Saw this on Essence Magazineās Snapchat and thought it would be helpfulš
Yeah seriously, sex education never told me any of this in school. Little me was panicked seeing the dark coloured bits and i had no clue thatās just the normal colour blood goes when its clotted or dried.
the pink slide is the same as the grey one? so i googled it and it seems pink is usually just anemia, low estrogen, or some other lack of nutrients.
or if its spotting between periods it could be from ovulation, or even caused by implantation (when a fertilized egg attaches to the uterus lining a few days after conception)
I feel like more people need to see/know this
Also remember you can have discharge at the same time as period blood, which isnāt what they mean by āoff white clumpsā š
Confidence challenge of the week #2
sorry for the inactivity but finals are killing me! once iām on break expect more content here!
drink lots of water, eat fruit and vitamins please take care of yourself this season! get at least 7 minutes of sun a day and go for a walk if you can! (or walk around your house or your backyard if you canāt), stay hydrated and take vitamins to avoid getting sick during break! stay active to avoid seasonal depression. if youāre already sick take care of yourself and go to the doctor and follow their instructions!! your physical health is important!
extra tip: if you canāt do any of this bc you live in an apartment or are still in college dorms, try to stretch, stand on your tippy toes while youāre doing dishes or any other shore that allows it, try to touch your feet while watching a tv show during commercial breaks, walk around your living room to do a lil workout š
taking care of your body and health will definitely help with your confidence as itāll make you feel like you have control over something, especially after finals and such. āØ

Tips for healthy skin!
* Eat clean. Avoid things such as dairy, greasy foods, and sugary foods. These things really do have major effects on skin.
* Drink water. My advice is to drink half of your body weight in ounces.
* Wash your face twice every day. I will be honest, iām never committed enough to do this. But I know people who swore by it and their skin never got a pimple. They said you break out at first then you are clear forever.
* If youāre already on birth control, ask your doctor if you can go on a birth control that is specially made to regulate acne. It should have the same amount of protection and help for mild to medium acne.
* Moisturize twice a day. Whether you are dry, combination, or oily. Moisturizing on dry skin will give it the moisture in needs. Moisturizing on oily skin will stop the overproduction of oil in your skin.
Honey+Pomegranate Lip Mask
I hadnāt heard of lip masks until my friend asked me to post one because her lips have been really dehydrated lately. Iāve done lip scrubs before which are to exfoliate your lips. Honestly I thought they were the same thing. Anyway while looking online for a lip mask I came across one made out of only two ingredients. Raw honey and pomegranate juice. But quite honestly you only need the honey. Honey is a great moisturizer for your lips and another good thing about it is that it has antibiotic properties. Honey is one of the simplest thing you can use for beauty routines and itāll work wonderfully for you. Not only lips but skin too. Id you do want to add pomegranate juice itāll be mostly to add a but of tint to your lips more than anything but it does have antioxidants and moisturizing properties also. Ā So like I said you donāt need to use Ā it but if you do itāll also be a good addition to the mask.
Ingredients:
1 tsp of Raw Honey
½ tsp of pomegranate juice
Directions:
Mix the honey and pomegranate and apply to your lips. If you want to reapply thatās okay. A tip I would recommend following is to refrigerate the honey for a few minutes before using it because if its warm itāll drip off your lips. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes and then wipe it off. Try not to lick your lips because that dries them.
PS: If you have any requests for something you want me to post please tell me and Iāll make a post on it.Ā
How to make a self care kit!
* Make a list of things that make you happy or calm you down. This can be things like coloring, planting seeds, prayer, a good book, et cetera.
* Go out and collect the items you need for the list to be doable. For my examples above you would get colors and a coloring book, seeds, pots, soil, prayer sheets, and a good book.
* Get a box the appropriate size for your materials. My box might be bigger considering soil would be in it, but your choice!
* Decorate it so beautifully it looks Pinterest worthy. Glue pictures, decorate with rhinestones and glitter, whatever looks good to you!
* Place everything you collect in the box in an organized fashion. Make it neat and maybe even organize it into sections.
* On the box, or on a sheet of paper on top of the box, rewrite your list of things that the box now offers. Seed planting, coloring, prayer opportunities, reading.
* Turn to the box when needed, you did it! When youāre feeling low, go to the box and it will provide. Enjoy!
How to live better ⨠#1
ā¢Replace one item of ājunkā food per week/ two weeks for an item of āhealthyā food. For example:
Week one- swap that Jaffa cake or two (or ten š) for an orange. I love the bags of small ones that you can get, super handy to grab when rushing out the door. Also making spirals with the peels is super fun and cuts down on mess!
Week two- do a switcheroo with that bag of crisps and a handful of nuts. No honey roasted donāt count, try lightly salted (hint: buy unsalted and add a bit yourself, the ones you buy in shops have wayyy too much salt) and gradually work down to having less and less salt. Your body will thank you for the lack of grease (not to mention your skin).
