Day 9-Paper Bag Test
Trapped...
That time... When our heat pulled us closer Like two candles next to each other And we started burning together Remember that song... We sang as we melted in unison From the flames on top of our heads Making our own little sun Lighting up a whole new universe In a world filled with darkness.... Remember the fresh new scents As our bodies slowly liquefied Under the bright colors of our souls on fire... Hot big drops spilling over Forming one thick flowing river Always moving towards the center For the sun kept on sinking deeper Curving our flesh even further Until we completely lost our initial shapes Do you remember how it felt... When we merged into one and the same Right before the magic started to fade We stayed still like a sculpture As if we waiting for an epic rupture But whatever we were trying to capture It never came... We regained a little strength and structure And emerged a brand new creature But still we were trapped... With our essences forever combined In struggling to keep the flame alive Remember all that? Do you recall anything after that fact? Tell me have we won the fight? Or are we just frozen in time? We don't make the fire The flame keeps us alive So trapped we shall remain Until we melt again
Be Proud
It is time for me to wake up from my long sleep as a blogger. First because I miss blogging, and also because something unusual happened to me recently;then something magical happened, followed by something shocking, that was followed by something… Alright, enough with the something’s, I’ll just cut to the chase.
I was at this dinner event when this beautiful young lady I had never met came and started chatting with another lady at my table. They seemed to know each other very well, but I didn’t know any of them before that afternoon. They had been talking and laughing for a while when the first lady (the one that was not initially at my table) confessed to me that she had been observing me…because she found me very beautiful! That’s unusual, right? I mean, I have had such compliments from other girls before, but never from a girl that I had just met. Usually these things are said by men trying to get into my pants. The rare times I get it from another woman is after we have known each other for a while, but that’s just me. I found her very beautiful herself and, her friend was even more beautiful than the both of us combined. I pointed that out to her, to which she responded that they were in- laws so it didn’t count. (! Red flag! Is she hitting on me or something?) She insisted that I was really beautiful with beautiful natural hair ;and that, had some mystical effect on me…I blushed, I felt good, like flying to the moon, it was magical! But then she went on explaining how it’s so rare to see such beauty from a dark skin girl, “we are used to see beautiful light skin but not much from the dark skin” she said…I was not sure if I heard her correctly from up there where I was, but she repeated it… this moment felt like a free fall from the moon back to the hard, cold, harsh reality of this Earth, where sometimes people fight battles that are not theirs… I did not have any parachute, I was not ready for this, I was shocked! (Is she for real? Is she really going to bring up that everlasting colorism debate to this table right now?) But I smiled and I said “thank you” because that’s what I always do, I wasn’t going to let her ruin the evening for me.
Okay, let me back up a little bit here: this girl is African, just like me; grew up back home in Rwanda, like me. She probably was taught the same traditions and values as my own parents taught me. She could be my unknown cousin, my sister from another mother; we were as close to each other as two people who had just met in a country that is not their own could ever be. And yet she was here talking about the colorism issue in a way I can never relate to. I mean I always see these #darkskin versus #lightskin debates online and I always ignore them because I just think they are simply stupid and a complete waste of my energy; but I have been seeing more and more African sisters posting selfies with captions like #teamlightskin and that makes me want to say something about it. Where I come from, In Africa there is lots of different forms of discrimination, but skin color is just not one of them. In Africa there is no such thing as light skin privilege, we are all simply African. Now, in America and in Asia, it’s a whole different story. Light skins in America are supposedly “superior” because they might have some white blood in them, this comes from way back in slavery times where the masters will favor the children they had with their female slaves; I can understand that. I can understand it, but I still say that it is stupid to think that every light skin person has white race blood in their veins, because well…that’s just not true; and besides, we are not in slavery times anymore. In Asia, a lighter skin was synonymous to a higher class in society but again, that’s ancient history. I personally do not participate in colorism debates online because I do not feel like it's relevant. It is their history, not mine. So I guess I am trying to understand why my African people would even begin to think that this is something they should concern themselves with. I can’t help but wonder if they know what they are really insinuating. I mean don’t you have more serious issues to deal with, Issues that directly resulted from your own African heritage? I get that we are all here in this big new western world trying to fit in; acting like their dreams are our dreams, making their problems our own, but some things are just not for us. It might be true that life is easier on lighter skin tones in America, maybe Americans truly believe that light skin people are more beautiful and smarter than people with darker skin tones …But these same Americans also think that descendants of former slaves are the only ‘Black People’. I do not fit in their definition of blackness, my new friend from the dinner party does not fit in their definition of blackness, and neither does Akon , K’naan or Barack Obama’s father; some of them get really surprised when I tell them that there are actually people in Africa that have skin tones as light as the banana peel, and that they are absolutely not biracial. To them, we are just Africans;I think this should persuade anyone that we, Africans from Africa, are not included in their colorism debate. So why do we do that? Why are Africans still bleaching? Nobody in Africa has ever been refused a job, just because they had a dark skin, as far as I know. What makes some people insist so much on their “chocolate” skin as if it’s some kind of superpower? I don’t know, I don’t get it, It makes me roll my eyes every time I see it online, I am rolling my eyes right now as I write this hahaha.
