WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?
The people in my world/s. For example:
today on the way into work I heard that my uncle had died over night. It wasn’t unexpected - but it was my uncle. My cousins’ dad. My aunty’s husband. My dad’s brother. My heart was sad. While waiting for a coffee before heading to the office, a friend messaged me, I responded. A little later, I looked up and there was my friend, in the cafe, to give me a hug and check I was ok.
Later, I was testing out Voxer (a walkie-talkie-esque app) at the invitation/request of a colleague - I couldn’t find my colleague on the list of contacts but I did see a friend from my virtual spaces who I haven’t chatted to for maybe a year or two… I sent him a very silly voice message - which referenced the common hello from chats of the past… I got a message back saying, “I thought and thought for like 30 minutes… who could this be… ” and then he went on to demonstrate he’d worked it out and left a message that made me smile.
Later still, a colleague was leaving - she’d resigned and it was her last day. She bought me a small gift and a a card with a beautiful message. I laughed and said… ‘but you are the one leaving!’ Even though we had had a mini-celebration for her the week before, it felt a little backwards. We decided on mutual admiration… and the words in her card did add brightness to my day.
I am very fortunate to be surrounded my friends, family and colleagues I love and adore - and also people I’ve never met in person but have come to know and adore over the years. I’m surrounded by amazing people and it’s rare a day goes by that I’m not reminded of this.
Music. Because sometimes you just need to listen and feel.
Animals/pets. Because even when they drive you crazy you love them.
