“That. Sounds. Awesome.”

A smile lit up Jade’s face at the mention of cupcakes, and her eyes opened wide in excitement. It was ages since she had cupcakes.

“Direct me towards the things and we can start collecting everything for an awesome movie night!”

Hands clasped together, she rocked on the balls of her feet, happy about how the day was heading already.

“Alright! Lemme grab a coat and we can head to the convenience store down the block. I’m out of milk and root beer.”

Charlotte stood up and stretched, picking up the blanket from earlier and tossing it haphazardly on the armchair nearby.

“We’ll rent some movies while we’re out. The video rental’s a bit further though…do you mind taking a cab?”

The Ring, The Grudge, whatever Saw movies they could get their hands on…all classics. This was going to be awesome.

Pulling her hood up over her ears and covering her face, Jade grinned.

“I should keep my ears covered if we’re heading to a proper shop. Most people I know don’t mind them, but regular people might freak out a little bit, aha. I don’t mind taking a cab, though.”

She placed her hands on her hips, waiting for Charlotte to grab a coat, before heading towards the door. Tonight was looking to be very fun.

“What films are we looking to rent?”

Charlotte had completely forgotten about Jade’s ears.

“Your ears..? Oh!Sorry, I completely forgot about the dog ears thing. They’re just kinda part of your head.”

Pushing her arm through the sleeve of her rather beat up old jacket, Charlotte spoke as she led the other girl through the threshold and closed the door without locking it.

“I was thinking the classics. Saw, The Ring, The Grudge. Maybe that one about the killer tomatoes for a laugh.”

“People get used to them after a while, but seeing them for the first time nets me some funny looks.”

With a chuckle, she adjusts the hood until her ears were completely covered up, before slipping her arm around her friends’ arm, and nodding.

“Any movie’s good enough, really!”

Laughing, Charlotte began up the four steps to the lobby of her apartment building.

“I guess I can see that being a bit uncomfortable. But they’re just ears. Like, I’m sure you didn’t ask for them.”

Walking out the front door and turning left, Charlotte smiled brightly. 

‘Having friends is awesome.’

“The Ring and The Grudge it is!”

"I didn't ask for them, no. But I'm stuck with them. Although five years is long enough to get used to them, people on the street haven't had that luxury."

Pointing ahead of her, Jade sped up her pace to match that of Charlotte's, a grin spread across her face.

"To the movie store!"
