My fiance and I are doing this juice “cleanse” thing for 3 days. We are having a protein shake in the afternoon in addition to the juice, but nothing solid. We do have a rule that if we’re hungry to the point where we feel like we aren’t functioning well, we’re gonna eat solid food. We both have responsibilities throughout the day and we can’t be distracted by hunger pains. This is day 2 and I’m.. Over it, but pushing through. I’m not as hungry as I thought I would be. I made each juice with our needs in mind so none of the juices lack nutrition and volume. The main physical issue is that I have a headache, but I think that’s mostly because I didn’t drink enough water yesterday. So today, I’m trying to focus on drinking more water.
I’m not a big fan of “cleanses” and tbh, I hate even calling it that. It’s not a cleanse, it’s just a little reset for our tummies. We both haven’t been good to our bodies for the past few months and we felt we needed something more extreme to start reversing some of the issues we’re dealing with.
This is really interesting for me because of my struggles with binge eating and restricting. I’m finding that I’m actually getting emotional about not having food. Last night, it was hard for me to fall asleep because I always snack before bed (horrible habit, but 🍃🍃) and I had to tell myself I’d eat in the morning just to calm my anxiety. But in the morning, that feeling had passed and I was fine with just having a juice. But I don’t feel like I do when I’m restricting. When I’m restricting, I feel powerful if I don’t let myself eat. Right now, I just feel like I’m making a choice for my long term benefit even if it’s uncomfortable right now. I feel neutral about my ability to do this. So that’s actually really good and encouraging because food SHOULD be neutral. And if you need to make a temporary uncomfortable change to your diet in order to alleviate bigger and more permanent discomfort, you should be able to do that.
I’m just ready to be done with this tbh! I miss chewing stuff.
