AU where vampires actually are weakened/repelled/even directly harmed by running water and Apo, Queen of the Positive Water Motif, is just fucking Built Different and nobody can figure out why

(this is arguably canon as in pretty sure Owen at the very least has an aversion to water because of vampirism. Pyro also kinda does but it’s unclear if that’s specifically vampirism or trauma)

I think vampires can have certain additional powers or specialties, and that very very occasionally some vampires can develop ones different than that of their sire but to see a vampire so young, lost and starved develop an affinity for something that is actively negative for most vampires is frankly unprecedented

I like to headcanon that Apo broke her own side bond with Scott out of sheer will (very very rare, and doubly so for again a vampire so young and starved) and her fledgling bond with Sausage (slightly less rare but again in these specific circumstances massively unexpected) and so these factors likely contribute to why Apo has an ability her sire never got, And why Sausage has not and will not develop it

(If Martyn had been turned, however…he wouldn’t gotten it.)

but anyway. I think Apo should be a massive anomaly among vampires, someone that frightens or annoys people who know a lot about vampires like Scott, Cleo or Abolish.

Scott dislikes Apo possessing any power aside from the conditional, exploitable kind she could get from him, Cleo hates it when people break The Rules that have governed her existence, and Abolish is kind of an unholy mix of the two. (Except replace Scott with the Organization)

Apo, for her part, probably doesn’t even know most vampires have an aversion to water and DEFINITELY doesn’t know why her storm call powers are so easy. (Among other things)
