hi! you said to a different anon it'd be okay to ask for recommendations of places to visit in New Zealand? I'm going to be moving there to study next year so I'll have a couple months around the summer (year end) to go around. I love all things nature and there's such an overwhelming list of like places to go... would you mind giving me a few recs? Absolutely fine if not! Thanks ^^

Hobbiton - I don't know if you're a Lord of the Rings fan, but even if you aren't, this place is gorgeous and so much fun.

Rotorua - this is definitely more than a full day, I recommend a few days here

Weiheke island - just off from Auckland

Waitomo Caves

Tongariro National Park

Weta Workshop

Makara Walkway - very remote but absolutely gorgeous

South island:

Christchurch - there is soooo much to do here

Been traveling across Japan the last few weeks and was happy to see this in one of the train stations! It's the first Gintama thing I've seen the whole time I've been here.

The fandom has gotten really dark since you left.. certain shippers are really aggressive about their ships to the point of bullying. I kno you’ve dealt with stuff like that in the past and you handled it all so well I remember reading some anon asks.. any tips n’tricks?

OOF, WHELP -- not sure I'll be much help given that I have no idea what state the fandom is in. All I can really say is that you're going to find aggressive shippers no matter what fandom you're in. My method to dealing with people like that was to just block them and add them to my blacklist. The only times I ever engaged with them was if they came at me directly (which rarely happened -- the more aggressive they are, the more cowardly they were when it came to confrontation) or if they put a callout post about me directly in the main fandom tag. I always clapped back at those people just because like lol if you've got a problem with my fics or my decision to delete them all, okay cool, I don't care, but doing stuff like putting a long-winded complaint post in the main tag is so childish and stupid.

The best advice I think I can give for this is to just not care LOL I sure as hell never did and still don't. Never will! Shipping is supposed to be fun and the people who actively try and take that fun away from others are struggling with issues outside of fandom, but shipping is their outlet so that's where their aggression manifests. Happy people don't care about drama over fictional characters, so go be a happy person! Utilize that block option and live your best life!

It's a must, I had an incredible time! I was able to trek my way from the top of the North island to the bottom of the South island in a month and had an absolute blast, but there's still so much left I want to go back and do. As a Lord of the Rings nerd I was in heaven and got to visit a bunch of site locations, it was phenomenal. I just have an endless amount of good things to say and would encourage anyone to go there if they can! I actually fell in love with it to such a degree that I got a visitor visa so I can go back for an uninterrupted 3 month visit. Let me know if you'd like any details on the places I went to or want more information on anything. There's a pretty big difference between the North and South islands that are worth noting!

Thanks for the sentiment, anon! Unfortunately, I still won't say anything too personal on here, but I can give you some general life updates since you asked so nicely!

First and foremost, I'm a happy bean! The version of myself that started this blog wouldn't recognize the person I've become -- in a good way! I could never have guessed the success I'd see, the friends/family I'd make/be part of, or the life I'd live. That's what makes revisiting this blog every once in awhile so fun and nostalgic for me. Younger me really had no idea what was coming LOL

Next month I'm living out a dream of mine. I'll be in New Zealand the whole month going from the top of the North island to the bottom of the South island. Lord of the Rings has had a huge impact on me over the years so I've decided (along with certain people in my life) to go indulge in things like climbing Mount Ruapehu (Mount Doom), Mount Sunday (Edoras - capital city of Rohan), horseback riding along the coast, Hobbiton, Rotorua, Waitomo caves, Hooker Valley, whale watching, hiking -- the list goes on. I've always done a lot of traveling and have been to many places, but this trip will be very special and I'm counting down the days to departure! Though, I've got some fun things planned in the meantime such as guests next week and camping the week after. Always something to look forward to around here <3
