romance and attraction comes from weird creepy Wattpad fanfics and every time I read them I’m like, “Does this actually happen to human beings I interact with???” and then I question the purpose of humanity as majority of the population is staring at a person behave like everyone else in the room, because, well, that’s attraction…..
