D14 Medical Bay | Past (after re-humanization)
[Leo tossed uneasily in his sleep, unknowingly opening his mouth in a strange mockery of an animal baring its teeth. He awoke with a sharp gasp, struggling to his elbows and then falling back against the stiff, thin pillow behind him when the effort proved too much of a strain on his weak stomach muscles.
He blinked slowly, bringing a shaking hand to rub at his pounding head. His words scratched out painfully, sounding more sandpaper than voice.]
Wh…
Where the hell?
(Ginny turned toward the voice in the otherwise silent room, grinning as she caught sight of him.) Hullo! Water?
I’m sorry I — I didn’t mean to bother you.
Han?

I’m sorry I don’t go out and save the kittens from burning buildings or help little old ladies across the street, how evil of me.
It's not about saving kittens. Although, yes, that would be quite nice.

Thank you for the analysis, Dr. Freud.
I’m not frightened I’m irritated, I have nothing to be afraid of. Paylor, you, none of you can touch me I could snap your necks like a twig and before one of these branches touch the ground.
I’m far from a coward, I’m smart and I look out for my best interests. That makes me very honorable, I’m straight forward no matter what.
You're very welcome, Dr. Sarcasm!
That's very foolish thinking, Katherine. You know better than that.
You are cowardly. I'm not sure if you are honorable, and I don't really care, but you are a coward. That I know for a certainty.

Arthur shifted slightly higher into the bed so that he was semi-reclined. He liked being able to see where he was; could catch the exits and could see who was coming and going. They won’t come for me again.
Taking the glass in a shaky right hand, Arthur took a sip of the ice cold liquid the glass contained; his dried lips and throat rejoicing at the feeling.
"Thankyou," he said, in a less croaky but still hoarse voice. "My name is Arthur," he replied.
Not a Pendragon, not anymore. An echo, not worthy of the name he was born with.
"What… is yours?" he asked, as eased the water shakily onto the sliding table used for food. She looked vaguely familiar - but then again, at the moment, events since his arrival here had become pretty blurry.
"Arthur." Ginny tested the name on her tongue, frowning absently. Some part of her had been sure that with hearing the name she would suddenly remember, that the familiarity would be explained as though it had never troubled her. It didn't even matter, not really; she told herself it didn't matter, and still the dread found purchase, gripping her hard. She wanted to comfort him for something dreadful, but she had no clue what the dreadful event was. Granted, she didn't even know who Arthur was at all. Her thoughts drifted to magic.
"My name's Ginny," the red-haired girl answered with a tiny nod. Her eyebrows were slightly knit, her blue eyes troubled with thought. Perhaps she came off as worried, which suited Ginny just fine, although she was more anxious that she was worried for him. She coughed, ashamed at the thought. "Are you feeling all right?"

Arthur frowned at the voice that answered him. Not Amelia. Wincing, he brought his right hand up to rub the sleep from his eyes. When he did, he immediately felt silly. He could see where his mistake had been, but it was a stupid one. One he would never have made in the past.
Amelia wasn’t here… She, like Shawn and Ember were still in the Capitol. Where he wasn’t. He’d said he’d be there; he’d failed them. It was the cost of his freedom - but he wished their places could be switched.
" ‘M… I’m sorry… M’lady…" Arthur said, his voice croaky and hoarse from the long sleep. He hadn’t really spoken since waking up here before. Only to Jim, who had been here at the time. "… F-forgive my rudeness…"
His voice was very familiar. So oddly familiar, yet she knew she had never met him before. His face was completely new to her. "No, don't apologize. It wasn't rude, not at all." He must be one of the ones they had managed to rescue.
Ginny smiled uncertainly, reaching for a glass by the sink. She filled it with water before passing it to him, making sure he'd be able to drink it on his own. "Who are you?"

Now that he was trapped in the Medical Bay, Arthur Pendragon found himself sleeping a lot.
Whether this was from a combination of the drug cocktail he was being pumped with (under duress), or due to his body’s natural exhaustion after being pushed beyond it’s limits - he wasn’t sure. All Arthur did know, that as soon as he had woken up, he would be pulled back under. That had been the pattern since he had woken up from his first natural sleep over a number of days (Arthur had lost count).
But as he blinked heavily with sleep, Arthur - now lying on his side, frowned at the blurry figure beside him. Long hair that looked red to his glazed focus. Too long to be Natasha… But around the same length as..
" ‘Melia?…"
As soon as she'd walked into the medical bay, a warmness stirred in her stomach and throat. It was a lovely, gentle feeling; one that came on so suddenly that she would have been startled had it not brought about such a sweet relief. Her stomach had been clenching frequently, tighter and tighter by day. It had worried her so greatly, yet there was no one to tell, and now... The pain had gone. Completely.
Ginny let out a little sigh, freezing on the spot for fear that if she moved her stomach would convulse again. After a minute, she mustered the courage to take a tentative step forward. Then another. Another. A smile broke out on her face as the comfort held.
" 'Melia?"
The younger woman spun, her smile dimming as dread clenched her stomach in the pain's place. Amy. Someone thought she was Amy. Amy was gone, maybe even... "S-sorry, I'm not..."
Right, I figure it’s about time some of you less agile beings should start training properly. I’ll be holding self defence classes outside in five minutes. I don’t do this often, so I suggest you take my help whilst you still can.

S-sorry… [ she swallowed as she realized she apologized again. ]... I-I’m just used to saying sorry f-for everything… [ she shrugged ]
Not underground…. but something you could pick… I-Is it grown on a bush? l-like a berry?
I think it's grown on a tree... Not like a berry, no. Shoot, I've broken the rules... Whatever, go on!

reginaexdamnati:
That’s nice and you could have kept all of your mumbo-jumbo to yourself. I wouldn’t like to throw a knife at your head, more like rip out your throat. [ (even that would prove to be boring after a while, stuck here with no way out) ]
Hurting you, and possibly even killing you is in my nature. I don’t have a gentle heart, and playing nice isn’t exactly part of my rule book. Honestly, I should have my hands around your throat and start making demands to Paylor to give me a one way ticket out of this hell hole.
(A momentary quaver of distress filled her gaze until she forced her look to harden, simultaneously crossing her arms across her chest and refusing to shy away. Her words were hesitant, thinly-veiled with fool's confidence.) You don't frighten me, Katherine. You're just trying to come off as an irritable prick because you're frightened. You don't like it when people try to be nice to you, you don't like it when there's the possibility they could do you harm. You don't like the thought of what you perceive as vulnerability!
You're a coward is what you are! Cruel and insensitive to match, but a coward most of all. I'm not your enemy, Katherine. I'm not trying to manipulate you or...or...annoy you! So would you stop being so...so defensive?
