Misturadinha. A small bastard girl, in Portuguese, sort of. I was inspired to make this drum after watching a samba troupe do their thing on the Southbank one sunny afternoon here in Melbourne.
The original concept was to build a hybrid between (betwixt?) a Caixa and a Pandeiro. The resulting 24 ply 12x4.5 mahogany shelled snare drum has 8 tambourine jingles embedded in the shell, two snare throws (to really dial in a easily swap between two completely different snare sounds), single flanged hoops and a 30 strand set of wires. Easily one of my most interesting builds to date, and one I am especially proud of.
