Love: An Anchor in Uncertainty
While other forces can provide stability and meaning, love holds a unique position in navigating life's uncharted waters.
When surrounded by the unknown, love offers a safe haven. Knowing you are loved and cared for, whether by family, friends, or a romantic partner, can ground you and offer a sense of belonging.
Love can inspire courage and determination, giving you the strength to weather even the most difficult storms. The knowledge that someone believes in you and is there for you can be a powerful motivator in challenging times.
Love fuels a belief in a better future. It encourages us to see beyond the present difficulties and hold onto the hope for a brighter tomorrow, especially when the future feels uncertain.
When faced with doubts and anxieties, love can remind us of our worth and provide a sense of self-compassion. Knowing that someone loves us unconditionally, flaws and all, can help us accept ourselves and navigate uncertainty with greater self-awareness.
When faced with conflict or misunderstanding, love encourages forgiveness and a willingness to work towards solutions. This ability to maintain connection even through challenges can be a powerful anchor in times of uncertainty.
While love holds immense power in grounding us during uncertain times, it's not the only source of stability. Other forces can play a vital role:
Faith and spirituality: For many, faith in a higher power or adherence to a spiritual belief system can offer a sense of calm and purpose in the face of uncertainty.
Self-belief and inner strength: Cultivating self-confidence and resilience can empower us to navigate life's challenges without relying solely on external sources of support.
Purpose and meaning: Having a sense of purpose and meaning in life can provide a sense of direction and motivation, even when faced with the unknown.
Community and belonging: Being part of a supportive community can offer a sense of belonging and connection, which can be a source of strength and stability in uncertain times.
Ultimately, the most effective way to navigate uncertainty involves a combination of various anchors in our lives. Love undoubtedly holds a powerful position, offering connection, strength, and hope. However, recognizing and nurturing other sources of stability, such as faith, inner strength, purpose, and community, can further equip us to face life's uncharted territory with courage and resilience.
what are your likes and dislikes ?
Things I Adore:
eating dark bitter chocolate and pair it with black bitter coffee; wearing big rings with fingerless gloves; (learning) languages — ancient greek, Latin, Farsi, Italian, Sicilian, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Ladino, Hebrew —; knitwear; jet black hair; weird shapes; the scent of patchouli paired with chocolate; horror silent films; things that are obscure, austere, ugly and odd; poisonous flowers; notes of absinthe, ink, or milk in perfumes; black blue lipstick that clashes with my skin tone; playing chess while listening to my favourite audiobooks; Russian literature; Arabic poetry; the melancholy and coldness of early winter mornings; candies — black licorice, nougat, anise candies and caramels —; the writings of Edgar Allan Poe; the intensity with which I feel my emotions; dark brown/black eyes and big noses; my simple desire for privacy; german expressionism; making my own clothes; wearing ties when there's no need for it; dark washed out green walls; having an altar for myself as a form of self-care like some sort of sanctuary; stained glass windows; eloquence and quick wit; taking a bath as a form of emotional and spiritual reset; intimacy; religious references in art; gothic architecture; the taboo; expanding my creativity; close-ups in films — for i love to focus on details whether it be a facial expression, the texture of someone's skin, a pair of hands desperately grasping —; the sound of the oud; salted popcorn; grieving the last book i read; ... and frankly, plenty of other things!
Things I Dislike / Don't Particularly Care For:
the pink-purple colour of heliotrope; talking about myself; anhedonia; the scent of lily of the valley; sparkling drinks; white/beige minimalist homes; large brand logos on clothes; action films; pessimism disguised as realism; feeling disconnected from myself; cruelty disguised as a joke; impatience; strawberries; catering to an 'aesthetic'; la choucroute (this is a french dish but I don't know how to translate that in english); young adult fiction; insects that crawl like worms and maggots; being told what to do or how to live my life; ... and a few others probably, I admit I don't know myself very well on that part.
who are you when you are not watching tv or movies? when you aren't playing video games or reading a book or fanfiction or listening to music or whatever other kind of media that you engage with? who are you when your mind isn't in another world or story, when you are forced to sit with yourself and the only experience you have is your own sensorial life? can you define yourself outside of what you consume? who is that person? do you like them? can you bear it? can you bear it?
these are value-neutral questions and i am not inherently implying anything in them. what you read into it is for you to decide. consider why your immediate reaction to being asked who you are outside of the tv shows you watch is to become defensive or angry or uncomfortable. what might that say about how you feel about your life? why are you reading judgement into my questions? your answers are not for me, they are for you. do with them what you wish.
will i always be this angry?
Put it into passion, into better days, dont let it consume you, instead gift it with golden rays.
Sometimes the anger was a sadness left alone for far too long. A pain that festered deeply and you don't know what on earth's gone wrong, its a lonely song.
But not for long, pain makes way for peace and the cycle then repeats.
Just remember not to hold on too tightly to either and only stretch and reach.
i don't invent, i don't yearn. i manage, i cope.

ok hear me out - what if all of life is magic and we just forget? what if your heartbreak is a gift just as much as your love? imagine that you’re more than a human being and we’re here for just a little while, and everything feels like so much because we can’t contain it in our little human bodies, so we have two choices in living: numb out or dive deep. and if you dive deep, you end up creating in some way or another. all of humanity has coped with being human by creating music and art and movies, by witnessing the gift of nature, by falling in love (and then making art about it). maybe it is better if it’s too much. what if we can crack ourselves open even more? or just make a little promise to ourselves to give in to this experience each morning? see what it has to offer you.
