27 pls my crops are dying
Elphaba was messing with her bow tie when Glinda’s car showed up at the end of her driveway.
“Don’t ruin the party too much!” Shell called as she hurried out the door. Elphaba made her way to the car, walking carefully so she wouldn’t get dirt on her shoes. She avoided looking at Glinda’s side, not quite ready to see whatever expression she had.
But then she opened the door and slid inside, and she couldn’t help but stare. Glinda’s dress was a deep, deep red. The straps sat low on her shoulders, exposing her collarbone, and flowers were laced into the skirt. Glinda shifted, tugging at it, but even sitting down she looked–
“You look…” Elphaba couldn’t even finish the sentence. Glinda blushed and put her car in reverse.
“I could say the same,” she said as they pulled out of Elphaba’s driveway. “It’s a good thing I had time to recover while you walked to the car.”
“Did I render you speechless?” Elphaba teased, recovering a little. Glinda smiled out the windshield.
“Pretty much.” Glinda let her hand rest on the center console. Elphaba took it and intertwined their fingers. “I wish…”
Glinda shook their hands a little. “It’s a shame we can’t spend all night like this.”
“Are you sure about that?” Elphaba asked her, smiling a little. “Just take a random turn, we’ll run away for the night.”
Glinda laughed softly. “I wish.”
“Hey. It’ll be fine.” Elphaba lifted Glinda’s hand to kiss her fingers. “I’ll behave, you’ll be adored, and all will be well.”
“We are both going to be bored out of our minds.”
“I wouldn’t say that,” Elphaba argued. “I, at least, have this really cute girl to admire all night long.”
“Oh, shut up.” But she was blushing, grinning wide. She glanced over at Elphaba, then hit her blinker and pulled onto the side of the road.
Glinda put her car in neutral and turned to face Elphaba. “We’ll be pretending all night, but there’s no way I can be around you when you’re dressed like that and not do this at least once.”
“Do what?” Elphaba’s eyes danced.
Glinda cupped Elphaba’s face in her hands. “Kiss me,” she whispered, bumping their foreheads together. “Please?”
Elphaba smiled. “For you, my sweet, anything.”