By the way, the young lady was also a dark skin tone, I thought she was beautiful and really lovely but I feel bad when I think of what she might think of herself…I think I am black, dark and beautiful, I have never been in a situation where my darkness was an obstacle to my well being, and as far as I’m concerned, nobody has ever resisted my smile. ☺ LOL this is where I am supposed to stop. I am just saying, I am not going to pretend that I’m miserable just to prove a point. I am glad I am back at blogging, Just like the prince’s kiss, this little episode brought me back to the blogging life; so thank you beautiful stranger, and please be proud of who you are. ✌

10 Things Motherhood Taught Me
There is a lot to be said about motherhood. It is a very challenging, but fulfilling job. You spend all your awake time literally working for your children, whether you are with them or away from them, everything you do, once you are a mother, your child’s life always comes before your own. That’s a fact.
The most important responsibility for any parent, wherever in the world they might be, is to educate their child. We all teach our children about our most treasured values, we tell them what we believe is the right and wrong way of doing things and how they should or should not behave. We all want our children to have the highest level of knowledge possible. We sometimes take this responsibility too seriously that we forget the most important thing: that all the wonders and marvels of the world can be observed in a simple grain of sand.
I believe we can all agree that children are happier than us, adults. One could argue that it is because they know nothing about life or the world we live in. Well, I think that’s debatable; we are too busy teaching them what we know as adults who have seen and experienced so much in life, that we forget what we can learn from them as people who are seeing the world with new, fresh and excited eyes.
There are so many things that children do or say that we don’t pay much attention to, just because we think that they are too innocent to make any sort of sense. But if only we took a few minutes to observe the behaviour of a child in different settings and circumstances, we can see that they know a whole awful lot about themselves, the world around them and so much about life in general. The most amazing thing is that they are unaware of the amount of knowledge they have within them.
Through children you can learn what true love is all about. My children taught me that patience is the mother of all treasures, they taught me how to give without awaiting anything in return; they taught me that I need to fight with all my heart for what I desire, but above all, children taught me how to communicate my deepest feelings in a better way. I learned a lot of things just by sitting there and watching my children do what they do best, living their little life. I cannot write about all of the things I learned from my children at once; for now, I will just provide a list of 10 most important life lessons adults can learn from children.
1. Be Present : I don’t know if you have noticed but children are not big fans of multi tasking. You can’t be starring at your Smartphone screen for long when they are playing in the park. They want you to roll on the floor with them when they are playing. A child is always fully present in whatever they do, they pay attention to the tinniest bugs on their path, they can’t help it to scream “The moon! “when they see one. Children are always excited about everything and everyone around them and they require that you listen to their silly stories with your undivided attention. So, be with them, be like them, just be present.
2. Do not make promises that you can’t keep:” Mommy needs to work in silence for about an hour; can you please not disturb her? I’ll give you a candy if you do that!” In a child’s mind, this means you have to do it. Even if you have to drive to the grocery store, promises are sacred things for children. You can’t turn around and say you will give the candy after their lunch or nap. The candy was for being silent for an hour and that’s all they care about. This brings me to the third point:
3. There is no better time than NOW: If you tell a child that you will buy them their favourite toy tomorrow, and if that child is anything like my sons they will reply “Why not today?” And they will keep asking until you give them a satisfying answer, usually as soon as you agree to one of their requests they just want to “put on our shoes and go right now”!
