Dove in this universe is def a case of the victim becoming the abuser. She herself tried many times to escape the house when she was a kid, which was often booby trapped and filled with many false exits. Bro's traps would either just keep her trapped somewhere else in the house, cause her bodily harm, or he would be waiting on the other side of an "exit" to punish her. This gave Dove the understanding that even if she managed to find a way out, she'd never be sure if it was a set up or not. Now years later after Bro is gone and Dove is the only one left, she's doing the same thing to Karkat. Unlike Bro, though, Dove doesn't have the heart to cause physical harm to Karkat.
