anyways the next time someone apologizes to you with some hyperbolic tripe along the lines of “I can never apologize enough for the colossal harm I have done” know that naming an impossible goal that one can’t possibly meet is a way to distract you from the achievable goal they don’t want to pursue: comprehensively apologizing to you a way that recognizes the greater scope of the harm and helps provide a coherent narrative for you to continue past the harm.
