Perhaps one of the most significant events in history is the Holy Prophet's (s) mi'raj, in which the Prophet ascended to the high heavens, such that he was "only two bows' length away [from God]."

In this important meeting, the Prophet (s) asked God:

God replied:

Of all the answers God could have given, He focused on the qualities of tawakkul [reliance upon God] and ridha [contentment with His decree.] It is only when we allow our lives to unfold without resistance, anchored in the knowledge that God will always do what is wise and in our best interest, that we will begin to live the tranquil life God has always intended for us. Such a life of surrender does not protect us from pain. The nature of this world is that we will always encounter hardships. The difference is, while we experience pain, we will not fear it. We will feel secure that God is taking care of us, that this pain is necessary for our growth, and that all will be compensated beyond measure in our final abode.

وَنَيْلُكَ مُتَاحٌ لِلآمِلِينَ Access to You is granted to those who hope for it;

وَرِزْقُكَ مَبْسُوطٌ لِمَنْ عَصَاكَ Your Sustenance is extended to even those who disobey You;

وَحِلْمُكَ مُعْتَرِضٌ لِمَنْ نَاوَاكَ Your Forbearance extends to even those who antagonise You;

وَسَبِيلُكَ الإبْقَاءُ عَلَى الْمُعْتَدِينَ and Your Way is to be benevolent to even the transgressors. اللّهُمَّ فَاهْدِنِي هُدَى الْمُهْتَدِينَ O God, please guide me with the guidance enjoyed by the guided; وَارْزُقْنِي اجْتِهَادَ الْمُجْتَهِدِينَ Enable me to strive like the diligent; وَلا تَجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ الْمُبْعَدِينَ and place me not among the negligent, who are distanced from You.

I was honestly furious. and then I read an article about the beauty and biology of bird eggs. how does the color get there? what is it made of? how are the designs formed? I’m still rather angry but the world remains an unending miracle all the same despite my being directly furiously inside it and somewhere a prinia has laid her delicate tawny strewn egg which to me looks like an ancient cave drawing.
