padishah ganondorf dragmire of the legend of zelda franchise, vaguely tears of the kingdom adjacent, but drawing from all iterations when it really comes down to it .
a study of [ . . . ] divinity and kingship in its purest form, endless lifetimes, forging your own soul, breaking the cycle.

hey guys, i'm percy i loop in and out of indie rpc. most of my time is spent in groups, i write in isolaradiale, but i digress.
i do a lot of research for worldbuilding, and i do art here and there. i also work as a nurse 40 hrs a week and i also have like 50 projects at any given time, so i am NOT fast.
any art on this blog tagged with whats my art tag is my art! please don't take it!
this blog is 18+, triggers are tagged #trigger
i used to have a fancier rules section but honestly while i reformat it and figure out how to word things, this will have to do!
mutuals are free to ask me for my discord because i am more accessible there!
i was going to write an entire post about vārtra and hylia but none of my thoughts are coherent so all i have right now is death god that was large enough to use mountains as a throne holding little winged goddess in his hands
crying their dynamic is tragic they were always doomed i rotate them in my head a lot
so character design is my passion and i said "when i said i was totk adjacent i meant i smash gan designs together and add some things for My Vision" so here's this if anyone was wondering what i mean
so you know how i said i would write about the gods, well here we go besties. while not drawn, this post will also cover hylia and the goddess of the sands.
ok, so i know i have mentioned this in previous posts, but i don't want to go searching for those posts right now- back in the age of creation, before the world was properly formed, the old gods had to pick domains in a similar manner as to how the greek gods picked domains. most notable of the old gods were vārtra and the triple goddess. deeming it to be unfair for one god to have all of the domains, the triple goddess split herself into three aspects: din, naryu, and farore. vārtra did not need to do this, because he is a singular entity- which will also be discussed later.
eldest of the goddesses, din, picked fire as her domain. secondarily she ended up being the creator of the base of the world, so she is also associated with mountains. she manifests as a being made of fire. the gorons favored din, saying they would think she would fit in well among their people- powerful and suited for the rough mountains and boiling lava.
second of the goddesses, naryu, picked the oceans as her domain. she is said to have taken the forms of the very waves themselves, although some have sworn she could've been a selkie. the zora like to think that naryu would blend in well among their people- elegant and blessed with a long life to cultivate wisdom.
youngest of the goddesses, farore, chose the winds as her domain. she is said to have been a unifying force in the creation of the world, her abilities aiding her sisters in their own- wind in the sails, the open space that would not smother a flame. while the youngest of the three, farore's abilities also were able to keep her sisters in line, for where she could give them further fuel, she could take it away. braving the possibility of her sisters' wrath. the rito say that farore would have loved to live among them.
after the triple goddess, now known as the trinity goddesses ⎛ and later, golden goddesses ⎠ , vārtra chose his own domain. vārtra chose death and the underworld. his reasoning? all things would eventually die. it gave him power over other things because it makes him inevitable. and the trinity goddesses said 'ok, sure' because they were so certain vārtra would stay in his lane. vārtra was favored by the gerudo, who saw him as clever, powerful, and patient. an unstoppable force that would one day welcome all things to his open arms. and vārtra, when he decided NOT to stay in his lane, picked the gerudo to incarnate into. forever. some gods would've alternated but vārtra isn't one of those gods.
the goddess of the sands is her own entity, much like tiamat, she is a primordial goddess associated with fertility, and whatever forms that comes in. which includes calling the rains for land to bear fruit, which is why the gerudo also have temples to her because it's part of getting as good a harvest as they can. granted, back in the day the valley wasn't absolutely decimated, but that's a post for another time.
now, what's going on with hylia?
hylia is like persephone. a younger goddess, some legends say she is the daughter of the triple goddess. and much like persephone, she drew the attention of the god of death. and this is why vārtra stopped staying in his lane. some legends say that hylia returned vartra's affection and some say otherwise. all legends blame vārtra for hylia's death. hylia's blood was said to seep into the earth and then hyrule was built around the place where she died. some time rather soon after her death, the people began to call vārtra 'hylia's demise' which later just ended up 'demise' and they forgot he was a deity and instead saw him as a demon.
