i donât think people understand how much of life is grief. not just people dying, but losing the version of yourself you thought youâd become. grieving the city you had to leave. the friends you lost not in argument, but in silence. the summer that will never come back. the feeling that maybe you peaked at 12 when you were reading books under the covers and believing in forever
really strange how you can be almost at peace with something that happened to you but it will continue to be a defining moment of your life for the rest of your life. you wont think about it much anymore but in a conversation about a film someone will mention the year it was released and youâll think to yourself, âthat was before it happenedâ and youâll see an old photo and think how strange it is to have existed before it happened and somehow itâs like living a life in two acts
i will never get over the way time and the environment behaved so differently when i was a kid. a saturday afternoon felt so vast and long. i could get absorbed into the colours and atmosphere of a tv show. even the food was better. even the air

Oh ok so it turns out ive been borrowing grief from the future ! it turns out ive been preparing to lose the things i love rather than basking in the light of them while they last. Maybe i should nt do that