4. Be Persistent: Let’s just say you don’t agree to go to the toy store right away or you can’t give the promised candy right after you are done with your work, or that you seem too distracted when they are telling you about their favourite scene in their favourite cartoon…every parent knows that the child will not stop talking, asking, crying and begging until they get what they want. This process can even take days sometimes but they always win in the end. They are particularly persistent in complaining about the things that they don’t appreciate. They will tell you how sad they are until you turn their frown into a smile.
5. Dance, laugh with all your heart whenever can and wherever you are: 5 months old babies dance as soon as they hear a beat of any kind; they just seem to have all the world’s rhythms in their blood and fragile little bones. And have you heard the sound of a child’s laugh? Priceless!
6. Always give crystal clear instructions: It is true that children are slow learners in certain things compared to your average adult. And they love to ask many questions, and for some reason, they keep coming back, the same questions over and over again. I think it’s because we often tend to give them adult answers. Children need clear and easy to process information, and this teaches us to be patient, you literally have to take a pause and lower yourself to their level of thinking to get some of the right answers to their questions. We all know at least one adult in our life that needs that kind of special attention, don’t we?
7. If you like something, keep doing it until you don’t like it anymore: If you have ever read a book to a child, then you know that it is business as you usual to read the same book over and over again, back to back until you just can’t read anymore; because if they like that book, they don’t want any other book, and they want you to read it until the end of time. My children can watch the same 1 minute YouTube video for an entire hour, and laugh at it each time! Sometimes I think they have some sort super laughing powers! They can do it again for the next 3 days and then forget all about it like it never happened!
8. You don’t have to eat the food you don’t like: “I don’t like spinach, so I will not eat it. “ Any parent in this situation will want to tell the child how good for their health spinach is, and they may listen today and eat it, but they sure as hell won’t eat it again tomorrow. It’s up to you the parent, to hide the spinach in the food they like. So maybe you can learn about you can learn from your children and just forget about the stupid diets you incessantly hear about on TV , unless of course you like the food in the diet!
9. Sharing is the best way to establish a rapport: Every child in the world knows that the quickest way to make a new friend is to share one of your toys with them.
10. Friendship is strengthened through play: Whatever this translates to in your messed up adult brain, Go figure!
As you can see, this list is far from being complete, and I know what you are thinking; that you don’t need to be a parent or observe children for hours to know these things. Of course I am aware that I did not teach you anything new. After all, we have all been children and we went through all of that I mentioned above, but there is a difference between knowing something and truly grasping the deeper meaning of the things we know. If you understand these things then you realize that it does not suffice to just know them, they need to be lived. Just as children live them. Parents don’t teach children these things. They just come to them naturally and we slowly forget most of them as we grow up. If we can reincorporate half of this stuff in our everyday adult life, I am sure that we and the people closest to us would be a little happier. We would learn to be patient and caring with other people and yet stay a little selfish in a way, just like children. We would communicate better but above all, we would learn to unlearn some of the bullshit we have taken in when we were growing up! and start appreciate the little pleasures of everyday life.In the end we will have much room left to Love simply and beautifully.
Her Words, My World (Girl Romance)
I see words on my screen that bring goose bumps on my skin
It’s HER words… They hit my eyes and change my world and for an instant, they shift my attention from the crowd I focus only on them, as I try to unfold All the mysterious magic around HER world
It reads:
"I want to travel from my words to your world then take you to a journey inside of my mind and make you rewind all your life until the beginning of times,”
Who is SHE? She says:
"I’m your senses whisperer Let all the men guess what will make you shiver I’ll make all your essence flow like a river Don’t ask for climax when trance Is what I can offer”
HER words on my screen fill up my soul. For an instant they become my world I begin to wonder… What if, straight into my ears these words were told? What shape would they take on my earlobe? What sound would they make when they hit my eardrums?
