GSM and CDMA versions of the iPhones
iPhones that use the GSM network (T-MOBILE,AT&T) are able to multitask in a way that their CDMA counter parts (SPRINT,VERIZON) cannot do. The GSM versions allow you to talk on the phone and use the web at the same time. Or any app that needs a internet connection as well. Other than that the iPhones still operate the exact same manner.
Home button on the iPhone
All iPhones have the home button which is located at the bottom center of the handset. Its function when pressed is to take you back to the main screen. For example lets say your on an app and you wish to exit, but do not know how. Simply press the home button and you will be returned to the home screen. If you are on a call and wish to use another app while on the call.. hit the home button and select which app you wish to use. Please note however this ability can only work on GSM versions of the IPhones. (which I will cover on another post)
How to connect to a Wi-FI network on your iPhone.
In this post, I will show you how to connect to a Wi-Fi network on your iPhone. This is assuming you are running IOS 7 or greater (though the steps in IOS 6 are similar). It goes as follows, Settings>Wi-Fi. Make sure to have the toggle switch to the right side. If done correctly you should notice a green color to its left. As you look down, your iPhone will show you a list of available networks to connect to. You will notice the name of the network and a signal strength indicator. If the network is secured a lock symbol will appear and you will need a Wep key to get in. If you wish to connect to your Wi-Fi network at home (providing you have one). You will find the Wep key at the bottom of your router, simply put in the number and save it. From that point forward your iPhone will remember this code and automatically connect to it every time it is in range. On public Wi-Fi networks you will not need a Wep key. However ,when you press on that network, either a "sign in" page will appear asking u to press an "agree button" to login. Or it will simply let you in. Once connected the Wi-Fi network will override your cellular network until you either leave the range of the Wi-Fi network or disconnect from it.
Basic iPhone features
On the iPhone, You will notice a switch that will be on your left side (while you’re holding the phone). It will be located on the top left hand side of the handset. When it is in the down position your phone will be on silent. Something to note, when you enable this feature, the phone will remain on "silent mode" until you toggle the switch back up... in addition people will sometimes mistakenly have the switch in the off position and then wondering why the phone will not ring nor vibrate. So, if you notice your phone has stopped ringing and vibrating always look for this switch first to rule out any other setting changes. FYI, if you notice a small orange bar on the left side that means it is in the down position.
