and after three great years, the resident-sean-expert finally met the real Sean expert (Anthony Atamanuik) :

blurry ass picture because I don't know how to take photos and my hand was shaking with panic

besides, he really liked my drawing of his dog Lulu and the tarot deck; he even followed me on Instagram and sent me the cutest messages ever 🤍

context :

after months of working on the deck and a divine alignment of the stars that allowed me to see my favorite actor perform, I was finally able to meet him in person !

It wasn't easy-- first of all, I got sick during the trip, and I was afraid he would refuse to talk to me because he's a hypochondriac

what's more, I couldn't see him before the show, so my last hope was after the show. The receptionist told me that the actors usually leave through the main door, so I could hope to meet him if I waited outside, but I was afraid he would take the back door and I wouldn't be able to see him

I waited outside for five minutes, extremely stressed, praying silently and staring at the door like a madman-- and miraculously, he went out the front door

I rushed over to him, holding out the book and saying in broken English : "I know you hate sick people, but can I have your autograph-- I'll be quick."

he kindly did it for me, and then I gave him the drawing of Lulu with the tarot deck; he thanked me several times, and we parted ways because it was clear he was in a hurry, another actor (I think) was also waiting for him in front of the UCB

he didn't open the deck in front of me, but I was surprised about fifteen minutes later to see the most adorable Instagram post :))

so that's the story-- It was a very brief interaction, but one that means a lot to me. I'm happy to have fulfilled one of my dreams last night !

My observations of Manhattan after two days in NYC :

-I've come across I don't know how many dogs that look like Labradoodle.

-I feel like the NYC Marathon is almost a sacred day. There was a great atmosphere in the streets and everyone was complimenting each other.

-US fire truck and ambulance sirens are the most terrifying sound I've ever heard in my life. It makes me feel like it's the end of the world and my last hour has come. It feels like a purge is going to be implemented every 15mins istg.

-I LOVE Manhattan's architecture, and thank goodness all the roads are parallel—it's literally impossible to get lost.

-I didn't understand why so many people were still dressed up for Halloween when it was November 1st. Is it celebrated over two days here ?

-Apparently people here say “Excusez-Moi” instead of “Excuse-Me” with perfect pronunciation, so I thought they were French lol

-Bus 159 goes so fast I thought I was going to die.

-I don't know if I'm the only human being who suffers from this weird ass syndrome : I have no problem listening to the American accent in TV shows and podcasts, but for some unknown reason, I can't STAND it in real life. It's the most annoying accent I've ever heard in my life, and it makes me want to punch the people talking around me deadass.

It's as if the entire country decided to adopt an accent as unbearable as the Paris accent.

Actually, I think what makes it insufferable to me : not much articulation (it's like marshmallow in your mouth)—So I thought I understood American English well (but it turns out I don't understand shit)

Very nasal and it sounds super fake. In fact, you get the impression they're in a TV series, but no, that's really how people express themselves lmao

I precise, I talkshit the American accent but I never said that the French accent is pleasant to listen to lol

-I saw a gray, boxy Tesla in the wild, it was hideous.
