This isn’t from your horror asks, but your recent post had me wondering: what are YOUR top five horror games?

sorry this is late! i had to think about it a lot. this is a hard question, but here's my non-exhaustive roundup. definitely definitely check out trigger warning lists for each game, especially the second entry.

1. VISAGE - my favorite horror game, it's a lot like silent hill where you explore a house that's haunted in many ways. you discover more about the inhabitants in a really organic way. and it's terrifying, clever, unique and one of the only games to really stick with me.

2. THE EVIL WITHIN 1 & 2 - hoowee this one, my friends, is insane. it's survival horror with tons of gore and fucked up shit. basically, a detective is called in to investigate some mass murders going on and is sucked into an unreal world by a patient. the second one is more action-oriented but still fun.

3. RESIDENT EVIL VII: BIOHAZARD - my favorite out of the resident series, such a huge departure but well constructed. all of the characters are fantastic, the graphics are gorgeous (and gross!) and the story is really good.

4. LAYERS OF FEAR - this one was NOT good for my schizophrenia playing it, but i watched it (via john wolfe on youtube) and it was phenomenal. basically, you're a painter and you're going crazy. a lot of unreality ensues as you delve into madness.

4.5 & 5. (two shorter games for one entry)

P.T. - the infamous playable teaser of the ill-fated silent hills (f in the chat) shot but scary, the less you know the better. perfect little horror short for anyone wanting to play or watch.

HOUSE (bark bark games) - a newer and sweet, scary little pixel game with an emphasis on speed and memory. you play as a girl caught in a time loop trying to break the cycle of a cursed home!
