one of the aspects of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes I find funniest:

Caesar, at the human colony: Hey, so one of you shot Ash, and that's not cool. But so long as you stay on YOUR side of the bridge, humans and apes don't have to fight. Deal? Deal. 'Kay bye. Koba: My history with humans is a literal, actual horror story--but I actually seem reasonably okay with this set up, because I just love and trust Caesar so much! No tragic villain arcs over here, no sir-- Malcolm: Hello Koba:... Caesar: ... Koba: Can...can we help you? Malcolm: Hey, so I know one of my people shot yours and you were nice enough to just tell us to stay away instead of picking a fight...but can me and some other humans just. Come into your forest and stay anyway? Would that be cool? Koba: I beg your pardon? Malcolm: It's so we can get the dam working, which would help empower my colony Koba: I BEG YOUR PARDON??? Caesar: Well. Uh. Would us apes get anything out of this deal? Malcolm: Nope! This would only benefit us humans. Caesar: Uhhh. Okay. Well, did you bring us any sort of peace offering? Caesar: Okay, so no peace offering, no apology, and not even any benefit to my people if we let you stay. WHY should I go back on my word for the sake of your humans? What argument do you have? Sometimes I just sit and think about Caesar's nostrils. His fuckass slits for a nose. Real life chimpanzees have more Round Open nostrils. How does Caesar smell anything. If you asked him to do a line of coke he physically couldn't do it. Nothing can get up there

So, I've recently gotten reinterested in the Planet of the Apes Rise/Dawn/War trilogy thanks to the upcoming release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (gesundheit).

And after careful examination of these films, I feel like I can safely conclude that all this franchise wants to do is hurt me.

For instance...

Has anyone else noticed the parallels between one of Koba's scenes in Rise and another in Dawn?

In Rise, in the lab, an overhead shot shows Koba lying flat on his back and looking around the room, right before the scientists infect him with the virus and change his life forever.

In Dawn, inside the dam, we have an overhead shot of Koba, again, lying flat on his back and looking around the room right after Caesar has violently attacked him and shattered Koba's trust in him, again another huge change to Koba's character.

Maybe that's even one of the reasons Koba turned on Caesar: because he made him feel like a helpless lab animal again.

I just. I have a lot of feelings. Over cgi talking apes. Someone help.

Wow, I've seen and analyzed the movies millions of times and I hadn't noticed that. And now that you mention it makes all the sense in the world, in the prison Caesar physically abused Koba (which completely destroyed all the love and trust that Koba had in Caesar) and in the laboratory there was also that type of abuse in the that he was helpless without the ability to move. God, every time I analyze everything related to Koba, it destroys me more and more.
