crackfic idea where giorno is just being absolutely heartbroken after learning that bruno had a steady loving relationship with another woman (and a child who looks just like him) after he's dead.. about who he never bothered to tell anyone on his team about because he valued his privacy. must be a mindfuck realizing you never knew anything about the person you loved and shared a dream about. except mistake, he just thinks that's neat
HEY!!!! Get OUTTA my HEAD!!! (Like actually!!)
I haven’t written a single word physically, but I’ve just been thinking about it in my head for… over a month I think?
It isn’t quite the same in my version tho. I just cannot reconcile that pre-canon Bruno was in a happy or fulfilling relationship, while saying his heart was dead, and he was totally at peace dying. (yes I know someone in a happy relationship can still be depressed/suicidal, but I don’t think that was what Bruno’s narrative/arc/characterization was suggesting).
I don’t believe for one second that Bruno with a CHILD would be so okay with dying. Bruno lives and dies by duty and responsibility toward others!! He would feel crushing responsibility to provide for and protect the fruit of his loins. Bruno greatly values the partent/child relationship, he is extremely idealistic about it. I believe it's a huge dream for him, one he’s forgotten/given up on in his miserable defeated state. If Bruno were heavy with child, well, his dangerous lifestyle is not ideal, he would have some paranoia, but he would be dizzy with bliss. He would NOT be okay with dying and leaving his very young child to its fate. Erm rant over.
So what I was thinking for this scenario, Bruno did have a relationship, but not a proper one. He was NOT a good bf, he was barely even a bf. He has a girl somewhere he met one day somehow, maybe lasting multiple years. He doesn’t introduce her to his friends, doesn’t take her on dates, doesn’t tell her anything about his life, or his work. He doesn’t vent about anything past age 11. His visits are very very sporadic, and communication is minimal. Sometimes he will visit a few times in one week, sometimes he will go dark for over a month.
What he does do is go to her place for sex (convenient and reliable, prefers this to randoms if he can help it, not interested in variety). Or he broods, or receives emotional labor/comfort. She fulfills some of his needs, temporary relief in a few different ways, but it isn’t enough to make him happy. Bruno is never vulnerable in a way that would form a deeper connection.
You may ask, why would this woman put up with it? Heh. Maybe this will answer your question:
So GW ends, Bruno is dead. F-preg. She tries to get in touch with him, but he is dead. She does manage to alert his widower.
Gio shows up and nicely but bluntly pretty much tells her she should give him the child (like it is a favor, and he expects her to immediately go for it). She is understandably offended, and asks him his age. Gio tells her he is twenty. She does not believe him.
The mask slips a bit as the conversation goes on, (he has clear hangups about young single mothers and their ability to raise children). Gio becomes more neurotic and irritated, despite trying to carry on with his characteristic charm-manipulation, but it doesn’t really work… cause like… you can’t just demand a woman give up her (unborn) newborn (to a teenager).
The story I have in mind would be titled Vedovi (widows) and it would be a platonic thing where they both cope with the loss of Bruno, his memory, and their respective complicated relationships with him. (barely knowing someone for a few years, vs knowing someone deeply for a week.)
Idk whether I’d ever make it, at least going beyond my google docs. Idk if there’d be much interest in an oc project, or if I’d want to put a lot of work into it.
Dawg if I was a horse in the steel ball run race do NOT let me near that stupid hat mullet ginger bitch there'd be hoof prints all over that mother fucker
I made a female Bruno comic on a whim! This is Post-canon.
additional context
(The rest is under the cut due to being a bit suggestive. )
After this, I imagine it's a very slow burn, Bruno realizes Giorno isn't just sexualizing her like the other men did, and he genuinely respects and likes her as a person. It develops slowly from a close friendship and partnership to romantic later on.
But I've also drafted a sequel comic with a different, more toxic end :)
It's still bullshit they instantly grow up. Isn't she BEAUTIFUL??? She has her fathers face but bruno's colors and nose. They decided to name her Winter (on the first day of summer).