Week 3- tip out that cup of coffee and pour yourself a big glass of cool water. It has been shown that drinking a cold glass of water as soon as you get up can be just as effective as a cup of coffee to wake you up! And so much better for you! Water makes up 70% of your body but youšneedšmoreš. Drinking more water holds benefits for your whole body, it helps keep your skin looking fresh and makes everything work smoothly.

Starting to eat healthy seems so daunting at first but you donāt need to dive in headfirst with fad diets or full on veganism overnight, your body isnāt having any of that. You need to make eating healthy part of a happy daily life and it should still be something you enjoy, but with a heightened sense of awareness of what is in your food and also where itās coming from; Buying fair trade is a fantastic way of helping farmers and their communities if you can afford it.
Good luck lovelies!! ā¤ļø

Basic Skincare Tips
-Donāt use a product with mint in it, mint is irritable to the skin (esp. to acne prone).
-Try to avoid products with alcohol in them; they can dry out your skin!
-NEVER apply essential oils on your skin if they are not significantly diluted. It will burn and damage your skin!
-Wear sunscreen EVERYDAY and re-apply every 2 hours
-Avoid picking your skin/touching your skin as much as possible!
-Every skin type needs to moisturize!!! Yes, even oily skin! (remember to also moisturize your neck + body)
-Rosehip oil will help heal your acne scars (apply before you go to sleep).
-Drink lots of water!
-Work towards consuming less sugary foods + dairy products (if you can), and instead eat/drink more antioxidants like green tea, dark chocolate, berries, pecans, etc.
-Exfoliate once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells.
-You do not need to have a 10 step routine, or a million products to have healthier skin. Applying too many on acne prone skin will just cause more inflammation.
-You do not need to use a toner. For some people toners are very beneficial, for others it dries out their skin. Find out what is best for you!
-Donāt put sugar on your skin; it is too harsh of an exfoliant!
Hoe Tips: Looking Your Best When You Have Zero Time
Alright y'all, I know you guys have started school and you probably have zero free time to really beat your face or look groomed without sacrificing sleep or classtime, so Iām droppin some quick tips.
1. Sleep>everything. Do not get less than 6 hours of sleep each night (really, no less than 8, but as a fulltime college student in a healthcare major I know thats not always realistic). Your physical health is more important than your grades, more important than doing your makeup in the morning, etc. Span out your studying gradually throughout the week so you arenāt cramming, and if you didnāt get enough sleep, just donāt do your makeup the next morning. I promise you, no one will really care whether or not youāre wearing makeup.
2. Have a 5 minute routine down pat if you still wanna beat your face. Mine is as follows: moisturizer/primer, tinted brow mascara/brow pencil, tinted BB cream, powder, blush and highlight, mascara, sheer lip gloss, setting spray. Easy peasy.
3. Lay out your outfits on your bed/dresser the night before. Having an ensemble already available to you saves a shit ton of time in the morning.
4. Have your lunch packed and your bag ready the night before.
5. Do some of your skincare routine in the shower. Wash and exfoliate while waiting for your shampoo to settle into your hair, leave on a face mask while shaving your legs, etc.
6. Apply coconut oil/castor oil to your lashes and brows before you go to bed every night for long, voluminous lashes and bold, groomed brows.
7. Keep a chapstick/lip balm on you at all times to ensure those babies are soft 24/7.
8. Never skip moisturizer. I like to use a Clean and Clear moisturizer with salicylic acid in it; it hydrates my skin and helps fight acne all in one.
9. Always have a hair tie on you in case of a bad hair day.
10. The less you wear makeup, the better your face starts to look without it. I used to wear makeup religiously (and I still love wearing it), but I found that sleep and making it to class/work on time every day is way more important than a beat face. Plus my skin benefits from having time to breathe. I promise y'all are gorgeous with AND without makeup, and your skin will thank you for having a day off.
11. Keep a small spray bottle of perfume in your car/bag.
12. Paint your nails/toes while studying. Reading over your notes while waiting for your nails to dry can make good use of some time.
13. Leave one day a week where you donāt do any school work, for beauty and personal care. Everyone needs a break, and that can be your self care day.
šThats all for now, good luck this semester hoes, stay beautifulš

MUST HAVE MASKS
I hope you enjoy! š
PinkĀ Australian Clay
IĀ canāt even tell you guys how amazing this shit is. The reviews are true. After one use IĀ notice a difference right away. My pores are smaller, my skin is brighter, my skin is matte, and feels super soft all at the same time. It helps with hyper-pigmentaion, acne, draws out impurities & toxins. It helps restore the skinās natural defense shield and it is gentle enough for sensitive skin. I use this 1-2x a week. It costs $50 but it will last you a long time.Ā
Wash-off Black Sugar Honey Mask
I use this about once a week. Great for sensitive skin. The black sugar is unrefined and is enriched with minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium, and potassium. It also has vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin, and pantothenic acid.Ā Manuka honey has antioxidant and antibacterial properties so itās great for acne. too I find this also helps fade blemishes/hyper-pigmentation while locking in moisture. I love how soft and radiant my skin feels after using!
