âI thought that smell was rancid latte. Turns out itâs just you.â
hazindiezâ:
âYou most certainly have.â
âThe car downstairs better be prepared for us. I donât want to sit long enough to have this dress wrinkle.â
hazindiezâ:
âWhatever you want, babe,â Jake replied, fixing his hair in the mirror.
âIâve truly outdone myself,â Clarke gave a twirl to show off the final outfit.
hazindiezâ:
âGo get changed, we have to leave soon.â
Clarke was off towards her room already, curls bouncing behind her shoulders.
âWith the shoes you gifted me for Christmas?â
hazindiezâ:
âGo one then,â he held the bag containing the white dress out to her.
Like Alexander McQueenâs creations always had on the runway and in the catalogues, the dainty dress stole Clarkeâs breath.
âYou know me so well, Jakey.â
hazindiezâ:
âTheyâre just not going to go with the dress I got you,â Jake replied, holding up the garment bag.
She felt silly for snapping, the name on the garment bag coming into view, âIf that isnât the most beautiful bag Iâve ever seen, Iâm dying to see whatâs inside.â
hazindiezâ:
âYou might want to change those shoes.â
âWhat in the world did you just say to me?â
hazindiezâ:
âBaxterâs nice to everybody.â
âBut Iâm sure itâll be okay.â
hazindiezâ:
âMaybe if this oneâs nicer to him.â
âIf heâs nicer to her. Weâll be able to train her from infant age on if theyâre around each other.â
hazindiezâ:
âHeâs only just gotten used to McQueen.â
âI have to wait another almost two years?â
hazindiezâ:
âFine by me.â
âMerry Christmas, by the way. To you and Baxter. He has a new friend.â
hazindiezâ:
âWhat?â
âNothing at all. Iâm never leaving you.â
hazindiezâ:
âWhy donât they just leave them, then?â
âOh, honey. Donât be so naive.â
hazindiezâ:
âNo offence, babe, but the women you work for are crazy.â
âBecause the men in their lives make them that way, duh.â
hazindiezâ:
Jake waved the waiter over, ordering the bottle along with some appetisers. âHow was school today?â
âNot as interesting as work ended up being. I overheard hear that Mrs. Lowellâs have an affair. Another one. I had to adopt a kitten from her to keep from being fired. Not as though thatâs a loss.â
hazindiezâ:
âHow about ââ Jake scanned the menu, âWe start with a bottle of 2003 Moet.â
âItâs a start.â
hazindiezâ:
âI love you too,â Jake lifted her hand, pressing a kiss to her knuckles. âAnd thank you.â
âYouâre welcome. Youâll find a way to pay me back.â