I like brunos tortured expression it makes him so hot to me
Usually I'm into playful and coy characters with a touch of being pathetic, and Bruno does have that side, but gosh. His vaugely miserable stoism is so hot he would probably get great reactions from plowing him rotten. He'd resign to the freaking and be subtle at first so you'd have to push to get a dramatic reaction.
The sex won't make him happy, but it'll give him momentary relief :)
I'm showing my friend gw for the first time and we are at grateful dead pt. 2 and on GOD I am trying to control myself over this cartoon character.
I think Bruno likes being made love to, it makes him feel desired and it’s a nice feeling of pure adoration. Though he’s more partial to getting freaked nasty (in his element)
You don’t have to completely agree with me, of course (•⩊•) my interpretation is not law. As this was far from Araki's focus when writing GW, a lot of this is speculation, attempting to read between the lines, and of course, personal bias, the conclusion (subject to change) that I have come to from my reading/watching of GW.
This is through a very brugio-centric lens, of course, as it is me. I am viewing their characterization with the assumption that they are in love, or will be in love… But! You could eat around it, if you want to.
Even if I’m assigning them, I don’t think they’d have specific labels the way people have today. Considering 2001 Italy, they’d probably just live their life doing what feels right, without the need to categorize themselves. (Plus in the GW universe everyone has an insane fit and its never mentioned or given judgement).

Bucciarati:
Gender expression:
I don’t think he has dysphoria about his anatomy, though in gender presentation, it’s not traditionally masculine as it is, with the cutout, lingerie, and hairstyle. I hc he sleeps in a camisole set or slip, never dwelling on why, just finding it comfortable and elegant.
With joining the organization at 12, he’s essentially living independently by that point. He’d eventually grow out of his childhood clothes and have to shop for himself. With everything going on, the stress, pressure and horrors of survival, he wouldn’t have dwelled on any of it, what he happened to choose to wear. He would be thinking somewhat, he really leant into the zipper motif, but beyond that not fully registering or reading into all decisions.
I think he would be neutral, or fine with somebody referring to him as “signora” by mistake, or female grammar being used (again, not dwelling on it). He might be flattered, or flustered, being called “belleza” or “bella.”
My queen @gyodragon read this in draft form well before I edited and posted it just now and drew this completely taking me by surprise. Thank you Gyo, you are my inspiration, the original, and I am your number one glazer (she knows.)
I think with time, and without the pressures and pain of his previous life (post Giorno’s ascension) he might be more comfortable pushing his gender expression. Such as with more traditionally feminine clothes and presentation. Yet, Bruno is perfectly comfortable wearing a suit, or dressing traditionally masculine (though still softer.)
Sexuality:
I see him as heteroflexible. He has a preference for women, and as a catholic, would like to marry and have a family. Though he loves and reveres Giorno.
Prior to the series, he would sleep with women if it came easily (as in, they came onto him, not uncommon, and he only had to say yes). It would help relieve stress, and give him physical relief, which he is prone to ignoring. But it would only be one night stands, for two reasons. 1.) Fear of bringing a woman into his lifestyle, putting her in danger, or being used against him. 2.) unwilling to put a woman in danger.
The way he handles Trish leads me to believe he holds chivalry in high regard (yet doesn’t expect to receive it himself, but that’s another point). He doesn’t want women to be in danger, and sees it as his duty to keep them safe. (Same with the old women in the beginning).
Being civilians could be a factor, but I don’t think so. Gio was the only one who ever mentioned not involving them during their first fight… Bruno knew well that Giorno was unaffiliated, even before he realized he killed luca, he was ready to torture and beat him for information. Bruno hid in a random 13 year old. He asked if anyone else on the train wanted a beating when they were staring. (I do! I do!)
At the risk of repeating myself, Giorno brought Bruno back from the dead, both spiritually and physically. When they met, despite Bruno intending to kill him, Giorno saw something in him that not even Bruno believed he had anymore, and gave up the chance to kill him to save himself.
It must be a mind fuck on Bruno’s end, thinking so low of yourself, betrayed by a corrupt organization, doing dirty work that goes against your deepest beliefs, yet theres a person who believes there is good in you, and gives you hope for a better world. It would be hard not to feel a certain way.