SHE said:
"Let me whisper closer to your ear, until your soul shakes, as the angels sing to you The melody of the melodies Of all the love you will ever feel”
If I close my eyes, I can see her beautiful lips as they speak this magic they look full and I imagine how they must be tender I can hear their soft music and my mind surrenders… I can feel my whole body dancing to their rhythm My booty moving to the groove My feet stepping to get closer to… The WORD GODESS My arms shaking as they try to reach … Coz I can’t help it, I’m so tempted to touch! I want to place my hand on her chest to check if it beats as fast as mine Then kiss HER neck and follow HER curves Breathe the passion out of HER pores I want to be touched with the same fingers that typed these words And transfer those vibrations right into my brain Let our desires flow in sync till we almost faint
But I’d be glad if she only let me drink HER words fresh from HER beautiful mouth
She must be reading my mind from afar coz she wrote:
"I want to travel from my words to yours words of delusion as you marvel at my intuition Of which part of your skin to caress with my eyes And which part to bless with a kiss Let me hold you tight to set you free Turn all your buttons on And sync your spirit to the universe Until you die and resurrect in one verse Baby, As I spell the word ecstasy with my fingers on your body, I want to touch the source of your fantasies And watch you drip in confusion From the passion Caused by my sweet intrusion Let’s dance It will be graceful you will be more than Glad I will take you to new heights No one will ever be this precise… Put my words to the test Let me give you a taste”
Yes baby, let’s take that trip Only tools we need is your body and mine And we can create our little paradise

My Serenity Prayer
Oh great Lord, If you are up there watching over this world , I want to ask for a favor, can we please have a word ? Now, I hear you are a father to the orphans, and a husband to the widows, And I'm none of that, but I was hoping you could just be like a window , By which I may sit, to watch the sunlight from the darkest corners of my house Clarity, my lord... that's all I'm asking To see the fine line between right doing and wrong doing Clarity to see the bright side of every wrong thing. And learn to accept both as essential parts of one bigger thing. Consider this my own serenity prayer Oh lord, I ask for the greatest knowledge , Not the kind for which the sole purpose is to collect riches, But the knowledge to tell the difference in times The difference between when to say yes and when to say no , To tell when it's time to act fast and when to take it slow The time to get excited from the time to lay low Tell the time to hold on from the time to let go Please excuse me lord , I know my prayers have been rather seldom , But all I want from you today, is just a piece of wisdom... The wisdom to know when to carry on traditions and when to create change Oh greatest lord, I also come to you to acquire the greatest strength That will allow me to roll and crumble on the floor when I laugh And yet keep my chin up and my feet on the ground in hardship I'm not after great fortunes nor am I after fame I'm just after what it takes to keep a smile on my face And then pass it along to everyone that I face.
Poetic Climax
Sometimes I think of you At very inappropriate times In the middle of a sentence I’d just go mute I get that twinkle in the eyes A sign that I’m really in a great mood And I start having random smiles My poker face fails and,I lose my cool As the world around me stops in my mind People think I’m being rude Coz I’m totally out of line But I’m just consumed by flashbacks
Babe, I think of you and I lose all focus That minute I step back in the past In middle of a day I may see stars Some nights I even felt the sun :) It was hot and burned like that lust We felt that time just before we burst Like that torture of waiting, it feels good but it hurts.
I think of that moment when you took control and dominated I think of our bodies in transes while we were being transported In a magical place where everything but our pleasure is all faded
Other times I think of you and I feel sad I can’t help thinking that all ended too fast I keep wondering why good things never last If it’s true that we can all rule our minds Why can’t I choose to think at the best times The ones that give me twinkles and just have a blast? And if we are really masters of our own destiny How come we don’t make it so that we are forever happy? Instead I think of things I could have said or done differently… When I think of you, I have doubts I get too deep, it’s not even funny
But if I had to tell you one thing only, It would be a thank you, simply For being my greatest inspiration For being my best memory And also my worst confusion But above all, thanks for being my muse When I think of you I am nolonger in the world of facts I step right into the wonderful world of fantasy Babe when I write about you, I reach poetic climax!
I am a Feminist ...and You are Too
“I believe men and women are equal, but I am not about to declare myself a feminist.” Said Taylor Swift when asked by the Times whether she considers herself a feminist or not. What kind of NANSENSE is that? Many other celebrities have made similar statements; that’s just the one that pops into my mind right now. I personally know at least a dozen of people who will strongly claim that they are NOT feminists but when I start chatting about the basics of feminism they all agree with all of them. So I’m here to say: Get your shit straight y’all!
