hey tags! popping in with three skeletons to share as we work on finishing up the roleplay. progress has been slow as my semester got busier than expected, but i'm hoping to be able to have the roleplay up by the end of the month / first week of april or sooner if things continue to go well.
below, you can find three completed skeletons. some information has been redacted as we're still toying with specifics in the plot, but it's nothing that should take away from the overall skeleton. we'll have fourteen skeletons total with 2 being reserved for the admin team—8 are gender-locked, while 4 are open to any. if there's significant interest or a considerable number of applications, we may make room for 2 - 4 more muns/muses.
we've still got a few things to check off our to-do list and a few decisions left to still make, but we wanted to share these little teasers and give an estimated time for opening, since we've gotten a few asks about if we're still planning on opening. if you have any questions or feedback, feel free to let us know in our inbox. can't wait to show you everything we have planned! see you soon! 💚
#trophy_husband.
TROPHY HUSBAND'S family have been landmark figures in the political landscape for decades—his grandfather once held the keys to the city of ▇▇, while his father currently sits in ▇▇. since birth, TROPHY HUSBAND has been primed to follow in the footsteps of the men before him. strict rules and high expectations plagued his adolescent years, thanks to his family's very public lifestyle, and many were surprised at his inclusion in the infamous brat pack—especially considering his hesitance to admit his friendship with them. having recently completed his master's in political science, TROPHY HUSBAND is expected to work on his father's re-election campaign this summer—and his recent engagement to the daughter of the country's largest media conglomerates, is sure to work in his family's favor.
trophy husband: open.
locked for male muses.
age range: 25 - 26.
#nomad.
the heir to one of the country's largest tech companies, NOMAD felt like an outsider at ▇▇, despite being one of the school's wealthiest students. the privilege given to them from birth had always confused and disgusted them, and their peers' obsession with status and social hierarchy never quite appealed to them, preferring instead to dedicate their time to community activism. despite growing up alongside the brat pack, NOMAD had never been welcomed into their circle. after graduation, NOMAD gave up a significant portion of their trust fund and travelled around the globe, opting to volunteer for several non-profit organizations instead of taking over their parent's company. they've recently returned to ▇▇ after being away for five long years, but nobody is really sure why they've decided to return—and why they've suddenly shown interest in reconnecting with their old "friends" from ▇▇.
nomad: open.
m / f / nb.
age range: 26 - 28.
#miss_congeniality.
MISS CONGENIALITY is the daughter of a world-famous supermodel and a retired entertainment lawyer. while she inherited her mother's beauty, MISS CONGENIALITY didn't seem to inherit her mother's talent. despite being thrust into beauty pageants and modelling from a young age, the only achievement MISS CONGENIALITY has walked away with is the measly title of miss ▇▇. after the realization that she wasn't meant to follow in her mother's footsteps, MISS CONGENIALITY scored an internship at a fashion house in ▇▇, thanks to a few strings pulled by her mother, where she met PROM KING. PROM KING and MISS CONGENIALITY dated for a little over a year, but have since broken up. during their relationship, PROM KING had introduced MISS CONGENIALITY to the rest of the brat pack, where she got accustomed to all the perks that came with being a part of the 'it' crowd—and she's decided to stick around, despite the fact that she's no longer PROM KING'S girlfriend.
can we expect all skellies to have the same amount of detail as those posted?
for the most part, yes, but some skeletons may have more or less details in certain areas—for example, some may or may not include significant connections, like a romantic partner or a relative and some may or may not have an occupation attached to them. essentially, the skeletons serve as a way to encourage diversity in a premise that could get repetitive. we've added details like their family's source of wealth, their family's reputation or their reputation, and, in some cases, occupations and past rumors to make sure we don't end up with too much repetition in those areas, but as you can see in the three skeletons shared, we've done our very best to avoid commenting on the muse's personality, interests, or their relationship with their parents, to offer our writers as much creative freedom as possible.
hey! any updates? how’s it going with the skellies and the now finished poll?
we're still working on things! i don't want to share too many details regarding the skeletons in case we decide to make some last minute changes, but we'll have 12 open skeletons (8 gender-locked and 4 without a lock) with room to expand to 14 open slots if there's enough interest. we'll share another update when we're ready to set an opening date!
