i understand many many people would like to see jbenn retire and/or just not re-sign with the stars specifically even if just because everyone's thinking too much about the cap & one contract off the books is a little more money to spend on mav & robo etc etc etc. but i feel like realistically you can't Expect jbenn to leave while tyler's still under contract. because i do think tyler will not let him leave while they're both still able to run it back together. you know. i remember tyler mythologizing their joint history with this team by saying 'we have a great opportunity in front of us to prove a lot of people wrong' during the 2020 run. so on and so forth.

If this is Jamie Benn's last game, I just want to say that it has been an honor to have this Tumblr account about him (and Tyler Seguin) and that it will be empty without him. It will honestly take some time for me to get used to and accept the situation.

As someone who has struggled and still struggles with mental health, hockey Tumblr and Jamie Benn & Tyler Seguin have been a sanctuary, for which I am extremely grateful❤️

Jamie is the Dallas Stars nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

There might not be a better example of "dedication to ice hockey" than Jamie Benn. The longest-tenured captain in Stars history returned for his 17th season after uncertainty about retirement last summer. In a selfless, team-first move, the 36-year-old took an $8.5 million annual pay cut to help Dallas retain younger stars like Mikko Rantanen, Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnston.

Despite playing 371 consecutive games from 2021-25, Benn missed the first 19 games this season after suffering a collapsed lung in preseason. Since returning in a reduced role since his Art Ross-winning peak, he still has produced 14 goals and 30 points in 48 games, helping Dallas contend for the Presidents' Trophy. Whether healthy or not, Benn's leadership remains central to the Stars' success.

After a career full of accolades, a Stanley Cup is the last achievement the entire Stars organization is working to reach for him.
