TOP 5 THINGS TO AVOID DOING ON A FIRST DATE---or even the second, third or fourth.
O.K. so you have a first date, how exciting! Now, letâs make sure (if you like the person) that you get a second date. Especially as we get older, many people fall into very bad dating habits. So, Iâve compiled a list based on my experience as a matchmaker. Letâs face it, you donât want to go to the trouble of getting all decked out for a date or shelling out a lot of cash on the date only to âblowâ it, right? And Iâve heard it so many timesâpeople have no idea what they did wrong. Or worse, they think everything went well, only to find out---IT DID NOT.
So, here is a list of the top 5 things to avoid doing on the first date---or even the second, third or fourth.
 1.    WHATâS UP DOC?
This is where you are on your date, maybe have had a glass or wine or two and you feel so comfortable with your date you feel compelled to reveal your deep dark secrets. NEVER do this!! No one deserves to hear about your dirty little secrets and even though they might seem captivated by your stories, I assure you, all they really feel is held captive. Your date is not your therapist, please always remember that.
 2.    ARRRGHHHH
A big turn off for anyone is when you go out with someone and they get angry about little things. Quite frankly no one should be getting angry on a first date for any reason really. I mean you donât know this personâso keep it together. Do not get mad at the valet, the hostess, the waitress and especially donât get mad at your date. Relax, have fun, be light. Chill out! No one wants to go out with someone wound tight. What youâll end up doing is running your date off in the opposite direction because they donât know you well enough. So they walk away with the impression that you are âtoo intenseâ. And âtoo intenseâ too soon---is never good. Â
 3.    CIA INTERVIEW
This is where you go on your date and proceed to grill the hell out of the person across the table from you! Dates should not be interviews. That is such a big mistake so many people make. Have a conversation where you ask questions and you answer questionsâbut the best thing you can do is just be an INTERESTING conversationalist. Talk about pop culture, current events, hobbies, and passions. You will get the answers to the questions you want to know as it comes up naturally over the course of several dates.
 4.    ME ME ME
This is the opposite of the interviewer. And you also donât want to go to the other extreme where you literally monopolize the entire conversation and NEVER ask your date one question. This happens all the time. Itâs horrible and usually, people are not even aware that they are doing it. Â And it makes for a very boring one-way street---where your date will be beating a path out of there as fast as they can.
 5.    MARRIAGE and BABIES
Ready to start your future? Great, just keep it to yourself for the time being. Telling a first date that you want to get married or have kids in the near future or even worse telling them that you could see it all with themâŠ.will not only frighten them, but it will also make you seem desperate and that is NOT SEXY. No one wants to rush into anything with a stranger and if they doâyou should turn and run.
In closing, there are of course a few more things to keep in mind:
No phones out on the table.
Eyes on your date (not looking at everyone who walks by).
No sex
No talk of your ex or exes
And always say thank you. Thank you for my meal, thank you for your time and effort, etc..
So, remember---keep it light and fun, hide your crazy and enjoy yourself! Just go on your date to meet someone new and to have fun! If you have fun and are fun to be with that will help you get to date two, three, four and hopefully more.