hey nonnie! initially, i was thinking of basing it in seoul due to pulling inspiration from celebrity and the heirs, but the premise has since shifted to be more reminiscent of the og gossip girl and, as we've been writing skeletons, i've been considering the possibility of setting it in manhattan. the reason i'm considering this switch is because i think it'd provide a little more diversity as far as skeletons go (occupations, source of wealth, types of connections), more diversity and flexibility when it comes to events, and could allow things to get a little messier scandal-wise. we'd likely still promote as a krp regardless of this switch, as we've already begun promoting in the tags and asked you all for feedback (and are most comfortable in this community), but we're still not entirely sure on the location change. if you have a preference, feel free to let us know in our askbox or the poll below! we’ll take the poll into consideration as we work on the remaining skeletons.
hope this is still happening because i'm really excited for it!
hey nonnie! don’t worry, it’s still happening—preparations are under way and we’re hoping to have things finalized soon, but i am an annoying perfectionist (and also a student 🫠), so we still need a little more time to finish things! i don’t want to give an expected date until we have some more things checked off the to-do-list, but we’ll share updates and our projected opening time when things are closer to being finished, so keep your eyes peeled for that. thank you sm for your interest! i’m excited to share this messy little world with all of you! 💚
can we get a little more info on the premise? maybe some skele examples?
hey nonnie! of course, let me give you a little rundown for both:
our premise revolves around a group of six friends, who all come from wealthy, influential families. our core six are loosely inspired by the ‘non-judging breakfast club’ from gossip girl—with a fun moniker of their own, of course. the other eight to ten skeletons are a mix of people who either went to school with the core six, or are people they met along the way, like colleagues, romantic partners, etc.
we've separated the muses like this because we think the premise is more realistic this way, and allows us to get more creative with the skeletons offered. for example, if every single muse was a part of this one friend group from day one, there'd be a lot of repetition in the kind of connections and plots you could explore, and it'd be harder to fit in skeletons/muses who maybe don't come from wealthy families. so, the core six were the original target of our gossip blog, which went silent after the core six essentially shut it down with the threat of a hefty lawsuit. years later, the core six have remained friends and have started settling into their own careers, or settling down with romantic partners. they have more to lose than they did back in high school, and that's when our gossip blog makes their reappearance—and starts targeting the people around them, too. we really want to focus on the idea of wealthy, influential friends doing horrible, scandalous things to each other and the people around them, and what they'd be willing to do to keep those things a secret.
our skeletons, as previously mentioned, will indicate your muse's source of wealth and the overall reputation of their family. each skeleton will include 1-2 connections within it, but we've kept the details of these connections vague enough to allow you full creative freedom when plotting. some skeletons may have current occupations listed, while others will allow you to choose your muse's career path. some of the core six skeletons may include a "secret" that was previously revealed by the gossip blog, such as something they did to backstab another member of the core six. but again, most of the skeletons are kept vague enough to allow you to craft your muse however you see fit. i hope this was insightful! 💚
how diverse will the fcs or skeletons be? will it be strictly k-ent fcs involved or are *some* western fcs encouraged depending on the skeleton and proper integration to the plot?
hi nonnie! thank you for your question. faceclaims from around the globe will be accepted as long as they aren't considered a "banned" faceclaim, which more or less would be anyone has committed any violent, sexual, or hate crimes, deceased faceclaims, anyone who has asked to not be used as faceclaim, or anyone who is widely considered to be especially problematic. so, western faceclaims are more than welcome as long as they wouldn't be considered a "banned" fc!
to promote diversity and a somewhat balanced ratio, some skeletons will be gender-locked and all skeletons will be given an age range to follow, which would look something like this: 24 - 27, 25 - 28, 26 - 29, etc.
the only time a skeleton would be locked to a specific ethnicity is if their ethnicity is reflected within their skeleton in some way, but there won't be many of those since we want people to bring in whatever faceclaim they're most comfortable with! some skeletons may have a family name attached, but your muse is always welcome to be an adopted child, and the family name can always be changed if necessary.
in general, the skeletons have been designed to promote diversity within family dynamics, family reputations, and sources of wealth, since we know premises like this can sometimes result in a lot of similar muses or backstories and the more diverse the skeletons are, the better for ic drama and friction—but outside of that, the skeletons are vague enough that it shouldn't limit your creative freedom in any way, nor should it impact your fc choices in any way!
i hope that answers your question! let me know if you'd like any further details on our skeletons 💚
can you share what a selective acceptance would look like?
hey nonnie! i can definitely give you a rough draft of what a potential selective acceptance would look like! i'll also be including a poll underneath the cut, if you'd like to vote on whether or not we should proceed with this kind of acceptance process.
first and foremost, we wouldn't be judging anyone's writing if we choose to do a selective application process. instead, we'd be looking for a clear understanding of the chosen skeleton, as well as a clear and passionate vision for your muse, their connections, and how they'd fit into the world we've created. since this is a limited skeleton roleplay and one that will likely always have a fairly small mun cap, we want to be sure the writers we are accepting are passionate about our world and the muses they're bringing us. passionate admins and members are the key to long-lasting rps!