The problem here is not feminism itself but all the package of myths that come with the word “feminist”. I think the reason why people are trying so hard not to be associated with the feminist movement is because they are afraid to be labeled as “lesbians” or “man hater” and all sorts of BS that people imagine the minute you confirm your feminism. Some of you reading this have probably started labeling me all that and I haven’t even made it past the introduction. I honestly had the idea of writing about feminism for a while now but I had some reservations. I simply didn’t want to come out as “another one of those same old boring feminist bloggers”. The more I hesitated, the more I felt the need to address this. Although, I doubt that I can tell you anything new, (nothing that you won’t find online at the least) I just thought that I’d remind you that if you think that feminists are anti-marriage, anti-men and are not feminine, you are MISGUIDED. The way I see it, everyone was born a feminist. I mean everyone. Men and women, (Do I really need to precise that feminism is not only for women? You already knew that, didn’t you?)
So, as I was saying we are all feminists by nature. When we are born, we are all good people, we are innocent, and there is no such thing as gender inequality in the mind of a child. It is only when we grow up a little, that we start noticing that in society; boys are not treated the same way as girls are. In some parts of the world, children have the misfortune of discovering theses differences at a very tender age and via their own parents, (This is sad, very sad!) but for most us, we had to learn it on our own, at school, at work, on the streets, in the movies that we watch, the music we listen to and so on… We learn then that men are not supposed to show their true emotions, that one of their most important roles in society, is to protect women and children. They are supposed to provide and never show signs of weakness. We also learn that women are to be totally dependant on men and do all that is their power to satisfy the wishes of men. Feminists are idealistic people who believe in a world where men and women can still be equal, even after they have been well acquainted with those harsh realities of society. Some say that equality will be reached when we would not be able to distinguish between man and woman in the political and economic areas of society. Feminism is all about EQUALITY of genders, so if you believe in that, don’t kid yourself; you are a feminist.
Of course like any revolutionary movement, there are pros and cons. The Feminist movement has its own extremists. Extremists are everywhere, in political parties, in religion, everywhere! You will occasionally meet one of those few bitter women who despise men .women with statements such as “Anything that men can do, women can do better” or “marriage is legalized rape and slavery” or “Men are the source of all sufferings” and all that yadi yadi yada that radical feminists use to try and prove their point. But that is not the right representation of feminism and it should not be the reason to lose faith in the equality of sexes. Don’t let these MISCONCEPTIONS shape your opinion of feminism. Feminists may sound pessimistic at times but they are fundamentally optimistic and naturally humanists. True feminists will not only fight for women empowerment, but they are also against any kind of discrimination: racism, sexism, homophobia and any form of condescending behavior such as stereotyping and body objectification.
So don’t go out there saying that you can’t be a feminist and still be feminine and expect me not to react to that. I mean come on, how can feminism be against feminity? Alright, I admit it that I think high heels are a little uncomfortable and that it took me a few months in the harsh long winter of Canada to appreciate the real beauty of sleeveless dresses and miniskirts; I can give you 99 reasons why I do not wear makeup on a daily basis, but that has nothing to do with me being a feminist (or does it? Hum…) and it certainly doesn’t make me more of a feminist than the girl who’s always wearing a ton of mascara and high heels, even when at the beach, it doesn’t make me less of a woman. They choose to look pretty and I choose to feel comfortable first. That is all, nothing more to it (or is there?). All I’m trying to say is that feminism is all about giving women a CHOICE. A Right to make the wrong choices and not be judged any more than a man would, the right not to be raped because of their choice of clothes . A right to marry or to remain single, a right to have children or not, a right to voluntary abortions, a right to divorce, a right to put their careers first, a right to be mothers and still pursue the career they have chosen, a right to be paid as well as men are, a very simple RIGHT to RECOGNITION.
Now, I know some may say that women nowadays can do all of the above things. Yes, it is true for some countries but even in those countries women salaries are still lower than that of men in the same positions. When are women going to be appreciated for what they are truly worth? And since I’m at it, lemme talk about those other parts of the world where they reject the idea of feminism on the grounds that it is a western concept, they say it is not an African thing, that it is against the African culture and bla bla bla. May I remind you that even in Europe and America women had to fight for the rights they have now? It wasn’t “their thing “before too.Cultures evolve, African women do not worth less than European or American women. African men do not own their wives. Freedom of making choices is and should remain a birth right for everyone.
