I have been working with my aunt in Lebanon (who has been doing this work for years) in launching an initiative to help bring Transcendental Meditation to victims of the Beirut Explosion, specifically to people struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or other mental health issues who may not have access to the resources to deal with their trauma.

Lebanon hasn’t been circulating in the news anymore, but it doesn’t mean that the suffering of my people has also stopped. With the current political and economic situation, as well as the devastating aftermath of the August 4th explosion in Beirut, Lebanon is in a mental health crisis.

Transcendental Meditation or TM, created by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, is a non-religious silent mantra meditation which’s positive health benefits have been backed by scientific studies. As someone who practices TM, I know firsthand the definite impact this practice has had on my mental health, creativity, and overall happiness.

The Lebanese people are resilient and strong but have gone through so much histo-political pain that a life of chaos has become normal. And with the stigmatizing and de-prioritizing of mental health in the Arab world, we often lack spaces to speak about , process, and heal generational trauma and the trauma we are experiencing today.

Please help me raise funds- which will be donated directly on the ground to TM teachers- to support the mental health of my country after one of the most traumatic events to happen to our country.
