Case 1: Introduction
Hello! Itās nice to meet you. I go by the pen name Mira on the internet and I have a lot to say about the horror genre and video games in general. My interest in video games started at a very young age, and my fascination with the horror genre started soon after that. Iām going to outline some things here about myself, so if youāre only here for theĀ āhot takesā you can skip around this part.
Name: Too shy to say, so just call me Mira.
Age: 25 in October!
First Video Game: PokĆ©mon Yellow was my first ever video game. I have distinctly tragic memories about trading my Pikachu almost immediately and getting sad that no other pokĆ©mon would follow me. The first game I ever completed by myself was probably Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.Ā First Horror Movie: Let me preface this with the fact I used to be a huge scardy cat. To the point that an 8 year old me stood in line for an hour to ride the Haunted Mansion in Disney World... only to chicken out and have to be taken off the ride at the Doom Buggies. That being said, my parents have always had fond memories of classic cinema, so I saw the 1973 version ofĀ āDonāt be Afraid of the Darkā at a very young age. Soon after I sought out the āFriday the 13thā movies and āNightmare on Elm Streetā. I cried for full nights after seeing each one, but I finally built up a good tolerance... (after 20-ish years of pain)
Favorites?: Iām not a fan of doing favorites because they always change with me. One day I could be mystified by how amazingĀ āTexas Chainsaw Massacreā is and the very next I could be entranced by how groundbreaking Amnesia: The Dark Decent was for video games.Ā
Academic Background: I went to school for a while to be a game designer, but ended up dropping out after realizing Iām horrible at math and memorizing things. Programming is very tedious and I sincerely respect anyone with the brains to handle it. I thoroughly enjoyed Game Design class and making my own card games and board games, but I soon dropped out of school all together to work full time to help support my mother and younger brother. I ended up earning my two-year degree from SUNY Broome Community College and have moved from the East Coast to the West Coast to keep up with my friends and family members. I hope to go back to school someday and get a four-year degree, but until then Iām more than happy with where I am now!
I hope all of that wasnāt too long and boring. Like I said, this is a very skippable post. If you have any more questions about me, feel free to drop me an ask. Any questions or suggestions are greatly welcomed as well.Ā
