It pisses me off that black women are so hipersexualized, absolutely everything in "x black reader" is all smut and thats it, no fluff no another thing. And the worts part is that its black women themselves who write all of this and choose to stay in that category.

You literally can get in the "x black reader" in any fandom and wont find anything else but sexual content.

I won't complain about the smut writers because that's the reason why I'm on Tumblr. I predominantly read smut and I'm very grateful for all the x black reader writers whether they write smut or not. Concerning the baby daddy! x black reader, I don't have a problem with women who have a baby daddy irl as long as they are not delusional. It also applies to fiction so when the reader is delusional I just don't read. In the case of this trope and the drug dealer!character etc. I think that people write what they know, what they like or what they think the character would be like if he existed and it's okay. I'm saying all that but it doesn't mean that I feel represented by most x black readers. So I'm starting to write my own self indulging x black reader.

If you want more diverse black readers you need to start writing.

something i've been increasingly noticing and i saw was recently pointed out by another user is the fact that everyone(used loosely) is in love with Bobby which sure he's hot, but he's also there for five minutes and doesn't have much of an actual character arc or even major personality quirks. Yet still, people manage to uplift the white character and ignore the main character of color and write countless fanfictions of him and circle the movie around him, when Clark, a (in my mind) ground breaking character that is a black man who's allowed to be (somewhat) evil and flawed, gets pushed aside so fans can keep fawning over the extremely minor white character. i'm not saying that you HAVE to choose one or the other, but i feel like Clark is heavily under appreciated at least fanfiction wise. though i am pleasantly surprised and happy to see so many people loving him, babygirlifying making kawaii edits of him(lol) after only seeing non black(and mainly white) characters receive this type of treatment, it is a breath of fresh air, but we've still got a long way to go.