Pumpkin Glycolic Mask
I use this every 2 weeks. After applying yourĀ skin feels kinda tingly and warm. It smells like pumpkin pie lol. I use this for hyper-pigmentation and scars. I also find it keeps my acne at bay. It has vitamins C, antioxidants, and beta carotene (resurfaces skin for even tone & texture). It takes time to see results but this stuff is really aiding in healing my hyper-pigmentation.
Derma 9 Zone Mask
IĀ just ordered this stuff and Iām superĀ excited to try it out.Ā āT-Zone Mask helps treat the most common problem area. It cleanses the pores and eliminate impurities, without drying out your face or adding oil.Ā The Eye Zone Mask is designed for the fragile skin surrounding your eyes, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, dark circles, and age spots, while locking in moisture.Ā The S-Zone Mask revitalizes and nourishes your cheeks, reducing inflammation and blemishes, giving them a youthful, radiant glow.āĀ (derma9.com).Ā These masks are filled with turmeric, olive leaf extract, acai berry, and bamboo charcoal.Ā
The reviews on this stuff are great. Iāll let you know my experience with it! :)
Tips for healthy skin!
* Eat clean. Avoid things such as dairy, greasy foods, and sugary foods. These things really do have major effects on skin.
* Drink water. My advice is to drink half of your body weight in ounces. The more water that goes in, the more that comes out. So donāt worry about it affecting your weight. Water cleans out your system and leaves you glowing.
Tips for taking photos when you are stuck at home!
* Use things you already have! If you have any hats, fake flowers, et cetera they can look cute in photos!
* If you have a computer, look up a color on images then turn off the lights, now you have colorful lighting!
* If your house aināt cute, you could hang up sheets for a background or get in front of a painting:)
* If your lighting is bad, open up a window and sit facing the sunlight! This comes out for really nice lighting.
* If you can, get a timer app to take your photos for you if you can set up your phone camera. Most iphones already come with this feature.
* Look online for different poses and try them all out. I use WeHeartIt for this. I have my own collection of photo ideas so if I am in need of inspiration I turn towards those!
* If you have a family member or friend who likes taking photos too, you can take photos of one another or take photos together with the timer!
* Try experimental makeup! Wear purple lipstick! Thereās no harm in getting creative.
* Take fake candids. Pretend someone else totally took that photo and you were just off guard gorgeous(;
I've got exams coming up in the summer just like so many people and idk about everyone else but I'm SO BAD at focusing! On one of @maristaylorrblogs's posts she recommends the app Forest, and I downloaded it, not expecting much to be completely honest. I thought it would be another timer with some pretty tree graphics but I was SO wrong. It allows you to set a timer and choose a tree/ bush to grow while you do your work while not allowing you to leave the app without your tree dying. It uses a coin system so you can unlock new trees and background noises but my favourite part of having the coins is that you can actually plant real trees with them! The app has partnered with Trees For The Future to plant trees around the world. It also allows you to group your sessions into different sections, and then shows you analysis of the different tasks you complete during the day. I can already tell this app is going to become a staple in my routine!!! (Also go give @maristaylorrblogs a cheeky follow š) Lots of love xx
Ten must have apps
* Unum. This is an app that you can set out photos on your already existing instagram page to see how they would look if you were to post them. This is perfect for someone who has an instagram feed, like me. (itās @maristaylorr)
* VSCO. This is my main app that I use to edit my photos. I have bought so many of their filter packages and I just love how easy it is for me to edit with this app.
* Forest. This app is for when I try to do homework then end up scrolling on instagram for 30 minutes plus. In the app you have a plot of land and you can plant trees. You set the time on how long you want your tree to take them you plant it. Once you plant the tree, you canāt leave the app until the tree is planted. Otherwise, your plant will die. This is super good for when I am pressed with time but I canāt control myself on my phone.
* Clue. This app is a nice girly app. All about periods. It tracks all of that, I would highly recommend.
* My Fitness Pal. This app is where you can pick how much you want to lose or gain and the calories you will need to get to your goal. It leaves you very aware of what you eat.
* Goodreads. This app allows you to track everything you read then give you suggestions based on your ratings. When I had free time, I used to read so many books I couldnāt remember which books I had actually read. Now I know(:
* Snapseed. This app is for editing photos. It is quite unique in its brush feature. Itās hard to explain, but just check it out!!
* Quizlet. This app is a lifesaver when I have a test or quiz to study for. Itās like flash cards to go. If iām waiting in line or something I could just pull out my phone and study for my test. You can also share your sets with your peers! For my american history tests, all of my classmates spread out my set like itās wildfire and study with it. Itās super helpful for a student.
* Flo. This app is another period app. Isnāt as easy to track your stuff, but when you log your periods it tells you what they mean. Cramps, heavy periods, et cetera.
* WeHeartIt. This app is for my own aesthetic purposes. It helps me pick out poses for my photos, and just gives me photo inspiration. Itās awesome.
