I want to try a new concept.

Below are numbered questions, some of which are so personal I don’t want to answer them. There also is a place for your own question. There is also a numbered list of dares, some of which I wouldn’t want to do.

How does it work?

Hello there Castro, I was wondering if you had any advice or good resources for using Hemp rope. I've just bought some, and I'm keen to play with it. However an internet search shows several different methods for treating it prior to the first use. Thank you :)

My process for untreated hemp rope:

1. Wash the rope. I wash it in a washing machine with a tiny bit of detergent. 2. Boil the rope. I boil it on the stove then let it simmer for 8+ hours3. Dry the rope. Most people line dry. I tumble dry on low heat. 4. Stretch the rope. Pull it through a metal eye hook with tension. Do this a few times. 5. Singe the rope. Run the rope over an open flame to remove the stray/loose fibers. 6, Wash, dry, and stretch the rope again. 7. (Optional) Condition the rope with mink oil or jojoba wax. I usually don’t. 8. Cut the rope to length and whip the ends.9. Tie boys up.

That is a long process for rope. Jesus. Hopefully the rope is inexpensive if you have to do all that

Good hemp rope is not inexpensive. But it is a LOT cheaper if you buy it untreated. You need to plan a weekend project though.
