Can I ask what drew you to Mirabella? She doesn't seem to be anyone's favourite which is a shame.
Mirabella is the Most good. That’s why I love her. I love characters who are good and kind and loving, and stay that way despite everything they’re put through. It is through her eyes that we get to fully feel the weight of what queens are made to do in their ascension year; she’s the only one who remembers her sister’s after all.
she’s pulled in so many directions: honoring the temple might mean not doing what is good for the island, doing good for the island might go against her moral compass, and all of that toys with her emotional stability.
on top of that, she’s an anchor. she brings bree and elizabeth into her circle, she is kind to merchants in her city when she doesn’t have to be. arsione barely remembers her, but when they first meet after ten years, arsione is tempted to take her sister’s hand. mira inspires her sister to remember her and kat. she brings billy to her side despite his determination to hate her. even jules admits how good a queen she would’ve been. finally, she extends a sisterly hand to kat, who has been so alone for so long, after everything.
mirabella loves so fiercely and so freely, she’s kind and fair, she cares so much. i love her so much for that. she’s a true queen.
Katharine: What are you doing up there?
Mirabella: *sitting on a table* I pay rent and I can sit wherever I like in my own house, thanks.
Katharine: Where’s the spider?
Mirabella: It’s over by the door, can you please—
Arsinoe: Remember that time you dared me to lick the swing set?
Billy: No, I said “Arsinoe, don’t lick the swing set”, and you said “Don’t tell me what do, Junior”, and then you licked the swing set.
Pietyr: so kat, what do you want to eat?
The souls of the dead queens inside of kat: the SOULS of the INNOCENT!
Kat: A bagel
The souls: NO!
Kat: ... two bagels
Mirabella: We’re doomed!
Arsinoe: Well, we’ve lived good lives, right?
Mirabella: We’re only sixteen.
Arsinoe: I said good, not long.
Three Dark Crowns as vines!
(Slight warning, there IS cursing, in case that’s not something you’re comfortable with.)
Mirabella: “I wish I had the ability to make boys really nervous.”
Katharine: “Holding a really sharp knife to their neck usually does it for me”
I made some Three Dark Crowns wallpapers if any of you were interested. Please like/reblog if you’re gonna use them 🔥🐍🌹
My mentor in the Games, Haymitch Abernathy. When I first met him, I considered him a useless drunk. I didn’t like him even into the Games, but our relationship grew. As he sobered up, I realized that we share a lot of qualities that make us a good team. His help in getting Peeta and I sponsors was invaluable. To Haymitch, a mentor and a friend.
You might know Effie as your average Capitol woman--exaggerated, colorful, accented. But I know her to be kind, loving, and respectful. She cares, despite appearances, and we are good friends.
My father. I loved him more than anything. He taught me everything I needed to know about survival, and because of this I was able to support my family and later survive the Hunger Games. I owe him everything and miss him more everyday.
My best friend, Gale. Having known him since we were kids, he’s like a brother to me. He took care of my family while I was in the Games, I owe him for that. Thanks for everything!
The First Rule Change
When the first rule change was announced in the Games, I was in shock. Rue had just died, and for a time I didn’t care if I lived or died. Then came the rule change. The change in itself was mind bending, since there are few official rules, some of them unspoken and understood. Under the new rule, both tributes from the same district could be declared winners if they were the last two alive.
I was glad Claudius repeated the news because I wasn’t sure if I heard him right.
Both of us could live. I had a reason to live. Get to Peeta, save each other, get home. I was so elated that I called out Peeta’s name right there. I was lucky no one was around to hear it.
Up until this point, I had been avoiding Peeta so that we wouldn’t have to face each other. I figured it would be better if someone else killed us. But now there was hope. We could find each other and we could win.
I still can’t believe we did.
The Cornucopia ready for the feast. The thing each Tribute most desperately needed was there. I almost died retrieving medicine for Peeta's leg, but I knew he would die without it. I couldn't bear the thought of winning without him and I knew I would never forgive myself if I didn't even try to save him. I think we're both happy I did!
The three-fingered salute. Occasionally it as seen at funerals, but is old and rarely used. It means thanks, it means admiration, it means goodbye to someone you love. For all the Tributes who died in the Hunger Games. May you rest in peace.
Peeta, and the cave where I fell in love with him. If not for the Games, we wouldn't have found each other. Then, we were thrown together in love that could never work. He's the reason I'm still alive, the reason we are both home. I can't imagine life without him now.
