father’s day is something that cass cares a lot about.

seeing as johnny had raised her, been there for her, was always the parent present, she’s made sure to make sure he’s thanked every year. sure, maybe cass could have been a bit of a handful at times and yeah, when she was younger she acted out a bit, but in the end, she always knew who she could run to when there was a problem.

from poorly made breakfast in bed and crafts as gifts when she was a child, to eventually dinners and a day planned just for him as an adult, cass has done everything in her power to make sure johnny knew how appreciated she was by him for raising her to be the woman she is today. without him, she wouldn’t be as strong as she is, leading the life she leads, and being a good heart.

cassie’s use of the emerald light isn’t exactly of her choice, and she doesn’t decide when she can summon it. as stated in canon by herself and johnny, the only time both of them have been able to summon these abilities are in the case of saving a loved one. that’s been the case so far in cassie’s time since finding out about the emerald light having been passed down to her as well.

however, time and focus has allowed her to at least use a small amount of her abilities.

before we get into that, a quick overview of what her abilities actually do is in order. cassie’s abilities with the emerald light are simply more of an enhancement of her natural fighting ability. it’s more an adrenaline rush than anything, giving her added strength and power behind her punches and kicks. it also gives her the energy needed to keep going, that extra bit of fight to keep her alive in the moment. keep in mind these enhancements are only acquired during a full summon of the emerald light and cannot be found in just regular kombat.

now, getting into the modern use of her abilities, a lot of this comes from learning about them and actually taking the time to focus her mind and energy. there are a few things i’ll take from her movesets in regards to the emerald light and a lot of that deals with transfer of power to an object she handles. you’ll notice that sometimes a glow can be seen with her pistols, such as during her fatal blow. the use of the emerald light in these cases deals a lot with how close she is to bowing out of a fight. if she’s on the edge, she can summon just a bit to get her through and hopefully back home in one piece. it’s rare but it does happen every now and then. this transfer of power is limited and only lasts for a moment, enough to where she can move herself from a harrowing situation.

the emerald light is more something that lays dormant in her body, only allowing itself to be revealed in the most dangerous and necessary of circumstances. it’s why cass is only able to summon these abilities when she’s about to die or someone else she cares for is. it’s as if the emerald light knows what is going on, can sense the situation by the change in heartbeat and activity.

while cass is a proud bisexual, she still doesn’t feel comfortable airing that out to the world. there’s still so much stigma and bad vibes that surround being bisexual that cassie would rather keep it to herself and close friends than have the entire world know.

it’s better for her this way because then she can be happier than if she were being judged by people on social media here and there, people who are looking for something to tear her apart with.

her sexuality is for herself, not for the world to know.

johnny was the first person cass came out to, and it was more like she was trying to be subtle about it but he caught on. it was her first girlfriend, her probably ever like real relationship, and she had brought her over. the girl’s name was shania and it’s a memory she’ll forever remember. cass had brought her over, stumbled over her words in telling johnny that “she was just a friend who happened to be a girl.” but it was more about how cass talked about shania to johnny, that twinkle in her eyes and the way her smile would light up the room. the two dated for a good year, cass finally opening up over dinner one night with johnny.

as time went on, she didn’t feel like she had to tiptoe around the subject with so many of her friends and family, feeling more confident in bringing her girlfriends around when she was dating women.

she’s probably dated more women in the past than men, especially in high school but as she grew older, some men caught her eye a bit more. it’s all about the timing in her life and what the person brings to the table. she wants stability at this point because there’s too much chaos in her life as it is. the only issue is finding someone worth putting up with this mess and so many people hardly understand her life. it’s why she’s taken to dating people she’s more familiar with as of late, people she’s worked alongside.

she looks at her dating life in terms of who she’s with at the time as the universe just saying that’s what she needs right now.

so i’m gonna go in depth about this eventually, but this is just an overview when it comes to cassie and the emerald light. i mostly keep to canon in regards to her only ever being able to summon those abilities when someone she loves is in danger. i’m gonna maybe work in a few things about her movesets and kind of apply them but i have to go over everything i want to include.

if you don’t think cassie regrets telling d’vorah about mothman, you’re wrong. she never thought d’vorah would take it seriously but she also should have known better and now she’s gotta deal with one day when the bee finds out that mothman isn’t even real.

cass goes through multiple phones just because of d’vorah and honestly started to just give d’vorah burner phones to play with instead of her phone so she didn’t have to replace her’s so often.

since i’m talking about it, cassie pretty much got used to the idea of keeping herself secluded from the public eye because of the paparazzi growing up. it always bothered her to see people be so intrusive that it stuck with her to try and always keep her personal life very private and under wraps. even her social media accounts that are meant to bring in revenue don’t show any aspects of her personal life, instead you can find anything regarding her and erron behind a private instagram account that most people don’t even know about because she doesn’t like featuring it.

there’s also the fact that she doesn’t like speaking of her life to sonya or johnny because sonya’s very judgmental about her choices and even if johnny is rather accepting, she still feels like something is looming over. it’s more or less doubt she feels.

cass only wants to be the center of attention when it’s on her terms.