fun fact, deities seem to just VANISH instead of 'dying' in a method that would send them to vartra's kingdom, which is why he didn't just go back to staying in his lane. he would've, if hylia had been confined to the kingdom of the dead, but clearly that's not what happened.
and not too long after that as well, the golden goddesses decided to peace out from the world and placed their divinity in the triforce. din, who had no qualms with vārtra, entrusted him with her domain of power, which is why ganondorf is always the bearer of power- because he's also vartra's incarnation. naryu, who loved hylia dearly, bestowed wisdom upon the royal family of hyrule, and somehow it just targets 'zelda' every time. farore, staying on brand with keeping her sisters in line, sent courage out into the world to pick a worthy avatar, which is why there's no real pattern there. link is always a third party who just gets dragged into things.
tl;dr, divinity is messy. gods are messy. imagine how much easier it would've been if they all just behaved and stayed in their lanes (mostly vārtra)
before work i am going rock climbing with co workers. mutuals feel free to add me on discord since tumblr im ... isn't reliable in notifying me of anything

i come up as percy jackson & the olympians! let me know who you are when you add me
1 am still trying to sleep, anyway gotta say anyone who remembers hmrtia gets a tumblr senior discount ( remember when i could functionally write original characters .... good times ) you guys are the real ones
tomorrow if i have time i will start doing art for this blog
so yeah ok i know totk says "gan eats a sacred stone and turns into a dragon" but i offer you this:
first off, ganondorf is so prideful in his OWN power, there's a 0% chance he would actually want to rely on any other power but his own. also he clearly hates rauru why would he use a zonai artifact like lmao he'd rather die than do that.
second, ganondorf is a seasoned warrior. and also this isn't the first rodeo he's had with the hero and it won't be his last! he knows from experience what he SHOULDN'T do, and one of those things is Stop Thinking, which is literally the biggest risk of draconification. its on the label, the risk is Losing Your Mind, and how can he strategize if he isn't THINKING! so another reason he wouldn't just eat a magic rock.
third, by nature of transforming into anything else, it still means that you're open to being hit by attacks. if the entire issue is link hitting him with the master sword or something, then the most logical answer is to make it so that link CAN'T do that- and what better way to showboat than using your OWN overpowered magic god bullshit to create the shape of Some Animal (lets go with a chimera blend of a dragon, a lion, and a boar for the Classic Vibes!) AROUND your body! and if what the calamity is shown to do is any indication, that would be almost impossible to break through as a defense without massive protagonist armor. which link has, but i digress.
what i mean is yeah, ganondorf can intentionally become ganon, and the plot can stay sorta adjacent there, but my god if he's going to turn himself into ganon he's going to do it like the stupid showboat he is and i accept nothing less.
hello, does ganondorf have a favourite dessert from home and does it differ from the usual favourites that would be picked by others? if not, talk to me about gerudo alcohol and their uses outside of recreation, if any!
more unhinged and unfiltered gerudo facts, as brought to you by percival.
why not answer both?
ok well the first one is really a question of 'what incarnation are we talking about'- as mentioned in a previous post about the reincarnation cycle of the padishah, 'gonondorf' is more of a concept and less of a name, although sometimes it is a name ⎛ the padishah before the current ganondorf was named nahid, she is an ancestor of urbosa ⎠ , and with this comes the fact that literally the only things that are consistent among the incarnations of vārtra are that 1. they bear the mark of power 2. they are born under the omens. nahid wasn't much of a sweets sort of gal, ganondorf likes baklava, but only on special occasions.
of note, he thinks hylian food lacks flavor because it certainly lacks the amount of spices he's used to.
