COVID

Within the previous 5-6 weeks I’ve known individuals who have severely suffered with COVID.  Watching one family’s transparent social media posts shed light on several things: 1.) The faithfulness of God - even in the midst of this circumstance.  2.) It allows fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to pray specifically for their needs 3.) Lastly, it illustrates the rawness of this battle for not only the sick, but the families and healthcare workers too.  Thousands of us (the friends of this amazing family) are made aware - if they weren’t already - of what it’s like to wait outside in a hospital parking lot for days, then weeks and going on a month now.  What it’s like to not get to see or talk to their loved one.  We are educated on vent details and stats and medical info that shows us what a true battle this can be.  We are painted a vivid picture and for me personally, my heart is softened and my senses heightened to be more mindful of the contributions I make to my community and to my circle of influence. 

Does this mean that I don’t fully trust God with his sovereignty over germs?  Absolutely not!  It only means that I have a new view of my role in all of this.  I believe God has used the words of this family to inform at least me... to reach me.  

I also read a post from a local group (at some point during all of this) from health care workers at a local hospital in which they candidly explain that many in their industry feel like all they get is lip service and pizza (from out community).  Those words really hit home for me.  

Yesterday we had to take AM to the ER because what has ended up only being a vicious stomach bug gave me a scare around 1pm when she was doubled over in pain in our bathroom.  Then as we were getting on the causeway to head to our pediatricians office she worsened so I opted to go straight to USA.  

While our aliment was only a stomach bug, we fall into the same protocol as others who are sick with anything other than COVID.  One parent in.  One waits.  It’s no fun to be the parent in the waiting room.  Tagging out and letting George go back and have a turn while still waiting on results is not ideal.  But in doing all this I realized something.  How hard the nurses and doctors were having to work.  Even on the no-COVID wing/floor.  This doctor told us twice exactly what was going on.  Once for me and once for George.  And she never seemed put off or like we were a bother.  

So for all those who are emotionally, physically & mentally drained due to increasing responsibilities caused by COVID.  THANK YOU.  I respect you and I will pray fervently for you.  

To those who feel like their liberties are being taken away.  Like their constitutional rights are being infringed upon: I can understand where you are coming from as well.  Some people are really having to lean into their faith by trusting that God will protect their liberties.  They are wondering “When will this stop”.  No matter your stance on all of our current affairs, here are some verses that I think are helpful:

So Many Social Media Outlets

Facebook,  IG.  Twitter.  TikTok... They have all kept me busy.  Facebook is for family and business things.  IG is my go-to where my favorite influencers seem to be.  Twitter is my news outlet (especially for sports are politics).  And then there is TikTok.  It’s the platform that all of the young girls who I am trying to lead to Christ - or if they’re already there help facilitate a deeper relationship with him - are using!  So I need to at least be familiar with it.

In these past almost two years I’ve neglected posting anything here (not that anyone reads this - and that’s also perfectly fine) but writing and journaling have always been an outlet for me, and I’ve really missed it.  

We (the three) continue to thank God for His faithfulness and for his mercy and grace.  We’ve so much to be grateful for.