faceclaim reserves will be first-come, first-serve. once a faceclaim has been reserved, the writer will have 72 hours to submit an application with their reserved faceclaim. once 72 hours pass, the faceclaim reserve will expire, and another applicant can reserve that faceclaim. we will allow faceclaim reserves to be extended, but the number of times they can be extended is still undecided.
we were considering allowing an unlimited number of apps for each skeleton, but that could result in with some skeletons receiving the majority of applications while others receive 0. to avoid this, we're considering capping each skeleton at 3-5 "reserves." if a writer fails to submit their app in time, another writer can "reserve" that spot.
applicants who do not get accepted for their first choice skeleton can opt to be notified if the skeleton gets reopened in the future. we're likely looking at opening with 14-16 skeletons with 2 spots reserved for the admins. if we received 15-18 applications total for our 12-14 open spots, we'd likely offer to create an additional skeleton for these muns or allow them to bring in "ocs", as we'd be comfortable expanding our opening mun cap by 2-4 extra slots, in the event that we end up with too many good applications.
we think that there are a few nice benefits to a selective acceptance process like this. these benefits are:
this helps us avoid "reserve-hogging" when it comes to popular skeletons. i've adminned many rps where i've seen people attempt to re-reserve popular skeletons and faceclaims under new aliases or new passwords, and have seen a lot of writers who will extend their reserve the maximum amount of times and still end up not submitting an application. this can discourage other writers from applying if they keep seeing their desired skeleton or fc being reserved again and again. this process makes it so applicants don't have to wait for reserves to expire to submit an application, and it also means you won't lose your chance if you're asleep or at work when the skeleton you've been waiting on finally reopens.
on the topic of schedules and obligations, this process will hopefully be a little more accommodating to everyone's timezones and schedules. with a limited skeleton cap like this, the reserves will fill up quickly and many will miss the chance to reserve/apply—allowing multiple apps for a skeleton will at least give everyone a chance at the skeleton of their choice.
limited cap rps filling up so quickly is also an unfortunate reason they sometimes don't last, if the first batch of applicants end up being less dedicated members—being able to be a bit selective with our process and looking for passionate members will hopefully help us build a tight-knit, dedicated environment. and allowing anyone who isn't immediately accepted to create an oc or offer to craft a new skeleton for them will ensure no one is ever permanently "turned away" from the rp
being able to apply for multiple skeletons will be great for anyone like me who suffers from choice paralysis! you don't have to choose if you're torn between multiple options—you can just apply for multiple!
but we do understand an acceptance process like this is uncommon, and we can see why it could deter some writers from sending in an application, so we're still considering if we'd like to proceed with this process. i'll attach a poll below to see how many people are open to this kind of process, but it'd be appreciated if you could send in an ask with your thoughts, concerns, and ideas, as well—especially if you do vote no. we'd love to hear your concerns!
how would you feel about a selective acceptance process?
When will you be launching? Just don’t wanna miss it!
hi nonnie! thank you so much for your interest. ideally, we'd like to launch before or around valentine's day since we'd love to have a fun little event to kickstart things, but we do still have to make some decisions on certain things within the premise, as well as some other mechanics (like the acceptance process, as mentioned in a previous ask, and if we'll be locking our skeletons to specific genders or ages—we'd love your opinions if you have any!), so that may stall things. but we do have most of our skeletons written already, so hopefully we can launch by our desired date! we'll make a post prior to launching our main, so keep your eyes open for that!
If it's limited skeleton, will muns only be allowed one muse?
hey nonnie! yes, muns will be limited to one muse at the beginning of the roleplay. once all of our skeletons are filled and everyone settles into the roleplay, we'll allow additional muses to be picked up—these will either be new skeletons written by us or we'll allow writers to bring in "original characters" that make up the world around the friend group our skeletons are a part of (such as employees in the family business(es), etc).
are you completely married to this being on tumblr? I ask because krp's on tumblr don't really pop off or last these days and it makes me sad. I love the idea and the premise, but the platform gives me pause. i'm just a little exhausted from investing so much time into developing a muse for a tumblr krp and it not surviving more than a few weeks. I love tumblr, but the krp community doesn't seem to as much these days.
hey nonnie! thank you for your interest. if i can speak honestly, i am pretty married to hosting this group on tumblr for a few reasons, which i'll explain below. i'm assuming that the alternative platform you're suggesting or hoping for is discord, but please correct me if i'm wrong!