ok, onto the uses of alcohol- one of the most notable things it can be used for is cleaning wounds. alcohol serves as a disinfectant, but it stings like hell. luckily, the gerudo have other ways of treating wounds, mostly herbs and potions. not to say that alcohol can't be the disinfectant, but it's not the primary one.
what IS done often with it is using it to keep jewelry clean! soaking jewelry in gin can remove bacteria and grease! the gerudo are fond of precious metals and gems, often adorned with silver and gold, which DOES tarnish and should be kept clean to look its best!
the recreational use of alcohol is actually left more for celebrations, as in straight up drinking it, but it can be used for cooking and flavor.
the real question is honestly "when is alcohol a recreational thing" because the answer to that one is 'rituals and celebrations' otherwise herbal teas are more of the go to.
this ultimately is also because alcohol is a diuretic, and even before the valley was decimated, it was easy to become dehydrated, and alcohol makes that happen faster, which is conterproductive.
Send in questions about my muse’s world, the setting, the politics, their family lineage, the NPCs that may have shown up at points, their past and potential futures, the climate, the food and culture, religion, anything! Dig deep, ask about the mechanics and framework of the world that lays underneath!
Note: This can be reblogged at any time, not just on a weekend! Have fun!
The last time they had met, her true body had pierced him through in the hands of the Hero. His life force seeped out of him and his body and soul were sealed away once more, until the very next time when everything would repeat once more. Perhaps she would be there, perhaps not. Many times she had not been privy to the goings-on of the trio who inherited the Triforce.
And the few times she did, it always ended so terribly.
Especially as they had not initially been on bad terms.
She saw the omens that spoke of the birth of a Gerudo king once more and though their last moments were of her killing him, she still deigned to appear in the body of the golden lady he had met many a time before.
And she was sulking.
Sitting with her back to him, chin to her knees.
It did not feel right speaking to him in his new life with new memories, when she harboured such a terrible image in her mind still, as if it had only been yesterday when the Demon King had been slain.
the memories are always hazy at first. out of order, rather confusing and often painful. names come back in bursts and as the years pass, he learns where each of his scars came from. in his earliest lives, there was anger. in the later ones, a quiet acceptance. vārtra had chased after hylia, and from his love came ruin.
a great deal of this was his fault, trapped in an endless cycle.
yes, the last life they met, she was in the hands of courage. that time, a person about his age. their battle had been grand, and among his deaths, it was not so terrible. courage understood honor; long since grown out of that childish ignorance. but, he remembered the sting of the blade.
i shan't look upon you, she says. ganondorf huffs and leans against the nearest pillar. truly, the temple built to house her was an architectural marvel- he'd expect nothing less.
❝ you did what had to be done, ❞ he says, and it sounds like a purr. ❝ you gave me a warrior's death. there is nothing shameful about that. ❞
he thinks of all the times where he wasn't granted that. where he died full of rage and hate for a hero who didn't understand the meaning of the awful cycle they were trapped in. sometimes mixed with the hatred was pity.
❝ turn around, my old friend. do not mourn, for we meet on good terms. ❞

Talk about kink boundaries. What are they willing to do with casual partners vs more intimate partners?
it's sunday :)
ok so basically most of gan's partners are casual partners, and while he's a very physical entity, he's also rather guarded. the biggest no with casual partners are bondage or being bound, there's a lot of ptsd from past lives around that one and he's not about to just let himself be vulnerable like that. he isn't one to kiss casual partners because he doesn't want to give the wrong ideas, but he definitely bites! he likes to be dominant and in control. he might go a few rounds but usually the casual encounters aren't like that. he gives great aftercare because he's considerate thank you very much.
he's more willing to try new things with an intimate partner simply because his view of an intimate partner is someone he can fully trust not to screw him over when he's arguably at his most vulnerable. he may also allow an intimate partner to be in control... sometimes. this doesn't change that gan is a dom at his core, but also he's very good at being a service top with the right person! he will absolutely kiss an intimate partner and he's likely to go multiple rounds. he likes to cuddle with an intimate partner!
