One of the reasons I'm so fond of Wally I think is how he really captures the kid with medical trauma "my body is doing something mysterious and horrifying and feels like it doesn't really belong to me and betrays me and I have no idea what counts as normal" experience.
The gleeful face of a man rushing home to get pegged by his wife so violently he blacks out
creature Wally and Linda please?
Here you go
While I am at it here’s my favourite canon true loves who started off as a porcupine man on a self destructive depressive spiral, and a news reporter possessed by the ghost of an Irish bard who turned out to be an alien mechanical lifeform (who has some weird sexual chemistry with Wally, and I will be touching upon that very soon. The nicher the yaoi the better.)
This is my shadow banned side blog and I’ll get as niche as I want
Having free will means I can ship Wally with his lawyer, Ben Hayes, who showed up in the 1987 flash run. It’s rlly funny how most returning side characters in the messner-loebs era were random, non powered ppl who Wally met and just stuck around, like Ben Hayes or Mason Trollbridge. All of them thought Wally was a cringe fail idiot but they couldn’t get enough of his dumb ass
Based on this page from the flash 1987:
look no further than linda's decision to enter medical school as a future pediatrician rather than continue on with her incredibly successful career as a tv personality when wally became "prosecuted" by the news as the end of days for her character because truly. honestly. why on earth would she ever do that. her primary motivation from the VERY START has been to provide comfort to the people who watch her. to tell the truth and be sincere and have the common man be reassured by the combination of those traits. and she does so with frequent disregard to the superheroes around her because her morals and ideals have never been dictated by what wally and his extended circle would ideally want to be kept private from the average citizen! that's not linda fucking park! she's going to tell the truth because she sincerely believes that its existence helps people more effectively than it ever would as a secret! and yes she would and has been upset whenever wally's public perception takes a hit because he's her partner and she loves him, but ultimately, that is not her problem and it has no business to so drastically affect her passion for her career. tldr; she would NOT fucking quit her job for WALLY.
Guh the idea of a Linda-Barry interaction haunts my every waking moment. Why hasn't anyone done anything with this???
women don't have interiority and if they do it's actually about men. but for an actual answer i think that at least part of the reason why is because linda has become steadily more dressed down as time has gone by to the point where her rationale to act the way that she does have in essence been boiled down to: well what do women do? exist for men. be maternal. and since she used to have a personality she can also NAG. but! 👆 only sometimes. because feminism. and domesticity slop. and now that linda has spent the last two decades with her main function in the narrative reduced to "stay-at-home mom :DDD" i truly believe that a lot of writers don't feel the need to examine how she would react to a certain event / scenario outside of perfunctory shock or horror or rage etc etc even when it wouldn't be how linda herself would actually react.
Wally needs to be the stay at home dad and Linda needs to return to being a cut throat tv journalist who routinely humiliates men on air. Let my girl work she's a career girl!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you tell that I’ve been re reading Wally’s early run as the flash lmao
Wally becoming low key radicalised by Hartley via gay sex.jpg
“Are you man enough?” but it’s Wally West being told by the other Titans, by Dick and Donna two of the people he trusts and cares for most in the world, to grow up and get over it after he confesses to them that he feels like a puppet in his own mind thanks to the love spell Rachel put on him. The love spell that is never removed and he just has to live with. Is this anything
Oh my God guys. Ryan North is on the Flash! I repeat, Ryan North is on the Flash!! I cannot believe this!! He's fr a perfect writer for this book!! And Gavin Guidry is on art! See the solicit and covers below. It's coming March 25th.
Wally West: father, husband, and fastest man alive. And now with DC K.O. in the rearview mirror, Wally can finally relax and live his best life. Or can he? Because an awful lot of people are suddenly relying on the Flash to save them— and intentionally putting themselves in danger to ensure that he does! Something sinister is happening behind the scenes…and Wally is right in the crosshairs. Also in this issue: shenanigans! Science! And the debut of an all-new all-star creative team for the Scarlet Speedster!
