So I’m not sure how prominent this theory is in the TADC fandom, but I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting that Scratch may be Jax’s father.
Some of the reasons being this theory are that Jax looked terrified at the mention of Scratch’s brain tumor, Jax’s room seems designed for a child, the circus seems tailored to Jax (ie: Caine comes immediately whenever Jax calls him but didn’t even show up when Pomni called him during Kaufmo’s abstraction), Scratch and Jax are both animals wearing specifically clothes, etc.
There are more in depth videos on this on TikTok. I know this isn’t an elaborate explanation but trust me, it actually seems fairly plausible.
I wanted to expand on this, particularly how it seems like the circus is tailored to Jax.
In episode two, Jax is complaining that there was no “blood, death, and violence” in the candy kingdom adventure. Ragatha responds saying “I’m sure there’ll be blood, death, and violence in the next adventure.”
Ironically, the next adventure took place in the Mildenhall Manor, where the plot was in fact very violent.
Now I know what you all must be thinking: “Wasn’t it explicitly said that was for Zooble” in which you are correct. However, it’s very arguable that Zooble and Jax or foils of one another, or basically they have parallels in which are contrasted between them in order to simultaneously deepen the understanding of each character. (Ex: Jax is insecure about his identity but not so much is body while Zooble is insecure about their body but not so much their identity). I honestly think this detail of Zooble’s name being used exemplifies the fact that they are foils.
Moreover, Zooble didn’t even like the adventure, whereas Jax would have likely enjoyed the “mature Zooble” route. (I know this is more of a stretch than anything, but harmless speculation never hurt nobody).
I could absolutely go into more detail about this and list more examples if enough people are interested in this theory. I do enjoy both pondering and writing.
(Also like don’t get angry at me if you think my theory is stupid. Like at the end of the day we all have the same interest and chances are that none of our theories will be 100% right).
