hi! i was going through your blog and came across a post when you said you’re leaving fresno to santa cruz. i wanted to ask about your experience. i’m from fresno as well and applied to uc santa cruz with the hopes of being accepted. what would be your advice to me about leaving home? was it hard for you? was it hard to make new friends? i so badly want to leave fresno but i get homesick quickly lol. i have so many questions to ask
hi!! i apologize for taking so long to respond to ur question— overall i would say that i got more used to living away from home over time. when i first moved to santa cruz i didn’t know anyone. i would strongly recommend joining clubs/orgs outside of class, and attending on-campus programs/events. i met my first college friend at an art event hosted over the summer, and to this day she’s still my best and closest friend. my advice is to put urself out there, and get involved in activities u care about! i dealt with homesickness by calling my parents at least once a week, keeping in touch with hometown friends, and on especially hard days i would go somewhere in town that reminds me of home (for me it’s the local deli). i hope this helps and good luck in college!! 💛
Omg- we gotta learn from here on how to romantisize studying TT so great to study with such environment 🌲🌾
romanticizing life’s more tough or boring tasks makes them more bearable— sending lots of positive energy ur way 💛
1/6/24: happy new year! coming back to this blog, after yet another hiatus, with good news: i got a job!!! after spending all summer job hunting, i finally got hired in november as a caseworker. i love my job so far and i’m happy to be living in santa cruz again, and i still plan on applying to law school and becoming an attorney…but for now, i’m happy with how my life is turning out.
Hi!! Could you suggest some sociology related studyblr(s). Your favorites please. Thank you!!
hi there! i actually don’t know of any studyblrs specific to sociology— though i’m sure there’s a lot out there!! i’m sorry i can’t help more but i hope u were able to find some!
love your blog 💕 good luck on your law school applications!! 😊
thank you so much!! 🥰
happy 4th birthday to my lil study blog 🧁📓🖇️
5.20.23: almost a month later and i’m still thinking about my solo day trip to philly. the genesis of my trip was a tattoo appointment with one of my fave stick n poke artists. i got a lil bunny 🐇
the train trip was lovely and i read my book & drank my coffee during the ride over. i also found that the neighborhoods in philly are a lot like d.c. [photos from 4.27.23]
5.17.23: guess who moved to washington d.c. !? i’ve been living here since march and have been enjoying the city life. i’m here as a part of the ucdc program & i’ve been planning this since before i started college at uc santa cruz
i’m proud of myself for making it into the program and for surviving out here, 3000 miles away from my family and friends in california. and i’m only 4 weeks away from graduating with two bachelors degrees!! i’m interning for a non-profit legal organization, taking a congressional seminar course, and beginning my law school applications for next fall. i’m ready for the next chapter after undergrad, and i’m proud of myself for making it this far 🌸
march 2023: winter quarter slipped by so fast it almost doesn’t feel real. it’s already almost summer but it feels like my mind is still stuck in last year.
i completed my two senior capstones in march, wrapping up both my majors and being this much closer to my two BA degrees. i took 17 units, worked a part-time internship, and discovered a new hobby: tide-pooling. i spent a lot of time alone and i remember feeling more sad than i had a reason to be, but learned more about myself in the process 🌱
january - march 2023: it’s been a while since i’ve posted on here; i’ve been more overwhelmed than usual lately but i want to keep up this digital academic diary of mine.
these photos are notes from the legal philosophy class i took in winter quarter, and my latte & carrot muffin from a coffee study date with my bestie.
dec 20, 2022 - hello lovelies! if ur still around or haven’t forgotten about me, u have a special place in my heart <3 the last time i posted on here was in january?! this long posting hiatus was due to a steep increase in workload and some exciting but tumultuous life changes. some academic highlights of my year:
(1) i completed my six month full time field study internship earlier this month, and the whole experience was one of growth, self reflection, and affirmation of my passions. (2) i am 3 months away from completing both of my BA degrees, and 6 months away from commencement— how is college already almost over?! (3) i started reading for fun again! i might start posting more book recs so let me know if that’s something u’d like. (4) and finally, i applied and got into the University of California Washington Program (UCDC). i fly out to D.C. in march and i’ll live + work there until june, right before i graduate.
if u made it to the end of this post u get a kiss on the forehead! i appreciate anyone who’s stuck around with me for this long— when i started this blog i was still hoping to get into uc santa cruz, and now i’m 6 months away from graduating (with honors) from my dream school. here’s to another year of growth, and appreciating all that we’re capable of 🪴
1.26.22 - here are some photos that capture the vibes of winter quarter so far. it’s officially mushroom season on campus (unlike animal crossing, mushroom season is in january here lol) so i’ve been trying to photograph them! it’s generally pretty cold on campus since it’s in the forest and there’s usually an ocean breeze, but it’s been very sunny lately. i can’t complain though because i love the sunshine :)
1.25.22 - well it’s fair to say it’s been a minute since i’ve last posted. it’s officially week 4 of winter quarter & i’m busier than i’ve ever been but loving it. i started a new job this month— director of student development for the student volunteer center— & i’m actively serving as a campaign coordinator for the uc student association, as well as public relations officer for crown student senate. another bit of exciting news: last quarter i made the dean’s list for getting all As in my classes :) when i first started this blog uc santa cruz was still a dream of mine.. & now i’m living in my dream city, attending my dream school, building the life i’ve always wanted for myself & thriving. thanks to everyone who’s stuck around this far <3

so happy i came across your blog. i just graduated from ucsb so all of your posts are so comforting <3
thank u so much! this comment made my night & i'm happy my blog could bring a bit of joy :) best of luck on ur post-grad endeavors! <3
What’s the best place to get away in Santa Cruz
hmmm my favorite coffee place is 11th hour & my favorite beach is natural bridges or seabright beach. i also highly recommend stopping at the boardwalk or taking a drive down west cliff drive!
Soon to be college freshman, Can you give me advice? Like what I'll need when I move into dorms? Study tactics? Things like that?
the best things i can recommend are investing in a mini fridge for ur dorm along w a brita filter and hydroflask-- u don't wanna only rely on the dining hall for water! & as far as studying i usually try & schedule when i'm going to complete a reading or hw assignment, that way i stay on track. i hope this helps & if u want more advice don’t hesitate to ask :)