I understand that rights come with RESPONSABILITIES but who said we are afraid of responsibility? Just because we have the option to pursue our careers doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be those who choose to stay home and take care of their families. Some women will still prefer to be under the authority of their men and others may chose a life without men. It’s all Okay as long as it is the person’s choice. Sexual liberation doesn’t mean that we are all going to start having casual sex 7 days a week or that we are turning bisexual. It just means we have the right to control our own sex life and not be called sluts! If it takes a year of casual sex with strangers to realise it is actually not what you are into (most women don’t really like casual sex anyway )then so be it! Knowing exactly how you like it is priceless treasure. And we are certainly not going to be running for president of the country just because we can! Different people make different choices and true lovers support their women’s choices.
Alright, am I boring you yet? I hope not! Let me stop here before it gets messy. There’s a gazillion of things I can say about feminism but hey, I am not trying to write a book here! Just…a blog post. Try not to forget that feminism is not about sexual orientation, (so stop the lesibian BS) it is about equality of genders, and not superiority of women over men. And before you start throwing some stereotypes and trying to prove it with some silly straw-man arguments, just take time to find out why that woman hate men so much. I personally have had some amazing men in my life and I love men, why wouldn’t I? But different people have different backgrounds and everyone is fighting their own battle,so get at the bottom of the real issue instead of labeling every little insult towards men with “feminism”. Be proud of your INNER FEMINIST .
Show Me
Show me , That you see me. Don't just say it, Let me see it. The drunkening flame of desire, as you look at my face, then deep into my eyes. Let me feel all the weight Of your stare in my back As I walk Let me feel it, Don't just tell me, Show me how it burns Look at me ... With that eagerness to learn, every inch of my skin, as if it were a secret path To a hidden treasure. Tell me ... That you can still see, My smile and all my curves With your eyes closed. And that it hurts in your throat Just as if you were thirsty I'm sick and tired Of being admired Without really being understood, Of being looked at, but not seen Of words without meaning, Of being touched and not feeling, Anything... Show me, That you see me, That you like what you see. Let me know That you get my hair and that you don't care That I don't wear makeup. Show me... That you are different, that I'm not the same, as anything you have ever known that what you feel for me, is rather tortureous, That your one and only wish Is for me to touch , and kiss you... And don't you dare touch me, until I know, beyond any doubt, That through my eyes, you can see my heart. That you get me. That you feel me. Don't touch until you learn, To listen to my body language, and understand it, as much as I do. Let me dream, So that I can sing, When you finally touch me. Make me believe, that in your arms, is where time stops. Make me want you, So that I let you have me Make me beg you To take me And drink me, Till all thirst is gone. Bring back The little girl in me. And maybe then, I'll let you meet, The grown woman That I have become. Well, Maybe...
#Kwibuka20
Sympathy is not empathy 100days of darkness, one has to see it to feel it I cannot come up with one good paragraph to describe, the pain as I imagine it And yet in my mind there's a clear photograph Of what it might have looked like during the Tutsi genocide. Big drops of rain falling from dark, heavy skies Turning red the minute they touch the ground Rivers of blood flowing from bodies that I can't even count... The fear... how could I ever describe people crying without making a sound? When you don't know whether you will still be alive the next second or the next hour This land of a 1000 hills is nolonger beautiful Our beloved Rwanda was taken over by a blood thirsty devil That made its own people murder their family members Then went on and killed their next door neighbours And today, like a big wounded family we all remember... These same streets of Kigali That now make us proud and happy Were once a nightmare for our own ancestors They have hated it, but we don't. We are survivors... Sons and daughters of survivors are also survivors We may not have been there but we know you went through horror We salute your resilience and, your legacy we shall carry on We pay tribute to your courage and to our children,we shall pass it on Twenty years have passed and today we still pay our honors To the loved ones lost in the worst of all wars Those that we have known And those who were killed right after they were born Those who watched while their mothers and sisters were being raped desperately Those women who were raped and today are still standing You were all innocent victims and your souls will not be forgotten Today there's no more blood splashes on our walls We have cleaned our houses and repainted Some of the killers have already repented And we have hopes that our wounded hearts one day will be repaired In the meantime, every April we cry All the tears you couldn't shed...up until July We pour it all out as we rewind All the way back to the sorrowful times 100days of kwibuka, we remember... The decades of cruelty that led to April 1994 When our country fell to the lowest level possible Today we are standing in the middle of shiny brand new towers And we can see tiny bright lights from a far As we sink our minds back to darkness We light a million candles in silence And slowly move towards the sun Nothing can ever stop us, not the deniers and certainly not the foreigners We have heard their "sorries" but they never felt our sorrows Only us can plan for our own tomorrows Those who don't know pain, know nothing Happiness is our best fuel now, sadness is nothing but memories Success is our only focus and we won't look away Whatever happens we won't fall again You have fallen so we could rise The only direction left for Rwanda is Up, up and higher up So we are forever standing up