we anticipate that the application process will be fairly in-depth with about 3-4 sections to fill out (2 "fill-in-the-blanks" sections, 2 freeform writing sections. the freeform writing sections won't need to meet a strict word requirement, but there'll still be 2 of them to fill in). additionally, the application process may not be first-come, first-serve—this is something we're not 100% decided on and are open to feedback on this, but because we will have a limited amount of skeletons, we think being a little selective with applications could be beneficial to the longevity of the group (disclaimer: we wouldn't be judging anyone's writing, but making sure a mun understands their skeleton fully and has a clear vision for their muse and skeleton. faceclaim reserves would probably be first-come, first-serve, but multiple people could potentially apply for a skeleton). while i know plenty of discord rps have had lengthy applications, i do find they tend to lean more "semi-appless" and are almost always first-come, first-serve. i worry that our application process (and potential selective acceptances) may deter a lot of the discord krp community, but i'm open to hearing from discord krpers if they feel differently! i'm also open to hearing what people think about a potential "selective" application process since we're still unsure if we want to proceed with it.
discord as a platform poses a few limitations when it comes to tasks and longer threads because of its file size limit, character limit, tupperbox shenanigans, no askboxes, and etc. the premise of this roleplay is pretty reliant on muns completing many threads, as well as character development tasks, which means those limitations make things a lot less seamless for both the admin team and our future writers. i know that we can work around those issues by either creating a "hybrid" roleplay or by experimenting with bots and new channel set-ups, but it still may make things harder for everyone involved. the lack of askboxes, in particular, would pose an issue for the admin team since our gossip blog will be interactive—we'd be sending out things via askbox, as well as accepting asks from our writers on our gossip blog. again, i'm sure there could be a workaround there, but it still won't be 100% seamless.
we actually think discord would be great for the ability to create sns and text channels, but from our experience as both admins and muns in discord groups, sometimes the text channels take over and distract from actual writing, which would be a bit troublesome for us as our muns writing lots of paras will be pretty important for the interactive gossip blog. of course, we know there are a lot of dedicated writers on discord too, but we are a bit worried about people being overwhelmed with the rapidfire texts discord groups usually have.
i do want to repeat that this rp will have 10 to 14 limited skeletons available, so it will always be on the smaller side, which gives me hope that we can create a tight-knit, dedicated community on whichever platform it ends up on. a lot of roleplays on both platforms burn out quickly with a lot of members, since people struggle to plot with everyone and admins can get overwhelmed with so many writers to "manage." but since we're aiming to keep things small, we're hopeful that we'll attract dedicated writers looking for a tight-knit, long-lasting community.
in any case, we'd love to hear from everyone else on their platform preference and their thoughts on any of the concerns and ideas we've mentioned, so please feel free to send in an ask if you have any thoughts or opinions. we may throw up a poll for the platform if there does seem to be more interest in discord over tumblr or if there's any interest in a hybrid environment, but we hope our answer is reassuring enough and that, if we do stick with tumblr as the platform, you'll still join us!
hey tags! consider this a very informal interest check... would anyone be interested in a limited skeleton, literate roleplay loosely inspired by themes from dramas like sky castle, the heirs, the penthouse, and celebrity (and a dash of gossip girl)? since this isn't a formal interest check and there's still a lot of planning i have to do, i don't want to go into too many details surrounding the exact premise but here are things i'm 99.9% sure will be present in the rp:
limited skeletons, somewhere between 12 to 14
potential room for additional characters beyond that, but would be reserved for current members since i want this to be a small and intimate rp
mature content and lots of in-character drama, so the age range will be at least 24/25+
literate
skeletons will be family-based with info on source of wealth, public reputation. there may be some subplots or additional connections available (like industry rivals, colleagues, publicly-known relationships or exes), but the muse's personality and additional connections will be utp. some skeletons will have siblings, stepsiblings, while some will be only children—it's more or less just to keep some diversity when it comes to wealth, occupations, etc
types of skeletons would probably be something like... future heirs to a family business (like media or entertainment companies, fashion houses, hotels, law firms, you name it) and their employees, as well as influencers, models, athletes, maybe actors
interactive gossip blog or antagonist that will report on the muses' intimate affairs and bad behaviors, or just antagonize them in some way
character-driven, drama-driven... ideally this will be the perfect haven for people who want to really dive into complex, morally gray muses, family pressure and expectations, and all the mess that comes with them
if anyone would be interested... lmk via the ask or messages or just vote on the below poll. opinions on the above ideas, such as careers and sources of wealth you'd like to see or the age range you'd prefer, would be suuuuper appreciated and if u have any questions, feel free to send in an ask. thanks for reading 💚
