strange things are afoot

i was doing a test print of this deer centaur sculpt, but got my files mixed up and ended up printing parts of two different versions -> the leg pieces didn't fit together and the doll had trouble staying standing.

i would have thrown the incorrect pieces away and reprinted, but the non-functional legs gave me the idea to do something fun with it -> i glued the joints into position, drilled a hole through the doll, and went ham with a carousel horse aesthetic.

a commission for a friend, who needed an eos to go with their scholar cosplay. it was interesting to work on a design that is so far from anything i would usually make. had to flex my non-existent anime girl sculpting muscles, but i think the end result is mega cute.

Loki’s Costume Harem version! You saw the helmet andd the boots already - so it’s a time to show the full attire now!

It was a very complicated project for me. Usually I know what I want to do from the start. This time it was very different. I just wanted to make Loki a nice harem skirt and a lot of matching golden jewelry with a green stones. I purchased some jewelry on Aliexpress and started my hunt on a proper style Indian sari. It took about 2 or more months until I saw that green sari with golden woven pattern.

So, the fabric arrived, and I started to design Loki’s clothes. Soon I understood that my plan for him doesn’t show off his beauty and regalness, sort of. I added a shirt. I made a skirt, but it still didn’t work somehow. I continued designing clothes, came up with a longer shirt, and THREE versions of the skirt were discarded! Luckily, those discarded parts were incorporated to another costumes and are sold already.

I tried to find green fabric for his pants and failed miserably, because it was so hard to pick up a shade to the green of the sari. But the golden weaving was made on a burgundy base so I decided to make the pants out of a burgundy velvet.

I made those high heeled boots - you know that they’re for the flat feet, so I had to be innovative here. The boots also have a lacing that I won’t make for any of my customers because it takes a looool of time to put on.

And I made his helmet - never did anything like this before. It took me a lot of time to refine its shape.

The gothic throne wih a canopy is a final touch here.

Now my Loki needs a tall, blonde, handsome, muscular concubine…

so i have...mixed feelings about the l.o.l surprise line as a whole (it’s hard to endorse a line where the about of plastic waste generated weighs more than the actual doll) but the o.m.g dolls... got my attention. at first in a kind of ‘oh god what’ way, and then in a ‘oh no they’re cute’ way. 

which is a long-winded intro to the fact that i repainted neonlicious just for giggles, because most of my repaints have been surprises for others recently and i wanted to do something for myself (and then cover it in obscene amounts of glitter).

so i can’t believe i forgot to even take pictures earlier, but! here’s everyone’s favourite (?) kush-smoking sharecherry-stealing unicorn-riding gadgeteer dwarf, chester bree!

she’s my character from a friend of mine’s runequest campaign, made from a peter pan on an older volks body (but with original hands because. one hand got lost.)

it’s also my first time sewing anything more finished than just darning a sock, and for once i’m genuinely proud! even if the hood ended up too small to acrually wear orz

Finished!! Proper pics tomorrow! I cut off the original top. I asked hubby and he said it was too busy. I agreed, it didn’t work. So I replaced it with a simple corset and it’s amazing!