In a romantic sense, Bruno would want to be his, and give him everything. I see his upbringing as traditional, having a rigid definition of what it means to love, and be in love. Being devoted, and feeling indebted for aforementioned saving him in both ways, he would find it natural to take the feminine role, and “give himself to him”.
Yet, Bruno would still have issues with true vulnerability. He is familiar with acts of service, having been used as a tool for so long. He would soften eventually.
Bruno was aware of his looks, and would give “favors” to get ahead. He wouldn’t full on have sex, but do other, more detached things. He would be proficient at it, and is glad to offer that pleasure out of love now, rather than survival. Yet it’s hard to separate, and still feels a bit transactional.
Beyond that, with the stress of being a leader, something he’d never really wanted, but knew he had to do, and accepted the duty, never being able to relax, feel safe, since he was much younger, he would enjoy letting go and being loved by someone he trusts entirely.

Giorno:
Gender expression:
This is only my take, as I’ve seen a lot of interpretations. I do see Giorno as a boy! He’s very boyish, just sparkly.
That is in no way to say he’d rigidly conform to masculine standards. I don’t think he’d care to. He likes to dress whichever way he thinks makes him look cool. He clearly likes to be flashy. I feel that his style would become more elegant as he gets older, a bit more subtle, but on the way there he’d try different things out.
But of course, he’d spend a stupid amount of money on jewelry and charms, among other things. He’d skew gaudy, but he thinks he looks awesome (maybe he does). Mafiacore, of course. He’d also like floral patterns, nature decals and prints. He’d wear earrings and other jewelry. (He likes to be sparkly.) He’d have long hair generally, mullet, though might cut it shorter sometimes.
I don’t think he’d think of himself as anything but a boy, though. He might be confused if he’s referred to as anything else, but once he’s older, and grows/matures a bit, that wouldn’t really happen.
Sexuality:
Demisexual, no gender preference.
I don’t think Gio has ever been romantically (or physically) attracted to anyone before Bucciarati, so it would be very new in this case. (Here’s how I interpret him developing feelings) Before, he didn’t understand others his age having those desires and feelings, writing them off as a foolish waste of time.
To that point, I think he’s weird about women. Not in a misogynist or prejudiced way, more just discomfort, or disconnection, he preferred to avoid them. With classmates, the fawning was annoying, plus disingenuous/suspicious, considering him getting attention after a drastic change in appearance. With older women too, even if they were friendly to him, he would be on edge rather than feel fondness or comfort. (I don’t think I have to explain why).
This all led to him being a solitary person, finding this own company sufficient. Even after his life improved, it made sense why he would be suspicious of others, despite enjoying any benefits the status of protection provided him with. Yet he was glad to have allies conducive to his goals, which led to him genuinely bonding with his teammates (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) Anyone who says he felt nothing for any of them is a bitch ass liar.
Anyway, Gio is much more focused on his dream, concrete things to make his city better, to care about frivolous things, or so he thought. When he felt it for himself, he realized his own will isn’t the end all be all. He wants Bucciarati beside him as a partner and equal.
He would recognize Bucciarati’s physical beauty upon meeting him, but wasn’t affected by it. Gio doesn’t think much of beauty, as it can contain a rotten soul. But when he realized the inner beauty and justice within Bucciarati’s heart, he then gets besotted. His resolve is unwavering, and with how fiercely Bucciarati believes in him. Gio probably hasn’t experienced that devotion before, and he’d become quickly emotionally reliant, and attached to an intense degree.
Also why I state no gender preference. It doesn’t matter whether Bucciarati is a man or a woman, the result would be the same. With Gio, romantic love is rare, but intense. Gender doesn’t have much to do with it.
That’s why I’m a “he never gets over it” believer. I keep plugging this quote, and I KNOWW its disproven by WHORE! Joseph, but I think it’s accurate for Gio.
With Bucciarati dead, he will not love again. Gio does not care to replace him, he was solitary before, and it is familiar to be again. He wouldn’t crave romance or intimacy for the sake of it.
But isn’t it sad he knew love, so briefly and intensely, just to have it taken so abruptly when he’s still so young? Gio would always yearn for him, but Bucciarati’s presence and influence would remain in the rest of his life.