Survive
I got cought up in the passion flame And forgot it was all just a game And now I'm full of shame And tons of emotions I can't escape And to say that I passed On all I ever wanted Wich is just to be on his side For a moment of a lifetime For it is the only reason that I lied And it all disapeared in a blink But how did I ever think That he could ever love me When I didn't even show him The person that I am for real? Only option left is to jump in the void Put an end to the pain I can't avoid Oh Lord what have I done? I feel like two people in one My brain says" let's go" But my body just won't I guess it was trained to survive I was born;I'm here to survive
Black Rose
I am a beautiful, delicate black Rose I am not flashy from a distance, you gotta get close To inhale the difference up your nose My unique perfume will take you places no one knows
My favorite cloth is innocence, You must look beyond , to see my flaws And my natural elegance that only shows When you take a chance and just pause Long enough to admire my dress, then look deep into the heart of the Black Rose
And you will see that I may be rare but I stand out You will love me, you may want to pick me up Take me home and caress me, but watch out I am not good with cuddles, and you may get hurt
Don’t try it. You will fail, just like those Who tried to tame me before They displaced me, and I felt lost Those, who tried to cut my roots and trim off my thorns
They all failed because , I am enchanted Black magic is my name, I am bewitched Few times I got crashed and I burned But like a phoenix from the ashes, each time I rose I am a complex being, don’t try too hard to understand me because You gotta be in the matrix, to see the real me so…
Only then can you see , the mysterious persona underneath my robe A long practiced smile, my ultimate force Quiet as a shadow but sharp like a Knight’s sword My full lips , and my tongue spitting prose
Look through my soft skin and you may discover My wild beauty and all that I have to offer A passionate fighter and devoted lover Pay a little more attention and you may see That I’m a perfect piece of art With an attractive strong personality Created by the imperfect mighty hands of humanity Very complicated yet easy to fall for If you think I’m mellow, it is only a disguise In my own little garden, I am queen. Don’t try to un-crown me or I will bite I may be as dark as the night But the right place for me is within the light
The Vibe
Sometimes ,someone met online Brings back memories of real life Creating feelings hard to describe A mental connection one can't deny Triggering our imagination to find Ways to get closer...The vibe From the brain down to the spine Straight up to your thumbs as you type Electric in nature, tells you it's fine To just let go and discover the joys of virtual life. The vibe, like the kind you get through a good eye contact. Though there's is no eyes, so it's more of a thought contact. The more you chat with the person, the more it feels like you are signing a secret contract. A contract of honesty and emotional support. It becomes like a pact. But you better watch how you react Because you know this might just be an act. And one can easily become an addict to the play. And just like the kind of vibe you get after a good handshake, That person you just met is nolonger a stranger. Something in that very situation, has a taste of Deja Vu As if that stranger is a reicarnation of someone you once knew Everyone of their statements simply rings true And the experience may have nothing new to you, But you may feel like you just found another you. That person is obviously not you Coz you know very well that you Are unique But the way their thoughs Seem to complete your own Is too special to be ignored. They seem to express the deepest beliefs you always had but never expressed. Maybe out of fear or because you didn't think they would be heard And now you know you are not alone Someone is just as much of a fool as you are, as messed up as you ... Or maybe more but it's not a competition. The main thing is you are not alone. If that makes you feel better, The rest does not matter. It doesn't matter that the person might be making up the whole story Because their have been stalking you for months. Because you are feeling truly happy for once It doesn't matter if they will go behind your back and repeat your story to others. It doesn't matter that they lied about their age or their entire life It doesn't even matter whether my poem rhymes or not. All that matters is the vibe. No one can fake that. It's either there or it is not When you feel it Grab it ,hold on it tight Just don't forget it's only virtual And you can keep it beautiful
