tumblr trans men will make “ew cis people” jokes all day long and even write essays on why this is okay bc while marginalized cis people exist it’s about an oppressed class complaining about their oppressors in general accessible terms and even if it hurts the feelings of individuals trans people have that right but the second a woman complains about men it’s all “this site hates men!” “what about marginalized men???” “this harms me as a trans person!” “this is terf behavior!” “trans men are targeted by terfs too!” and eventually escalates to like “women / wlw dni” or beliefs that women have a unique ability to perpetuate transphobia and homophobia against men as if gay and trans women don’t exist and aren’t even more marginalized for this. and it’s ridiculous, embarrassing, but worst of all harmful in the sense that it does perpetuate the belief that women just aren’t oppressed and are lying about their oppression which is far more harmful to trans women

anyways i know we as trans men have to fight to be recognized and respected as men but like if a woman complaining about her oppressing class (which includes you!) hurts your feelings that bad just like… git gud lmao

i also hate when trans men respond to criticism by saying “trans men don’t have full access to male privilege” because while i technically agree by ending the conversation there it elevates trans men to this unique position when like okay, but disabled men don’t have full access to male privilege either, gay men don’t have full access to male privilege, black men definitely don’t have full access to male privilege, but what matters is that within our own communities we hold power over women who are similarly marginalized (in our case trans women) and it is our responsibility to recognize that and utilize the privilege we do have to protect and elevate those who experience the intersection of being a woman and also [insert other oppressed class]
